Sat Aug 11 2007Emory, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Vanderbilt are the South's three academic powerhouses. They all have solid grad programs as well as a legion of distinguished undergrads. In one way, however, Emory stands out from the others: it hasn't really focused on developing sports programs, which is a good thing. This freedom owes to the fact that the institution doesn't need the money -- they are massively funded by the Coca-Cola Corporation. (Is it any wonder you can't get a Pepsi on campus?) This has given them the wherewithal to become one of the country's leading institutions of higher learning.

Sun Jan 14 2007Love the school and the education my son is getting. Beautiful campus. He starts his junior years in a few days. It is expensive, but my son has scholarships. And No, it doesn't need "a football team."

Wed Oct 30 2002Great Undergrad programs and great social scene. Picked Emory over Duke, Columbia, and Penn and I know I made the right choice.

Sun Jun 10 2001I love this school. Like any school it has its weaknesses (school spirit). But the campus, faculty, and students make up for it. It's location is perfect being in Atlanta but far enough away from the bustling city if you need some peace. The buildings are gorgeous and there is a great social scene. There is something for everyone at this school. I never thought that I could find such a different group of people who get along so well together. I came in knowing no one and will leave with the greatest of friends.

Thu Mar 08 2001Awesome school, great city, beautiful campus, good academics, and sweet social life. What more could you ask for? The name recognition is not there yet, but the reputation is definitely going up!

Sun Feb 11 2001This letter is directed to a certain professor within the history deparment. This individual recently has written a novel entitled "Armed America". I would like to state that the facts in this novel are wrong. Many times the author contradicts himself. Most important, according to this "Professor" from Emory. After reading his book I realized something. We are going to have to rewrite all our history books...He has taken quotes from George Washingtom himself, and replaced them. I do not think this person should be allowed to teach...He was intentionally deceptive....And is a disgrace to our history and what we have fought for. Son Of Liberty

Wed Oct 25 2000Emory's energy, depth of resources, and diversity are nearly unparalleled in American academia. Who needs a football team when you have interesting classmates, a range of extracuricular opportunities, approachable faculty, and broadening experiences? Students at Emory are serious, ambitious, and personable -- but there's hardly a typical Emory student beyond these shared characteristics. For those who are eager to learn, contribute, and excel, look seriously at Emory; those who do not like diversity or competition, look elsewhere. And don't let the cost dissuade you: Emory's financial aid and scholarship programs make possible the Emory experience for deserving students.

Sun Feb 20 2000Even though the quality of this school is not properly reflected in the rankings, it is the best university in the South.
