Tue Dec 07 2010Eggnog a.k.a. Egg-Ah-La-Barf, Egg-Puke, Egg-Nawg and Egg-Nawggy is a runny, unholy, milky, eggy, mixture made with eggs, milk, nog, and recycled placenta. Unfortunately, relatives force their family and friends into drinking this concoction during the holidays because they have run out of everything to drink and the stores are closed. Recipes vary, but apart from the aforementioned eggs, milk, and nog, and placenta there are recipes that include formaldehyde, uranium 238, arsenic, ground kittens, nutmeg, cinnamon, spam, meat tenderizer, breast milk, and bah humbugs. Doctors recommend avoiding Eggnog prior to swimming, eating large meals, boarding a plane, giving birth, or having your teeth cleaned. Side effects include a strong urge to listen to Barbara Streisand music, watching River Dance, quoting Pee Wee Herman, strange desire for Larping, and finding Sandra Bernhard attractive. Historic archives indicate that Eggnog has its origins in ancient Deutschland. Records reveal that anci... Read more

Mon Dec 06 2010I'm not a big fan, but I'll drink it. Particularly if you put a shot of brandy or dark rum in it.

Wed Dec 12 2007I can't stand the stuff, it tastes awful, and having the appearance of uncooked scrambled eggs doesn't help much either.

Tue Nov 28 2006Seems to hit the store shelves just before Thanksgiving and stays until January. We associate it with all the winter holidays. Probably bad for the heart - the only acceptable way to drink something predominantly made of heavy cream - but my son and I love it. Good with a little cinnamon on it if you are drinking it NA.

Thu Nov 23 2006I don't know if anyone in my family likes it any more. The last few years, what I had on hand sat too long and I wound up throwing it out. Even though I don't drink, I do allow alcohol in my house. Even the hard stuff, nobody ever seems to want. A few years ago, Turkey Hill put out a eggnog flavored ice cream and it must not have gone over too big because I haven't seen it since.

Mon Dec 19 2005I HATE eggnog. It's the one thing that is always on the Chrstmas spread that I ALWAYS skip over. I don't know, it just makes me cringe. It smells bad.

Sun Dec 18 2005Eggnog with rum and nutmeg was always a favorite Christmas tradition. Alas, as I have grown older I've become slightly lactose intolerant so I can no longer handle this stuff. So sad... BTW, don't ever buy the Silk Soy Eggnog. It tastes like moldy ass (or what I would imagine moldy ass to taste like).

Sun Dec 18 2005Try Bud's. The best you can buy in a store.

Sun Dec 18 2005Egg nog is pretty much a defining drink for the Christmas season. I can never seem to just sip it slowly - I just gulp it down and go for another. It does taste a lot better with rum and nutmeg added. A short version of another of my long stories - when I was in eighth grade, I had a pet guinea pig who my father started feeding egg nog to during the holiday season. After Christmas, when my mother stoped making egg nog, the critter went berserk when he didn't get his accustomed egg nog in the morning - squealed, chattered, knocked over coffee cups (my father also thought it was cute to have the guinea pig eat with us at the breakfast table, much to my mother's displeasure). He finally settled for coffee and milk again (which my father had gotten him used to before the egg nog episode). OK, so now you know - I come from a somewhat eccentric family.

Sat Dec 17 2005I guess there really isn't any other time of year to drink egg nog, but its not something my family ever did, and nothing that I try to incorporate as part of my Christmas.
