A friend had to get ten people to join their service to get out of an agreement, so that's how I became a customer (I know, I'm a sucker). When I moved, and my phone number was no longer a working number, they continued to bill me. It took months to cancel and stop the billing. Then, a year later I started to get a professional looking letter every few months stating they were a collection agency asking to pay for a late Excel bill. When I called Excel to complain, they would tell me to disregard the letter. They will not explain to you why the letter is sent, so I think someone hacked into their system and started using old customer information to scam people. My credit report is okay, so I just ignore the letters that come every six months threatening me to pay $49.95. It is very annoying though! What a nightmare!

The absolute WORST customer service ever!! We have seven contracted accounts that we cannot get out of and they overcharge but tens of thousands of dollars every other month but cannot explain why. It takes six months to finally get credited for the mistakes only to have it happen again. Under no circumstances should you ever sign a business contract with this company!

Excel is a terrible example of free enterprise. Don't believe any of the overly positive reviews below, they are clearly influenced by paycheck, etc. They originally contacted my Grandfather over 5 years ago about some long distance plan for $5 per month. He told them he wasn't interested but it didn't matter because they already had his information. Many, many people in my family have tried repeated times to get the service canceled, but to no avail. Even after he moved out they are still hasseling the current residents. Every time you speak with a representative, they claim to have canceled the service, but then additional calls and letters come in stating that money is still owed. If this was anything legitimate, they would have sent it to collections years ago. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

I would give less than 1 star if possible! I appreciated the low rates of this company, but the hassles were not worth it. I was 2 days late ONCE and they cut us off. It took several days to get service on again. They kept cutting us off for non-payment when we were up to date in payment. Their customer service people are unable to do anything to correct problems. We had to call Texas long distance to get someone with any authority to deal with issues. We changed carriers and they still continued to bill us. "We don't have any record of you asking to be discontinuted." We did call about it at least 3 times. DO NOT use this carries unless you want stress every month!!

I have never experienced such poor customer service as I have with Excel. I used their service for about 6 months before cancelling--the service was fine, I had no problems a the time. After cancelling I heard nothing from them for about three years-great, then I received a bill. No one could explain what the bill was for, and their customer service department was unwilling to even look into why I was being billed. It took numerous calls and several months before they finally removed the charges (which were less than $20) after I was told with each call that the amounts would be removed. I have tried to get confirmation from them by mail/email that my account is 100% cancelled this time and that I will receive no more billings, but I have yet to receive a response.

A terrible company. Its nothing but a pyrimid organization, which I joined--and not having been made a full customer, I fell hurting my back. I asked for relief of my nearly $400.00 dollars it cost me to join---and I didn't have a friend in the world, of all who in the begging were so supportive. Sorry Excell--you stink, as many others think so also.

BAD COMPANY Excel customer service and the company are terrible! They bully you! I signed up eight years ago for service and cancelled when I moved 6 months later. They kept calling me, trying to get me to keep them in my new area, I didn't, two years after I had cancelled I got collection letters for charges that were made to this number after I cancelled service. I called customer service and I thought this was fixed, now after eight years, more collection letters. The amount is under $100 so I guess they figure if the harass you for a small amount you'll pay it, even though not valid, because you don't want it on your credit.

THE WORST! Don't believe any low rate baloney. Long distance is not cheap! If you are 2 weeks late, your service gets cut off with no warning and will not get restored for about 3 days!!!!!! Only recommend this place to your worst enemy. My service was cut off during a hurricane for being 2 wekks late and I could not even call my family. My bill was always about 100.00 never 49.95.

