The success of the gym is strongly reflected upon by its leadership. When I needed to cancel my membership, the front office staff told me that all I had to do was write a letter stating the reason. When I sent the letter, nobody got back to me, after several attempts to reach the management by email, phone, and voicemail. A month later after calling again, the manager who got on the phone was rude and unapologetic, and hung up on me before I was done speaking. I wouldn't recommend that place to anyone!

I've been doing POWERHIT for about three months now and thought it was time to weigh in. First, everything people say here is true. And I have a few things to add. The progress I've made in the past few months has been amazing, way more than ever before. Also, the only thing better than the progress I've made is the potential that I can now see in myself. This really is a life changing thing. The positive impact on my body, as well as my personal and professional lives has been marked. I can't say enough good things about this gym and this program. Honestly

I moved to NYC 10 months ago. It took me 9 months & about 15 trial gym memberships to find EXACTLY what I was looking for. I had no idea a gym like this even existed. But low & behold, all of my prayers came true & EDGE shed a ray of light in the concrete jungle. As a former division 1 athlete (Geaux Tigers!) I have no patience for all of these fake gyms with no back bone. So here it is people, the best gym in all the world. Best trainers, best equipment, best of everything, no question. And most importantly, a place where real athletes can thrive.

Edge isn't just your average gym. It is well run with several programmes and classes for all levels of fitness. Safety and fitness are a priority at Edge.Convenient hours. The staff and management are extremely knowledgable and really care about the members of this gym. I have joined several gyms before and lost interest ater a few months. This one is a keeper. Highly recommend it!

I have joined more gyms in my life than I care to count and like many people, I paid the monthly fee for absolutely nothing but a feeling of guilt. EDGE will be the last gym I join because they have me as a customer for life! When a coworker first brought me to EDGE, Denis explained that the reason people don't go to gyms once they join is because the "one free lesson with a trainer" most gyms offer isn't enough to teach people how to train on their own and keep them coming back. He's right, I always felt intimidated and like I didn't know what I was doing and the lack of individual contact made me feel invisible... so soon I really was invisible. Bally's, NYSC, I've tried them all. Powerhit was the best thing that ever happened to me fitness-wise. It's individual attention twice a week at no extra cost. It's really building my skill set and confidence, not to mention my strength, so I know I will be able to keep it up on my own when the time comes with the continued emailed weekly w... Read more

EDGE is where you come when you want to step it up and start seeing real change in your body. As a former dancer, I wanted to find a way to stay sculpted and in top shape. The PowerHit program at EDGE was my answer. I have been at EDGE for over a year now. I've dropped ten pounds while doing the PowerHit program, overhauled my diet with the help and advice of one of the owners, and have made a bunch of friends in the process. I am now in better shape than I have ever been, and all my friends ask about how I have managed to make such noticeable change in my body. I always tell them: EDGE. Another notable about this gym: both co-owners go out of their way to make members feel welcome, often greeting them by name. You're never just a random face in the crowd or a dollar sign. Can you say that about your gym?

I live in Hell's Kitchen and I make the trip all the way to the UES just to go to this gym because there is NOTHING else like it in the city, and believe me, I've looked! As a female, I never thought that I would ever lift weights. I liked tossing around a football with friends on the beach, or playing frisbee on a sunny day in the park, but I never played on organized sport or even went to the gym more than once every 6 months. Then I met Denis. Denis is the owner at Edge and he changed my life. He got me so excited about weight lifting that I can't believe I've never done it before. As a woman, it is totally empowering. I love walking onto a gym floor and being able to lift heavier weights than some of the guys do. And ladies if you think lifting weights gets you "big" you wish! I'm stronger because of Denis's program at Edge, but I am no bigger. I wish I could have some biceps to show off how proud I am of the weight I can lift, but it's just not possible for us ladies to grow m... Read more

I recently joined EDGE and have no regrets. I have had my share of disappointments with other facilities and felt that I was throwing my money away. I know I am getting an incredible experience at EDGE. The personal attention from management is second to none. Nowhere else have I seen such dedication to members. It is encouraging and inspiring. The facility itself is impeccable and conducive with positive energy and motivation. Walking in there only amplifies my desire to have a great workout. I am also part of the Powerhit program, which I joined only a couple of weeks ago but already see and FEEL results. The almost instant gratification has helped me tremendously both inside and outside of the gym, but even more importantly, has kick started my realization of the long term results I am going to achieve and sustain. All of the unmatched amenities coupled with the passion of the people working there put EDGE leagues above all other workout facilities. I recommend EDGE to ev... Read more

