Delicious Indian Yum Yums. I went here with hopes of satisfying my coconut curry cravings. It was a success. It was hard to choose a dish, but I went with the Chef's Chicken, Basmati Rice and Naan. It was delicious. The chicken was tender and the curry was perfect! The Naan was wonderful and I actually wasn't all that impressed with the rice. The service was excellent. The only thing that I could complain about was the "doggie bag" service. We didn't eat even half of what we ordered, so they took our leftovers to the back to package it all up for us. Later when we opened up our leftovers, hardly any of them were in the bag. What happened to my Chef's Chicken?! Sad. Still a success, I will defiantly go back. Just don't get anything "to go".

I've been coming to EK for a couple of years already and everything is fantastic; from the Bollywood on the big screen to the always fresh and delicious food, to the extremely friendly owner Pama who will even keep you company if you are dining alone, to the authentic and over the top decor and ambiance. Then of course there is Kate... the hostess who is simply glowing; the friendliest person ever and who masterfully interacts with both guests and kitchen to make sure that every dish is prepared to your personal satisfaction and that the experience is overwhelmingly positive. EK makes for an exotic and always enjoyable evening.

My husband and I CRAVE this food and usually get it delivered. One night, we decided to dine in, and because it was a beautiful night and their outdoor patio is layered with floor pillows and candles, we chose the atrium. As usual, the food was to die for... we ordered additional things and tried new stuff, but sadly our meal was blown out by the sea of smokers who are allowed to puff up continuously! The patio was so cozy and charming, but we literally went from course to course with smokers blowing smoke toward us from each side. That said, we will definitely continue to get this food, only we'll stay home. :o)

electric karma a lovely dining option. My dining experience felt like I was royalty. With calming music and lovely ambiance I forgot about my order till it came. The meal is well worth the cost. There is flavor as well as heat. the out door patio with the pillows is the best hidden place in town!

In the past, I usually went with the delivery service to my house in Hollywood..( menu that I took from friend cause the food sounded tasty). I never made an attempt to pay a restaurant visit until today. Yesterday I ordered delivery service from Electric Karma and today I finally made the effort to visit the place. As I first walked in, I right away loved the decor. I sat in a cozy booth and from my view I can see the outside patio and I thought the next time I would love to bring friends with me to enjoy the really cute and cozy outside setting. The pricing is great. The service was fabulous. The waiters were nice. I believe I was also approached by the owner and asked me if I needed anything else done to my food and if it was ok. It was more than ok. It was excellent. They made me feel comfortable, welcomed, and most of all happy. I will try to make more attempts to come here more often although I still appreciate the delivery service. =)

Excellent food and service. Free refill of best indian chai, then complimentary appetizer, and finish with free dessert. What a deal. Super great service. My friend and I did not finish our complimentary appetizer so that we could save room for the entree and desserts. The waiter asked whether we were not happy with it. Great proactive seeking of customer feedback! Much better service than most expensive restaurants. Very attentive waiters ensured constantly whether we wanted to refill our chai. Great price and delicious tastes. Very comprehensive menus. beautiful atmosphere. Servers are all polite, friendly, attentive, and helpful. More than highly recommended.

I had my second dining experience at Electric Karma this past weekend. Having discovered this place earlier this year, I was looking forward to a return visit. This place has definitely found its groove and is a bright colorful addition to the area. The menu is inventive and a welcome departure from the ordinary. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area [near the beverly center. I certainly plan to return again.

Recently my husband took me to electric karma and it was fantastic! It was our anniversary and a rare time where we could enjoy dinner without the kids. They treated us like royalty. The food was great and we were even given a wonderful tour of the place when we asked if they had any space for private parties. they have a back patio with pillows on the floor, its so lovely!

My boyfriend took me to electric karma last night for my birthday. I'm very picky with restaurants, but this one was absolutely wonderful! The service was incredible! Everyone from the car valet to the gentleman that opened the door for us to the waiters to, our main waiter were extremely courteous, friendly and punctual. We had fresh samosa for an appetizer, chicken nirvana and fish tikka with great wine for an entree, and an amazing warm gulab jamun for dessert. Everything was extremely tasty! And the ambience of the restaurant is so romantic, the tables are well-spaced for more privacy in the back patio, candles and flowers everywhere (we sat in the back patio on pillows), and great buddha-bar style music in the background. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Americanized Indian Food....I dont like the bland affair. is there anybody Indian in the kitchen, I doubt it. The flavors, the presentation, the aromas are more tex mex than Indian. Trust me, I know Indian food after living in London for a few years. This place is a money minter in the disguise of Indian restaurant.

When I saw that this restaurant had five stars and such low prices, I thought "Wow, this must be one of those super cool holes in the wall that you only stumble upon by accident or have to hear about through your friends," but I was wrong. The food was sub average at best (I could get the same Samosa and Pakoras at any higher end any indianmarket for much less money) and the service was absolutely abysmal. It was extremely frustrating gaining the attention of the servers, they were just hanging aroud the Bar. Some of am playing around the computer. though I frequently called for them making pleading eye gestures, waving, even calling out to them directly, all to no avail. Even as the servers passed by me and made eye contact, they kept moving on. We had to ask for our bill three times and only got it after complaining that we had asked so many times and had been waiting up to half an hour. I will definitely never come here again.

