Very pleased with everything so far ... ABF shipped 2 days early, called the day before ... backed my pickup to their liftgate and transferred package, shipment in great shape. I live 25 miles away in the mountains and picked an easier drop off point. Layed box on side on pallets ABF gave me, facillitated wheel/axle/chassis stand assembly; rolled upright, attached handle, checked all bolts from factory, good and tight; attached a 4' 6 guage battery ground cable spiked into the ground; filled the generator with oil and gas, used the rope pull to rotate engine slowly several times to lubricate parts, set choke, flipped on switch, and started imnmediatley with first light pull ... let it run a few minutes to stabalize, flipped on main breaker, plugged in a circular saw and listened as it came to speed with the current draw. Not loud at speed, much quieter than my old Coleman 4 kw industrial. I have no problem with rope pull location, and upon reading earlier reviews have no need to modi... Read more

Purchased this to upgrade from a 5kw model. Surprised with the high quality. Started (don't have battery yet) with the first single pull. Very much like the "auto throttle" setting-- when not under load, the generator puts itself into idle which lowers the noise to a barely noticeable level. No battery yet, so I can't comment on the electric start.

I purchased this generator as a replacement for an older 5KW Coleman. I have a backup inverter arrangement to run our house during power outages (10 select circuits) and use the generator to charge the batteries. This system was installed 10 years ago because of regular outages (sometimes 6 days) in our rural community. We are on well water so it became a necessity to have power backup. A couple months ago we had a branch transformer fault. I did not anticipate that we would have a surge on the neutral/ground leg and lost my battery monitoring system and also later would find out that I had suffered battery damage to one of the eight in my system. Two weeks ago we had an outage and I found that the damaged battery had pulled all of the batteries down. I started up the generator and it failed after a couple of minutes. I maintained the generator every other month but had not noticed the hoses were beginning to rot from age. After repairs I did get it to run. I decided to ... Read more

I'm 54 and have been around mechanical equipment all my life. First impression of this generator, which is made in China, is the quality of the components and construction are equal to anything I've seen. Assembly of the wheel/axle and handle is very easy. You do need to put the axle/wheels on BEFORE putting in any oil and gas as you have to stand the generator on end to be able to assemble. I cut the box vertically on all four corners when opening and laid down all four sides. This created a cushion and non-scuff surface when standing the generator on end. It is heavy enough (216lbs) that having a second person to help stand it on end is a benefit. I followed the instruction and check points. Put in oil and a little gas, ran a 12AWG ground wire from the ground post on the generator to a copper ground rod, turned on the fuel valve, opened the choke and pulled the starter handle. It was running before I even completed the first pull!! I do agree with some of the other reviewers that ... Read more
