Jane is amazing. She does my brazillian wax and also gave me my first facial. The waxing is always meticulously perfect and as painless as can be expected. I was nervous going to her the first time, it can be uncomfortable removing your pants and getting into awkard positions with a stranger. She immediatley made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The facial I got left my skin glowing for days. she even gave me smaples of fabulous products to try at home! She has a knack for conversation that will get your mind off any awkwardness.She is hilarious and the shop is darling, you just enjoy being there. I highly recommend you go see her.

Jane Cowan is the best facial you will ever get and I would know, as I've been getting facials every month since I read somewhere that it was a really good idea (the truth of that is debatable but damn is it ever fun). She has great energy, a wonderful studio, and makes my skin all sparkly. And she uses good products- not that commercial-chemical smells like hawaiian flora and promises eternal youth and beauty whilst giving you cancer goo. And she waxes, and she's really good at it. And she does paraffin hand treatments. Hooray! Best facial in Portland, and without any attitude or costing your mortgage payment (Aequis I am looking at YOU). Highly recommended.

I survived my very first brazilian thanks to Jane. She made me feel comfortable from the start - totally at ease. The cozy studio, great music, and wonderful easy-flowing conversation made me forget (for the most part!!) what was going on down there. I will be recommending her to friends. I have been going to Jane for a little over a year now and could not be happier. Her salon is spotless, her manner is comfortable and caring, the music is always great and I am always really at ease. For a long time before going to Jane I had stopped getting waxed because I have sensitive skin and tend to get ingrowns in my "area", my underarms were a nightmare and my legs always felt semi hairy when I was done, NO MORE! After reading the CitySearch reviews, I felt confident going to see Jane to get my brows done. Someone comes from Seattle! She is friendly and talkative, the wax was a good temperature and the whole experience was, physically at least, painless. I've been getting my brows professionally waxed for well over a decade, and this wasn't a good experience at all. She shortened the brow width (now just barely wider than my eyes), a definite no-no - this doesn't flatter anyone. My brows are also now completely asymmetrical: not only does one have a defined arch (in the wrong place though) and one doesn't, the worst part is that they're not the same height: one brow is about a half centimeter higher than the other one. I look like I'm giving people a cock-eyed appraising look, constantly. And when you've been getting waxed as long as I have, it takes a long time to grow back (if ever!!) I've received Brazilian bikini waxes from SEVERAL different salons from SoCal all the way up to Washington! Jane does a phenomenal job and is in my top 3 experiences. After years of bad waxing and hard sell facialists I finally met "the one." Jane is fast, efficient, respectful and great to hang around. It hardly feels like going in for a service, it's more like hanging out with a cool chick-- except when she's done your skin is glowing and you have the best brows in town. I had my first brazillian bikini wax ever today. Jane was so amazing. She has such a fantastic personality and totally put me at ease. Although it did hurt, it was nothing like I expected. She was chatty which helped distract me from the pain. But really, the pain was not so bad. It hurt for like a second and then not anymore. I would highly recommend her. Plus she has a cute space and very reasonable prices.

I went to Jane back in September and it was for my first ever bikini wax and I was very nervous. When I arrived, she really made me feel at ease and was talking to me the entire time. She is very personable and friendly and though it did hurt, it was not as bad as I thought. I haven't been back to her since because I am in England. I didn't have to go for another wax for nearly 6 weeks! I knew Jane was good, but didn't realize to what extent until I was waxed in England. It hurt far more and wasn't as precise! I had to go every 3 weeks and it wasn't smooth!! Needless to say, I booked another appointment for the end of December when I get back!!! Jane is the best!!

Jane is the goddess of the estheticians. She is such a pleasure to be around and does such excellent work that once a month seems too far between! I feel so much more confident since I began seeing Jane as I know there is nary a blackhead or stray hair that escapes her.

I've been seeing Jane for head-to-toe waxing and facial treatments for about three years now. I followed her from Dosha and will never see another esthetician as long as she is in business. Not only is she incredibly thorough and knowledgeable - which to me is the most important part of the service - she has a very fun personality and lovely studio.
