Mon Nov 12 2007Very cool design...had a Paris 2012 logo on it when I visited. Too bad Paris lost its Olympic bid. Observation deck is nothing special. Coolest view is when you're right underneath the tower.

Mon Nov 03 2003it would be great if the parisian police would clear away the vultures trying to sell tacky touristy items - they just wont take no for an answer and it's not a few there are dozens of them - it's my overiding memory of the eiffel tower

Sat Feb 08 2003The Eifeel Tower is a MUST when going to Paris. You will never forgive yourself if you skip it. During the week the kines are not that long and the price was reasonable. When I was there in March of 2002 it was 7 Euros to go to the second platform. The view of Paris is unforgetable! To see the River, the Trocadaro, Sacre Coeur and the beauty that is Paris is breathtaking. The structure itself is really a marvel and to just know you have been there and to touch it is awesome. I suggest going twice once during the day and once after the sun is down. The lights of the Tower and the lights of Paris will put a large smile on your face, I haven't stopped smiling yet!

Fri Jan 03 2003Wow! On our last night in Paris, my partner wouldn't tell me where we were going nad he led me to the Eiffel Tower which was all lit up and looked absolutely amazing. I decided to take a photo from right underneath it and thats a really interesting view to take of it - you should check it out and then we went right up to the top. Because of the time of year that we went (November) it wasn't that busy, but I'm still so glad that we did it. The view of Paris is absolutely amazing and the journey up was great - especially with being in the midst of the structure. We then went up some stairs so we were out in the open air and we were at teh highest peak. This is something that I will never forget and I can't wait to visit Paris again.

Mon Nov 11 2002I took the stairs to the second "pallier" and avoided any lines or crowds. There is a cost for this but it is very cheap. This is high enough to get a gorgeous view of the skyline! Without a doubt worth it!

Mon Nov 11 2002Hi my name is Sarah Kimball and I am a student at Tufts University. I am writing an article about online reviewers and sites and I was wondering if anyone wanted to let me know about themselves, how they started writing reviews, why the do it, how useful they are etc. Email me at [email protected] and i guess we'll see how easy it is to contact other reviewers! :) p.s. j'aime le tour eiffel

Thu May 30 2002It was certainly more massive than I had envisioned. I didn't bother to go up the tower simply because of the extremely long wait in line. Still, it was very impressive.

Fri Nov 02 2001Talk about a symbol of Paris... I recommend going at night when the lights are on - it's especially beautiful and romantic, just like the rest of Paris. As Wiggum says, it is a mandatory stop. Don't settle on admiring from afar...

Sat Oct 20 2001huge hunk of triangular steel saved you hundreds of dollars with those few words. this "monument' was actually a monumental waste of time. under no circumstances would i suggest going here.

Mon Jul 02 2001I suppose you just have to visit the tower when you go to Paris. And I suppose it is quite an engineering fete. But I asked myself. Why? It doesn't serve any purpose. It seems they've ran out of ides what to do with it! And quite ugly when you get right close to it. And what a drab colour it is!And far to expensive. My advise to anyone visiting Paris is. "Give it a Miss!" Spend your time and money seeing something else.

Mon Apr 09 2001If there is a better experience to have in one's life than having dinner at the Jules Verne restaurant at the top of the Eiffel Tower with someone you love gazing at the glitter of the City Of Lights below.....I haven't had it and don't want to know what it is.

Tue Mar 27 2001Sorry, not worth the money, the crowds, and the endless wait. Some city tours include a visit to the roof of an office building, which gives you a great view...and you can take pictures of the Eiffel tower in it. Go the the Place du Trocadero and walk all the way to the wall nearest the Eiffel Tower. It is the perfect place to take a picture of you in front of the Eiffel Tower. After all, how lese will you prove you've been there?

Tue Jan 09 2001Nice for the historical aspect. Too crowded with tourists. Too expensive.

