Edvard Munch, a.k.a the dude who did the Scream is a Norwegian Expressionist with a very bleak outlook on life. His sister and mom died when he was a Kid, his dad was overly Religious which added to his anxiety, and he was sick a lot. Edvard Munch will surely be considered the greatest expressionist for years to come. His use of color, texture and contrast to evoke strong emotions was masterful!

Do I need to say more than "Scream"? I myself have made a painting inspired by that painting by the Norwegian Munch. The two best Munch museums lie in Oslo.