Either people were paid to give these positive reviews or they simply don't know what real indian food is. First off, the place feels almost claustophobic and cramped. Our table was located next to the bar. Not a good spot. Then again, i didnt see any good tables anyways. Our waiter was annoying, why do people feel the need to put on an act and try to come across as AMERICAN when they are not. Wine was ok, just your average pino grigio. The food itself wasn't really close of even being average. It just wasn't good. Bad day? Maybe. Maybe not. In the end, we couldn't wait to be done and leave.

I've had bad luck with Indian restaurants in Orange County. They were either boring or didn't taste authentic too much. So I started searching for Indian restuarants in LA on citysearch. I read about this place and based on the reviews, i decided to check it out. I came, I saw, i Burped satisfaction. The place was elegant, romantic and very homely. A definite must go to spot for anyone craving A++++ Indian food. Another great thing is that the owner of the restaurant mingles with the customers for a few to make sure you're happy with the service and what you ordered.

Recommended to me by my friends in L.A. We wondered into the World of Electric Karma. Its a beautiful place with an Open-Air Patio, where we dined on pillows with three of my best friends from Germany. The food was rich in spices, my favorite dish there was the Fish Tandoori. At the end of the Night they told me that there is no Indian Restaurant like this one in Frankfurt. They liked the food very much, were amazed by the ambience and happy with the Service. I will for sure continue to go back to Electric Karma with other friends (Great place to relax!!!!)

From: Mr. Edward Dear all, I have been to many Indian Restaurants around the world, it is absolutely by far my favorite cuisine. In no other cuisine worldwide are so many spices used in various different ways. At Electric Karma, they seem to know how to combine thousands of spices to make a delicious dish. The Nirvana Chicken is the one Dish that makes me go back to Electric Karma again and again. Never anywhere else have i tried a Dish like this one. Mmmmmmmm yummy yummy yummy PS: Reserve a table in the Open-Air Patio!!!!

We tried this place on a friend's recommendation, but were terribly disappointed. We love Indian food and always get chicken tandoori, cheese naan, aloo mataar, and samosas, but the food here was unlike any other Indian food we've ever had, and not in a good way. Most frustrating was that we ordered to go without looking at the menu and despite that there are 3 specials containing the items we got for a much more decent price, we were charged full price for all items and the waiter didn't even suggest the specials on the menu. The tandoori chicken was flat out burned and even the rice wasn't right. I can see how people would like the atmosphere, but it doesn't even come close to making up for the poor cuisine. We'll be sticking to our other local options. Please note that I don't work for either of these restaurants, but we much prefer Bollywood in Studio City, and Star of India on Melrose is pretty good on that side of the hill. If you're looking for good Indian food I would definitel... Read more

This used to be my favorite Indian Resteraunt in LA, and as an Indian myself, I am quite critical. I have held many parties at their location, ordered take out all the time, and refer people there all the time as well. The past couple experiences I have overlooked the rude service, but I recently threw a party there for a birthday with a large group of friends who have never been there. They all told me seperatly that this was the worst service they have ever expeienced. The plates of food were thrown at guests without any effort to even place dishes on the table, leftovers all thrown together, a rude tone to guests when requesting anything nicely as well. A friend lost a very expensive item there and they were more concerned about their staff who were sleeping on the seating where we ate the night before, then even attempting to look for it. The last party I had their similar attitude given by management . None of us are fussy or demanding customers so there was no reason for... Read more

After dining at electric karma many times, I have to say that my last experience will be my final. This is a shame because the atmosphere and food was a favorite of mine for dates and indian food cravings alike. We were served by two very impatient managers who did not want to explain anything on the menu when asked politely, and when our food came rather then setting it down nicely in front of us they just handed the hot plates to our bare hands. Having a background in customer service and restaurants, I couldn't believe the way they were treating us. They never came back to refill our drinks or ask how the food was, and made it very obvious that they couldn't wait for us to leave. I do not know if the owner is aware that his management/waitstaff are serving valuable paying customers this way, but when I tried to talk to the manager I got yelled at to go somewhere else and that he did not care about my business to the restaurant. He also made it a point to belittle me by saying th... Read more

I love Indian food and have been to a number of restaurants in LA, but Electric Karma is definitely my favorite. It's an excellent location for a date. The lighting and atmosphere are very romantic. I recommend sitting on the patio, you have the option of sitting very low to the ground with plush pillows behind you. It's actually very comfortable and makes for a relaxed dining experience! And the mural on the wall is mesmerizing. We took recommendations from the waiter and he knew the menu cover to cover! He had some great suggestions, particularly when it came to appetizers. For the main event, my boyfriend went with Chicken Tikka and I had one of the special spicy shrimp curry dishes. Both were excellent. The portions are ideal for sharing. Everything is also very reasonably priced, it fit our budget as college students! A great overall experience.

