Tue Oct 20 2009A good friend of mine told me about this Indiana hard rock band caled "Fiber" whose got a black female guitarist. He said they were similar to this, but I've got to say that I loved Fiber much more. They were just so raw and full of energy that it reminded me of why I started playing music in the first place! Sat Sep 19 2009After reading most of the reviews, there's really not much that I can add. It is a great album. the only "defect" is that it's all in the same key. Amys voice is incredible. I just bought the CD, and I popped it in when I was driving. After I heard torniquet, I realized something I wasn't prepared for. It's a christian oriented band. ususally I never like Christian music because it's too preachy. The opposite is true here. She relates her beliefs, and trials and tribulations in a way that makes the message palpable. While Creed went overboard with it's Messiah complex, Evanessence delivers the message without ramming down your throat. The band is incredibe too. I wish she would change the key she sings in once in a while, and maybe show a bit more "bad girl" stuff.

Sun Aug 30 2009A really great CD if you are looking for christian music with a heavy metal touch.

Fri Jul 31 2009There are simply no words that will accurately define the musical mastery of this album. Rarely do I find musical collections in which I find no songs, no notes, no nuances that I do not like. I spent the first week or so of listening to "Fallen" tryng to figure out how to categorize it (considering my need to find a reference point to compare to). The first couple of passes, because of the tight, D tuned guitar thinking maybe this is "industrial." But then, I kept thinking that it was too complicated to be "industrial" - perhaps "post industrial." But then, the lyrics on "Fallen" are deeply and satisfyingly dark - so "Goth." But that was still not quite it... there is a strong romantic underpining, so my final category (even though most web sites say "Metal") ended up as "post industrial romantic goth." I do want to stress that there are absolutely no weak links in this recording. It's all beautiful, it's all magical, it has a syncronicity of soul very rarely found in music.

Sat Jul 25 2009I must admit I'm into female vocals! Amy has a voice that may be uncomparable; so I won't try to compare. Tonight, i just heard "My Immortal" and I can't get her voice out of my mind-guess I'll just have to get the record.

Wed Jul 01 2009The lyrics are deep and really apply to life, I've listened to this album over and over.

Tue Dec 16 2008Review for Evanescence's Album "Fallen": As a debut album, this is pretty damn good. From their first hit single "Bring Me to Life"(which is what got me into them in the first place), to their even more memorable song "My Immortal", it makes this album worth buying, not downloading illegally.

Sat Dec 15 2007I really enjoyed this album when it came out. Evanescence wasn't doing anything new, even though the media thought they were.

Thu Sep 13 2007One of those rare albums that has no B-side. All wonderful tracks, voiced nicely and backed skillfully. Evanescence didn't suffer the typical sophomore slump with their followup album, either. :)

Wed Sep 12 2007evanescence is just too good. i think amy lee has a very very good voice. i've seen her live and it sounded just like that, she does NOT use computer. if you want to see how beautiful her voice is listen to the song Hello from the album Fallen. and of course she sounds a little diff in concert you know how much pressure there is to jump around and sing loudly... most of her songs probably require the peace and quiet of a room to trigger that amazing voice.

Tue Jul 10 2007WOOT WOOT! Evanescence ROCKS! Amy's voice is beautiful! And they have their OWN style, No copy! All who say diffrent are HATERS!!! shame on you haters! Dang, there are alot of people who are jealous out there! makes me so sad :(

Fri Jan 12 2007Fallen is very good album once you've listened to the whole thing about five times. The first song i heard from them was bring me to life and immediately i thought "linkin park", though a good song, other ones that cuaght my ears were, my immortal, everybody's fool, and tourniquet, then when you actually listen to it you start to notice imaginary which is amazing, and hello which is also cool, and lastly my last breath is one of myfavorite heavier songs. I give the album a 9 out of 10 actually.

Mon Oct 02 2006The poetic lyrics are befitting of Amy Lee's seraphic voice, which haunts the ears over unique music.

Tue Mar 28 2006By far the most irritating vocals to hit the airwaves since Tiny Tim. Like fingernails on a chalkboard, her thin, squeaky, whiny voice is difficult to bear, even for a few seconds, let alone minutes. Add to this the fact that the songs are almost indistinguishable from one another, and it boggles the mind why this stuff even makes it to the radio. I'd rather listen to ambulance sirens for three-and-a-half minutes.

Mon Mar 06 2006I h8 emo chicks. Get a job hippy! Kind of hawt though

Mon Feb 06 2006I love Amy Lee's vocals.

Thu Jan 19 2006One of those Cds you can listen to forever and not get tired of it. "Fallen" has great flow and I don't skip any songs. Its a Cd you'll buy because of the chart - topper and keep for all the others. "My Immortal" is really sad and made me cry when I heard it. "Imaginary" is one of the best songs I've heard and Amy has a voice that will haunt you

Fri Jan 06 2006Evanescence rocks, but you have to wander..... Why does Amy Lee sounds so much different in concert than on CD? How much do they inhance Amy's voice for that nice pure tone? And when their next CD comes out, how much different will it sound now that Ben Moody is gone?