EXCEL is a company that searches for young college students to become sellers of a service that does not give you anything that it says it does. The 49.95 unlimited deal is NOT 49.95 you get hit with charges that you are not told about. I tried it out as a favor to a family member and not only do they have TERRIBLE customer service, I NEVER got a bill for 49.95 it was usually 20.00 higher and I got charged for dropping the call waiting answering service that was causing problems on my phone line. Terrible company and I would rather never use the phone again then use EXCEL.

excel needs to be honest with their customers and reps, in all my years of professional business I have never seen such a non-professional approach. Excel reps feed off each others sign up fees and the commissions have very little to do with the telecommunication product being used

We have had Excel Local since it became available in our area. We have had no problems, but have seen savings - my sis lives in Canada, and now we talk so much more often than before. 3000 mins is 50 hours, that means almost 2 hours of LD every day. Do people really spend that much time on the phone "just to chat"? Even at 1c/min (an unheard of rate, especially to Canada) it would cost $30 plus you still have your local service, so $65 is not unreasonable, with all the extra features. Plus we can finally BUDGET our phone bill - no matter how much we talk, it's always the same!. I have heard of people having some minor issues, but Excel works hard to resolve them, and some times it is the local carrier that causes the problem (such as the bells..). Sorry not everyone shares our experience...

I have been really impressed with their service. I started with the local with free long distance. Yeah, they advertise 49.95 and you have to add the taxes, but who doesn't. I tried the internet access with good success. I haven't had any service interuptions or complications. No one has called me during dinner to see if I am interested in the next great plan. Apparently you don't have to request the lower rates when they are available, Excel just posts it across the board. I used AT&T in the past and would have to hound them to give me, a long time customer at that point, the same rates as people just signing up. I had the same experience with the Bells. And the comment with reference to MCI - I have never actually met anyone that was happy with MCI. Excel is the best I have used so far.....by far. Incidently, I think the unlimited long distance is just that, unlimited. If your usage exceeds 3000 minutes a month then they want to be sure that it is still just private usage... Read more

I have had Excel's telephone service since '99 and have never had a problem. They have always been a company of their word.As far as the My Line Complete Pkg. goes it's awesome. It's not a knock off of MCI actually they came out w/it after Excel did.As far as getting letters about going over your limit ...What is it that you expect??? If your not abusing it you have nothing to worry about. This pkg. was created for residential use only not buisnesses with faxes and networks and etc... Their customer service is great also.Just to let you know the only time you would reach India is if you called before or after hours. It's not Excel's problem if you call during that time. Also, who really thinks that your not going to have to pay taxes and regulation fees on a phone bill??? I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Not sure where some of these comments came from but here is my experiance. I used to have a total phone bill of on an average of $185. I got on the complete package and now am paying $60. There is obviously taxes on the $49.95 or $59.95. If your calling normal people, like friends, family and residents you will never get a letter about "standards." This is free long distance, so they monitor calls so you don't abuse this. Abuse is 900 numbers, faxes, internet...basically if you joined MyLine from Excel to call long distance to friends and family, your fine, call as many times as you want as long as you want. But if your trying to take advantage of free long distance by using it for business or by calling 900 numbers for hours on end, then you'll get told about it. I've had no problems with customer service, nor have I had to call them other then add inside wire survice. I have had no problems with my phone service, and have had no hidden fee's or problems. The bill is very ... Read more

I, like many thought the "My line complete" was a great deal. 49.95 per mo. for "UNLIMITED" Long distance. Not one time did they define unlimited as being anything other than unlimited. Yet suddenly I receive notification from them that I am "exceeding industry standards" What standards? No where in thier information did it mention exactly what those standards are. So I guess that Unlimited to them is whatever they feel like allowing. The customer service (If you can ever get through) is just as bad. (They must contract out to India because these are the only people I have ever been able to get ahold of) Save your money, go somewhere else where they actually come across with what they advertise.

They promised unlimited long distance for $59.95 a month. With loads of fees, that price was actually closer to $80 a month, but it was still a savings for us. However, the "unlimited" is bogus. Just received a letter from Excel telling me that the amount of usage on my phone was outside their guidelines of "fair usage", which they included a copy of for the first time ever in that letter. Nowhere in their policy does it say how much one is allowed to use their "unlimited" service. It says, "The following are prohibited uses of the MyLine service plans that may result in termination of service: Calling patterns and usage which considerably exceed what is considered usual and normal for residential customers by industry standards..." Yet there is no definition of "usual and normal."

Excell is okay. They offer a variety of plans at 3 cents a minute. The customer service reps are very personable and the service gets better and better.