I've been to Electric Karma around 5 times and the food is great. I'm very fond of their saag, vindaloo and tikka masala dishes; the vegetarian dishes were good too. The portions are on the smaller side and everything is a-la-carte. It's a nice place to go for a work lunch. At dinnertime, they broadcast Bollywood music videos on the wall -- once I went with my boyfriend and he was ignoring me in favor of the gyrating Bollywood dancers! Parking, however, is an issue -- as is the case with any restaurant on Third Street.

I had dinner here with a group of friends a few weeks ago. We had a large group and they placed us at table directly under the glow of the Bollywood TV. It was a fun distraction, and a great conversation piece. The food was yummy and the waiter was patient with our large group. We asked him for help selecting a wine and he was very accommodating - bringing us a good bottle of inexpensive wine that was a great match for the Masala.

My girlfriend and I visited this restaurant just before we were off to see "Wicked" at Pantages. We were quickly seated and promptly served with plenty of time for the show. I did not want to leave however, as I dug the atmosphere and the food was excellent. I went a more traditional route with the Chicken Tiki Masala (which was the best I've ever had) with a side of Nan. My girlfriend explored with a vegetarian combination plate (in which she picked and choose what she would be eating). There was so much food, I would recommend bringing your appetite or a group in which you can all share. All in all, every time I come up to LA from SD, it will become a mandatory stop, if not the reason for the trip entirely.

I found this place just walking down third street. After reading some reviews, I gave it a try. The rest is history! This place is a must when I have out-of-town company. It's a great date spot. A young crowd - upper 20's-40's but fine for age 40+. I love "traditional" Indian establishments. However, this is not one of them. The food had new twists & flavors and the decor and atmosphere are trendy and happening. The outer room is well decorated with romantic lighting. Gone are the white table cloths and glass tops/windex smell of traditional Indian places. Staff take good care of you, but also give you space for conversation. They don't rush you out. The music is also much more happening than your traditional Indian restaurant. They play a mix of songs and styles - not the same tracks on repeat. The back room/patio is very romantic -- tables are low to the floor. You sit on pillows around the tables. Candles add to the mood. Very cool! Yes, there are heaters (this i... Read more

I recently visited Electric Karma with my girlfriend on a Friday night. I must say I have been to many restaurants from Mediterannean to Korean Barbeque but none has captured my every sense like this restaurant. The atmosphere is one of a kind mixing together calm relaxing music in a mix of candle light, dim lighting, and comfortable seating arrangements inside and on the patio. Although I am not the biggest fan of wine myself, my girlfriend told me the wine selection was amazing and she truly enjoyed the trip. I would recommend the restaurant to any young to middle-aged individuals looking for a relaxing time and truly delicious food. An unforgettable experience!

I went because the ratings made the place sound great. Sorry. It wasn't. The service was good at the beginning when there weren't many patrons. We ordered a couple of dishes that the waiter recommended as very good. The dishes were very bland and not all that tasty. Then the service went downhill and we had to ask for to-go boxes a couple times, them we had to ask for our check several times. We never got the check, so we got up and on the way out our waiter passed by us and thanked us for coming by. We said, we''d like to pay you and if we have to wait much longer, we won't pay! When we got the check, it was incorrect: too many drinks charged. We paid and left the place, and we don't expect to go back. Gate of India still rules, IMHO. Thanks.

From the same owners as the fabulous All India Cafe on Santa Monica Blvd, Electric Karma doesn't disappoint. The Chicken Jalfrezzi is so delectable, my mouth is still watering from each bite an hour after the meal. I am happy the portion was big enough so I can enjoy my leftovers of that dish for lunch tomorrow. The red/orange walls, warmly candlelit atmosphere is cozy, especially when seated on the comfy pillows in the backroom and dining "floor tables" indian style. The music derives mostly from Bollywood musicals and adds nicely to the patio with the little waterfall sounds. Service is slow, but not unfriendly. Recommend!

I have dined at EC four times now, and I have thought the same thing each time. The food is pretty good, and the service is painfully slow and annoying with all the upselling (constant urging for us to have more wine or order the special rice). The ambiance is lovely, especially in the outdoor cushion-seating area at night. EC is worth going to for a nice group dining experience. I would even go for lunch if there was a buffet like most Indian restaurants have. There aren't any real standout dishes, but everything I have tried has been good

Food is very tasty and full of flavor. I would recommend the naan and if you are a vegetarian there is a large selection of veggie dishes. Owner is very friendly and came up to us to ask us how our food was and chat with us. Environment is urban, hip, full of people, and at the same time not overcrowded. Appeared to be a nice place to bring a date or to have a large dinner party, as that is what we observed. We went in the evening and experienced Bollywood on a large screen with romantic, dim lighting. We will definitely be back and recommend to our friends.
