Before they authorities got smarter at this, and tacked them onto my license renewal fees, I used to shrug, throw them in garbage and ignore them. As a Canadian, if I get one on one of my frequent cross border trips I still do that.

One "gimp benefit" I appreciate...few cops will stick a ticket on an access van. Always the gambler, I park anywhere, drive with expired tags, and speed. Being a lawyer helps, too. If I get a ticket, I figure I earned it, and then I wink at the prosecutor to toss it!

Meh, this is pretty avoidable, and usually more annoying than expensive, so cursing seems a little silly. Discovering your car has been towed is definitely curse-worthy, though, since that usually means a waste of a few hours tracking it down and a significant chunk of cash. Update: Discovering your car window has been smashed sucks, too. I found crumbled glass all over my back seat this morning after leaving my car parked across from my apartment building for a few days. It would be hilarious if I didn't have to replace the window, actually. Nothing was taken...in fact, the thief actually rifled through my glovebox, FOUND my stereo faceplate...and then left the entire thing (probably in disgust) since it's only desirable feature is an auxiliary jack. I don't quite know what he expected from a 15 year old Altima...eesh. I should just leave the doors unlocked.

Its happened to me twice in recent years. The first incident I'm thinking of occurred a few years ago after meeting my birth mother at her house in north NJ for the first time. I was extremely nervous (as might be expected) and asked a good friend, someone I'd known since high school and was aware of my adopted status, to accompany me. He did, and, long story short, everything went better than I could have anticipated. It was late when we were driving back home, and he wanted to stop at a Starbucks in Morristown, NJ, for a cup of coffee. Not really my thing, particularly since it was nighttime, but I was feeling so upbeat at that point, so elated, and I had appreciated him coming with me, that I agreed. I parked my car in what I thought was an appropriate place (I've been a thief in my life, God knows, but I'm not reluctant to spend a few quarters for the parking meter), we had a cup of coffee and talked, and came out not long afterward to find my car ticketed. Naturally enough, I wasn... Read more

This is not only avoidable but it is usually your own fault so letting words fly is unnecessary. Although I do get a little annoyed with meter maids who stalk parked cars just itching to ticket them the moment the meter runs out.

Yep, finding a parking ticket on a car is always a good reason to do a little venting over. I'm always amazed at how several cities are bad at running themselves yet are great at writing parking tickets.

Using profanity is not going to change the fact that you got a parking ticket. You still have to pay it.

If I've already had a bad day, sure, I might let something slip. But if nothing else has gone wrong, and the fine is small, it won't get much more than a momentary scowl out of me.

That's why you outfit your car with the ol' 007 revolving license plate. Works like a charm...

might bring out a couple of words the meter maids in our city drive up and down the downtown city streets like vultures and considering they make it more expensive to park every year it is annoying. sometimes I will drop a dime or nickel in someones slot to help out. In our town if you do not go down and immediately pay it within two hours the prices go up and up.maddening. I only got one ticket so far. but that was enough.

I drop it off on another illegally parked car and usually it gets paid.

being a city guy, this is easily one of my biggest pet peeves, although not as bad as having your car boosted. When you have to be somewhere and your car is in an impound yard somewhere in the suburbs, this is when you break out the vocabulary that makes a sailor blush