Fri Dec 15 2000This is a must see from the outside, especially at night. However, it's not worth standing in line and paying as much as they expect for a crowded view of the city. Paris is best seen up close and personal anyway.

Thu Dec 14 2000This is a very beautiful attraction especially at night when the lights are on. I wanted to go on a tour up the tower. In French, it is "La Tour Eiffel." It is really romantic.

Thu Dec 07 2000The view is amazing but the price and lines put a major damper on the enjoyment. Go at night for an amazing view of Paris by night.

Tue Dec 05 2000I stopped by the Eiffel Tower on a clear, warm night, sat on a bench at the base, drank a few beers, then walked up the stairs to admire the view. And it's an amazing view. If you're taking your first trip to Paris, you don't need anyone to tell you that the Eiffel Tower is a mandatory stop. Even today, it's an impressive structure. And the view, history, and atmosphere make it a unique and worthwhile place to spend some time.

Tue Dec 05 2000An amazing experience to be able to go to the top and see the wonderful views of Paris. It is expensive for tickets to the top and I also dislike the advertisments of lights they placed on the tower. But of course, it is a must see when going to Paris.

Mon Nov 13 2000Located right off the Seine River the Eiffel Tower is a must see. You can wander around the tower and hang out in the Champ du Mars, which is a great park for a picnic, at no charge. If you like, you can take elevators to various points on the tower. I think it is kind of expensive though. Also once it is dark the tower lights up and sparkles.

Wed Nov 01 2000Standing underneath this grand structure was so historic for me. Ascending this tower just as millions had done before was breathtaking. I had a great time talking to people from all over the world. I'm from Mississippi and I actually met people at the top who were from there. Nothing beats trying to ignore the gypsies who ask everyone for money at the bottom.

Tue Oct 31 2000LONG LINE!!! I thought it was odd to have to pay a lot of money to see a free view. Gorgeous view. Too many people! Good excercise walking the stairs- I like that there are options- walk or elevator. I got some gorgeous pictures of the city.

Mon Oct 23 2000The lines are too long. Prepare to throw something off of the top. Be sure to bring binoculars.

Mon Oct 23 2000Small fee for elevator, fantastic view once you reach the top. Both new and old sections of Paris can be seen.

Fri Oct 20 2000This thing is pretty impressive. Be sure to check it out at night.

Fri Oct 20 2000It was okay, because when I saw it, it was only a few inches big. But because we were so far away and you could still see it, that was amazing to me.

Thu Oct 19 2000It sounds crappy but really is amazing. Really big. Go at night, have a beer and look at Paris. You can even write your name on it.

Tue Oct 17 2000The Millennium/New Year's crowd was the best. I had fun there and the place is so pretty.

Wed Oct 11 2000The guidebooks aren't kidding, it's a must-see if you go to Paris. The best time to go is right around sunset, so get the view in both daylight and darkness. Most of Paris is visible from the top observation deck, and the city lights at night are breathtaking.

Wed Aug 02 2000One of those places that you have to see, and you are glad to have seen it afterwards, but at the moment of seeing it, you are wondering what the big deal is.

Sun May 28 2000This is where I killed my first pigeon! So because of this somewhat unpleasant experience I can only give it a four. While up at the top my girlfriend spotted a pigeon that had a broken wing or something and couldn't fly. She was convinced there was no way it would survive up there and somehow convinced me to corner this helpless creature, pick it up, and carry it in my hands (yes I know this is where everyone says "do you know how filthy those things are?!?") all the way down in the elevator with everyone else. Who of course are staring at me like I'm nuts. So I don't know if it was the pressure or what but the thing goes into convulsion in the elevator starts squirming and croaks in my hands.

Wed Jan 05 2000It's like the Empire State Building with a different view.

Thu Dec 02 1999The best time to go is an hour before sunset-- get there before the crowd does. It was my favorite experience in Paris
by anne416om
Thu Oct 28 1999It tends to be very overcrowded. It is impressive but not spectacular.
