eMachines eMonster Series

i have an emachines 420. its so unfaithful to me. i hate it. one part of the problem could be the braodband usage. but it cant do more than 1 thing at a time. constantly freezes and its quite slow for a 2.60ghz. the performance should be alot better.

Who gives a crap?? They don't even make the Emonster anymore....

My friend: Here are 2 pieces of good advice - 1) Don't play cards with anyone whose first name is a city; 2) Don't buy anything made buy eMachines. I had an e400 about 5 years ago. It was cheap, just $450. Three days later, the power supply died. Two weeks and $65 bucks later, my replacement e400 had a bad modem. I dropped it on the floor of Office Depot demanding satisfaction. They game me an HP Pavillion which I have been using ever since. Oh Yeah, the eMachines monitor died after about 3 years. JUNK!!!

I bought an eMachines 400i in August 1999. It has been a good, reliable computer since. I replaced the modem when I first got it - it was crap. I upgraded the memory from 32mb to 96 mb to 128 mb and finally to 256 mb. I have just recently added a 10 gb hard drive to the 4.3 gb it currently has. I use the computer mainly for internet surfing, excel, and photo editing. I am still using the same eMachine today - 4 years later. It is still adequate in performance and has saved me money.

Bad Service, Bad warranty, 1.9 ghz processor is no faster than my hp 4445 and not as dependable

These "monsters" don't really live up to thier names, except they are just slow, and sluggish. The computer just "magically" shuts down, or freezes up every ten minutes, and the fan is LOUD, it sounds like your in a truck with no muffler. The video is real crappy, and the audio is ok. My goldfish has more memory than this piece of garbage, I'd get more, but I'm too busy saving money to buy a new computer that doesn't take 5 min. to start up. It's good for typing documents, and that's about it. Surfing on the web is ok, and everything else is just terrable. These computers last as long as a couple months, then they just go crazy. I would recomend to save your money for something else, it's just not worth all the hastle.

i use my computer alot for surifng the net and doin other stuff, not a big gamer, if you want a game system get somethin else...i love my emachine cuz its been very reliable for the year i have owned it and its easily upgradable...i have the 500mhz celeron and boosted it to 128 mb of ram and a better modem, and it works like a charm...performs operations faster than my dads 500mhz pII gateway..if you want a good budget system thats easy to upgrade to stuff besides heavy duty gaming, go emachines.

e-Machines are good and affordable. They run well, are pretty fast and give you what you need from a CPU! Unlike other big named computers, this one will not let you down.

The product is upgradable, so you won't need to buy a new computer every year. It won't be outdated until the warranty expires. It has a mini tower, very compact, sleek looking and it's convenient if you need to move it. It is light, and comes with a 17" monitor.

If you need a cheap computer, this is it but sadly enough, you won't even get your money's worth. The money you save now will be quickly drained away as you pay somebody $65 an hour that would never had occured on a better computer. If you're thinking about this computer, save your money and buy an iMac.

Excellent computer for its price and performance. I am pleased to have owned one, and am still happy except for the unreliable power supply. It was a dissapointment, especially when they were backordered and it took me two months to receive the defective parts.

I do not own an eMachines computer and for good reason. These computers are for people who know nothing about computers, but want a cheap toy. Sure, you can email and play solitaire, but when you want to do something that takes a little more power, eMachines can't take it. So then you want to upgrade. Too bad. eMachines have everything built in and attached to the main board so you have to disable separate components. And when that's done, eMachines probably aren't compatible.

Fast, cheap, good cards (sound and video), and box is easily modifiable.

I have had to perform numerous repairs/upgrades on these machines, and I must say that while they are inexpensive, you are paying for what you get. They have crappy video cards and little or no expandability. They have no CD ROM bays (5 1/2" bays and no extra hard drive space to add in). They have only 2 PCI slots, making upgrading difficult.

VERY NICE PRICE and DEFINITELY worth the price BUT lacks A LOT! I'd even say that the peopl who designed it lacked A LOT of common since. Not good for a household that only has one computer b/c you'd relly only on that one piece of garbage. Probably best as a present for your kids since it's cheap and works kinda okay.

Built with cheap parts which make for a cheap computer. People are better off spending more money to get a more reliable system. No remarkable software bundled. The computer I bought had a DataTech modem.

Price/performance ratio are very good. This is a great gaming machine for the money and it's an easy upgrader.

The emachines Monster series is a pretty good value for the price. The bad thing about the computer is that it didn't last that long for me.

I own the monster emachine 600mh and this system runs great. I have been using the system with a 6006 video card and it runs games and programs with great speed.

Overall, a cheap, good system for the budget conscious buyer. However, the cages tend to be small, can not upgrade much peripheral-wise i.e., ZIP drives, DVD, tape back ups...not much room. Also, e-machines power supplies are small(145W}, and they fall a LOT. I work at Fry's Electronics and we sell more e-machine power suppliers than anything else, not a good sign.

These suck. They're only made for net surfing, and that's B.S. Why buy a computer with low ass specs? Just save up and build it yourself.

It is a good computer for someone who just needs to browse the internet and write papers. I feel that it lacks the ability to be upgraded much and doesn't work that good on some games.

Not very reliable. Good price. Freezes a lot and the computer shuts down often.

I have one of these computers at home and I think they are really good. The price is good and you get a very good machine and if you wanna' increase the Mhz or GigB you don't have to spend money as much as in a Compaq, IBM, etc.

Great computer for gaming- good price. Includes graphics allocation cards.

These machines are pieces of crap. They breakdown all the time. I recommend buying it if your daughter plays baseball- good target practice.

The adage says that you get what you pay for, and this product proves it. It was cheap and performed like it. The CPU crashed both easily and often, usually without apparent reason. I ran nothing high-tech which could push the "monster"; still, it was irretrievably crashed within a year of purchase.

Well, they have great value for the money. But with my experience with computers- buy the best at the time. They get outdated REAL fast. A "value PC" such as emachines, is great bang for the buck- but not for me.

I have heard that many people were discontent with their e-machines but my Dad got one and there have been no problems. He was able to set it up even though he knows nothing about computers. I have used it many times and have found nothing to complain about. It's biggest problem is that it's not a Mac!

You get what you pay for. Emachines are inexpensive but a close look at the specs show less than optimal upgradability. My friend also had some trouble with his machine. It's not bad, and the price is right, but it is just okay.

A relative of mine purchased one of these recently and I guess you really get what you pay for. It works alright I guess but it has the smallest most tiniest littlest screen that it looks absolutely ridiculous compared to the screens that are everywhere today. Yes she can buy a new screen but the one that came with it was teensy. Secondly, it makes the most annoying whurring sound the whole time it's on. I swear you think you're in some kind of a lab test and somewhere people are watching to see how long it will take before you flip out from the constant buzzing.

These are inexpensive and a good value, but harder to upgrade. Although some have an plan to pay $200 after 2 years to get the newest version.

They haven't really been around long enough to get a good feel for how reliable they are but they sure are coming in with good cheap prices for a pretty competitive amount of power.
