Sun Mar 21 2010Fido is kind of unoriginal. But seriously, almost nobody names their pup Fido, so while it's the stereotypical dog name, it's also unique in a way. If that makes sense. It's simple and cute, and nobody will forget his name, so why not?

Wed Oct 24 2007The all time great classic, next to or along with Rover, makes me nostagic for maybe old cartoons or something like that.

Mon May 15 2006I like its meaning ("fidelity"), but I'm not a big fan of the name itself. It's actually not used too often.

Mon May 15 2006Not really nice to label your pup with this corny name.

Tue Feb 07 2006I never understood the popularity of this name. Maybe it was good back in the old days, but now, if you named your dog "Fido" you'd raise more than a couple eyebrows.

Thu Oct 13 2005I hope you all have met, by now, my trusty Black Lab, Fido. He generally shows more sense than Bush's advisors who launched him into the Iraq adventure.

Thu Oct 13 2005And, for the really upper-class sophisticates, the alternative, politically correct spelling is Phydeaux.

Thu Oct 13 2005Awesome name. Not used nearly enough. Fido is a name a dog can wear like a badge of honor. Rex is right up there also.

Thu Oct 13 2005With the possible exception of "Spot", "Fido" is probably the most stereotypical name for a dog. The thing is though, I've never known anyone who has actually had a dog named Fido.

Thu Oct 13 2005Though not as common as it once was, I began to really like the name Fido once I connected the name to the word "fidelity". That's exactly the quality I like most about dogs, how incredibly loyal and devoted they can be to human companions.