Mon Dec 05 2005This is one of the best c.d i own.If someone does anothere coment about how evanescence stoled lacuna coil music they are full os s#it. I own lacuna coil, night wish, and alot of other lead singers ho appened to be females and evanescence has his own style. Evanescence is not emo. evanescece music is unique and the songs amy writes are meningfull.
by ann_hells
Thu Dec 01 20051) This is NOT goth rock. 2) This is emo. Worse.. it is FAKE emo! Maybe I would like Amy Lee's voice, if it was actually her voice. Look at the label she is signed to. No artist goes in there, sings and records, and comes out with an album with no editing. SO much computer goes into the voices now that I wouldn't even call them voices. Have you ever heard that girl... Julia Robert's neice or whatever. Compeltely not her voice. Well it's the same with Amy Lee and her sad excuses for songs. If you want to listen to Mope Rock listen to something real, something raw where you can hear the pick on the guitar and you can hear the little imperfections in the singers voice. That is not Evanescence. They are another product of America's capitalist market.

Wed Oct 26 2005Too overplayed, I like her voice, but the music is standard & boring.

Mon Sep 05 2005This is my favorite cd. Going under is great. Bring me to life is awesome.Everybody's fool is my favorite song.It is really meaningful. It tells the truth. My immortal is a nice break up song. Haunted is cool. Tourniquet is good. Imaginary is great. Taking over me is really good. Hello is sad but really meaningful and I love it. My last breath is good. Whisper is cool. I love this cd because the songs aren't all fake and happy. They actually have some meaning! Amy Lee has a tremendous voice and the band plays really well.I can't wait until the next cd comes out. I'm sure it will be just as great as this one!

Tue Apr 19 2005It's a great CD, depending on what kind of music you like. Although I was very disappointed when I accidently bought the piano CD of her album. I am not a piano fan! Some of the songs have a similar beat which gets a little irritating. The songs Bring me to life and My Immortal bring this rating to a 5. Great for people that love gothic music.

Tue Apr 12 2005Amy lee is an amazing vocalist but i would have to agree with sly devil that Evanescence ripped off their sound from Lacuna Coil. ~Ladydragonfly~

Wed Dec 29 2004A really good one. Each of the songs are deep and just as enjoyable as the next track, absolutely no fillers. Track 6 and Track 4 are the absolute best.

Fri Dec 10 2004This is definately the BEST CD ever. Amy Lee has such a beautiful voice and their music is so unique and meaningful. I love their lyrics because they are dark and empowering. I love the entire band and I can't wait for their next CD coming out in 2005!

Sat Nov 13 2004Love the band the cd and Amy Lee. She is a great artist...I cant wait until their DVD comes out and their next cd. :)

Sat Oct 30 2004A hard rating for me to make... I luv Amy's vocals and personal style. She's the first rock chick in 20some years not to pretend to be Joan Jett. Having said that however... the music sourly lacks any trace of originality, just a collection of retreaded nu-metal riffs. Track after track it becomes redundent, only My Immortal stands out above the rock droning.
by american_psycho
Thu Oct 14 2004This is a good cd, Although some of the instramental sounds linkin parkish there are several songs that are different at the same time and give it originality.
by cindyg
Tue Sep 14 2004My Immortal is fantastic. Bring me to live and maybe 2 other songs are really good. The rest of the songs are just barely OK.

Sat May 15 2004Hey. This is the future, 2004. Whoever said this band will be forgotten by next year is right. Totally forgotten, like 9/11.
by jschwart37
Sat May 15 2004An interesting blend of dark, swirling rock with a clear female lead singer. There's room to improve the range and variety of songs, however.
by tommygirl3142
Sun May 02 2004Very good CD, depending on your mood. The lyrics can get depressing after awhile.

Sun Apr 04 2004This is a great album. I'm very impressed with the voice of Amy Lee and the music she sings to. This album has a mix of heavy head-banging and soft depressing feeling to it. If you're not into metal you should still give it a try...its very versitile.
by fallenangel87
Mon Mar 29 2004Evanescence is awsome, and anyone who says otherwise is obviously not into goth music. Their debut album Fallen was great, and I'm sure that their next album will be even better.
by xxxpennyxxx
Fri Mar 12 2004This is really good music. It's unique and has everything anybody could ever wish for, hardcore rock, haunting ballads and a slight gothic twist.
by cherrysoda99
Sat Jan 31 2004This is an awesome album. I just got the CD, and I love every single song. Amy Lee's vocals are beautiful. My favorite song is probably My Immortal. But I like Going Under and My Last Breath too.
by beau99
Fri Nov 28 2003Whoever said that Amy Lee is a goth queen is sadly mistaken. She is the perfect role model for children everywhere. She is also a great vocalist.
by freebird_0128
Wed Nov 19 2003I truly enjoy this album because I was thrilled to find a band that produces quality rock music with a good female lead. The majority of the songs are quite good with Amy Lee's beutiful voice and plaintive lyrics. Some do tend to get monotonous though, sounding like the one before. All in all, its a good debut.

Sat Nov 15 2003I can say that one song is Awesome.

Wed Oct 15 2003Pop angst. Urrggh. Really if your down listen to Nine Inch Nails or Joy Division or Morrisey or anyone who sounds like they actually care. It's all just recycled cliche and adding pseudo 'classical' touches don't help. Muse did this the right way, with electric Bachisms and genuine soul. Really. Listen to Muse.
