Tue Oct 04 2005I think she is a great actress. She is one of the reasons I watch That's Life. they were lucky to get her. I liked her work in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Same Time Next Year. and Ressurection. She is convincing in any role she does. I even liked her as the mom in the Exorcist.

Thu Jan 27 2005Great actress. Was the best thing about Requiem for a Dream. Unfortunately, she doesn't work nearly often enough. Maybe she just feels there aren't enough movies in Hollywood worthy of her. She's right.

Thu Apr 22 2004One of the very best ever. See Requiem for a Dream for a whole other side of her. Should have been nominated for that one.

Sun Mar 21 2004Ellen Burstyn is one of the greatest actresses. Have seen so many of her films, from Exorcist, Alice, to YaYa and she is always brilliant. A great talent who can do almost any role and has proven her great worth to us.

Wed Feb 12 2003What a great actress! She did a beautiful job in "Ya Ya Sisterhood" and all of her other movies. Seems like she gets better as she ages. Quite a large range of roles and she always outdoes herself.

Tue Nov 19 2002Classic American actress fro mthe 70's & 80's who had graced the world with several outstanding performances, including The Exorcist, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymoore, and, moost recently, Requiem for a Dream(for which she should have won an Oscar). Ms. Burstyn(along with Susan Sarandon) follows in Kate Hepburn's shoes as the grand Dame of American acting, and the MooCow has nothing but respect for her work and service over the years. :=8)

Fri Apr 20 2001Ellen Burstyn a terrible actress??? Who gave her that rating without commenting on one of the finest charcater actresses of our time? Did they see her winning role in "Alice"? How about her light romantic comedies like "Same Time,Next Year"? If that's not your cup of tea, then try high drama with "A Dream of Passion". With every role,Burstyn cuts to the heart.Truly amazing! If she were in England she would be a Dame. Here in Amercian she is typically treated like an over the hill actress. Thank God for "Requiem For A Dream" & "the Yards". Perhaps Ms. Burstyn will once grace the big screen where she ruled in the 70's.

Thu Mar 01 2001What can anyone say about the great Ellen Burstyn? Oscar winner for "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore", the mother in "The Exorcist" and currently running away with the TV series "That's Life" but also gives the performance of her career in "Requiem For A Dream" (Only Julia Roberts is keeping her from her second Oscar. Most of all, she is a survivor. In a business that discards its actresses when they hit a certain age, Ms. Burstyn hung in there. Bravo!