You could be a face in the crowd at New York Sports Club, slowly getting bored until you stop going. Or, perhaps worse, continuing to go and just spin your wheels, not making any progress. Or you could spend your last penny on a Reebok membership, maybe get a chance to play pickup basketball with some minor celebrity. But when you get home, you're just a nobody, "going to the gym" to keep up in the r at race. Edge brings out your inner athlete -- you're motivated through the owners' knowledge and the great equipment, provided in a clean, stylish setting. When you get home from a Power Hi t workout, you're somebody. And the next workout, you try to surpass who you were. These reviews are great and they all speak the truth. Don't be scared off if it sounds like too serious a gym for you. Edge is a respectful place where people with pro cards, sport-specific athletes, and absolute beginners mix together and everyone values the same thing -- hard work. No one cares what you can o... I've been in gyms for about 18 years now, all over the world and for a variety of sports, and none compare to the Edge in terms of its commitment to excellence and focus on results. Edge offers "Powerhit" -- a training program provided to any member interested and willing to commit -- which I've never seen another gym do. Imagine, you're getting a weekly training program from a top trainer, free of charge! And this program even includes "fun" things called "Minis", which are competitive and short fitness tests where you can challenge yourself to be stronger, faster, better ... I say "fun" because they're usually pretty painful, but always worth the pain! :) Another plus for me is that the gym is never crowded, and the crowd that IS there is very inspiring. People take their training seriously! All in all, I would recommend Edge to anyone who wants a REAL gym -- a top-notch facility, fantastic trainers, and holistic commitment to training and health.

I joined Edge shortly after they opened three years ago. I am 45 years old and hadn't worked out in over fifteen years. Denis was amazing and put me on a program that has literaly changed my life. When I first started there I couldn't even run on the treadmill- walking only for me! Three years later I have completed three marathons and finished my first Triathlon last weekend finishing fourth in my age group! These guys are amazing, the price is right and you owe it to yourself to come in and take a tour. You will not be disappointed!

I have been going to gyms my entire life and I have never had such a positive experience that I have had at Edge. The trainers are motivating and super informed. All the staff from the owners on down take a great amount of pride in their job and the service they provide. The gym was obviously built by serious lifters as every last detail has been considered.

Edge gym is just awesome...it is immaculately clean and very well maintained. Powerhit is a personal training program that is guaranteed to kick your butt on every level imaginable. It is by far and away the best workout ever. And, there are bikes, treadmills, and weights galore that you can do on your own if you aren't into the one-on-one training.

I am on the USA men’s basketball team for 2009 Summer Deaflympics. In New York City, I was trying to find the best gym in which has great trainers. I was highly recommended to the Edge gym for committed athletics and others else. I came to the gym to see a friendly trainer. The trainer seriously got what I need help. I had been working out with the trainer for two months. Now, I am in the top shape. I absolutely pumped for all basketball games in the Deaflympics event. I truly thanked to the trainer so much. The gym has great equipments for me in need. It is very nice space that keeps me feel very comfortable, enthusiastic, and committed to something else. It is very greatly suitable for me. I am the second person who highly recommends you to this gym! Hope you are next.

I am a former NCAA Div. I deaf shot-putter and currently a deaflympian. I have been to Edge since summer 2007. I am glad that I made a right decision to choose this gym. It is hard to find a gym like Edge in New York City. Edge offers a sport-specific program for serious athletes regarding its philosophy. Its trainers ensure safety that they would assist you to do proper techniques of lifting and exercises. If you have any question for them about exercises, they would be pleased to help you. Edge trainers, staffs, and clients are friendly that they will be greeting you when you come into the gyms. Edge is also great for deaf clients since its staffs and trainers are willing to communicate with deaf clients in different ways such as a gesture or writing down. In addition, some of them like to learn sign language to speak with deaf clients. Edge has provided a closed caption on plasma TV as well. Edge’s overall environment, which is great, keeps me motivated to lift weights. I have been ... Read more

Great trainers at Edge! They pay attention to what you say you need help on, provide great consultation and it actually suits your needs as opposed to some packaged workout that some people use for EVERYBODY when we all have different bodies and problem areas. I'm throughly satisfied with Edge! Yay!

I have been training for 5 years and for the last 2 at EDGE. If you are serious about getting results whether it be improving your fitness, strength, or just interested in being healthy this is the place for you. The best part of the gym is the friendly, non-intimidating atmosphere. The equipment is top-notch, brand new, and clean. The locker room and showers are immaculate. And there is never a wait for the cardio equipment but I am afraid that after writing this review this relatively undiscovered gem on the upper east side might get a little more crowded.

I have just started working out at this gym this year, not much previous experience. This has been a great experience and I can't wait to get back there once my current injury has healed. The gym, on 2 floors is very clean and all of the machines are in excellent condition. I have never seen it crowded and the other people who workout, seem very serious and reservedly friendly at the same time. When I have been there without a trainer, if I look a bit confused, someone will come and ask me if I need help without being pushy. The locker room is small but has everything one needs and the gym is perfect, overall.

Edge is by far the nicest gym I have ever worked out at. For the last 2 years I was a member at a chain gym, and injured my shoulder while improvising an exercise on another machine because the gym was so crowded. Fed up, I went to Edge and it was the best decision I ever made. First of all, the gym is beautiful, the weights are always in the right place, the gym floor is clean, their cardio equipment isn't covered in sweat (and there is never a wait). They have a good selection of machines and even have an area where you can perform deadlifts and other exercises. Sean and Denis are both very knowledgable and when I told them about my injury they gave me a personalized workout program and are there to offer advice and answer questions when I'm working out. They also have a GREAT smoothie bar, nice locker rooms and classes (which I have not taken but based on the quality of everything at Edge I'm sure are great). Once my shoulder is healed I will be signing up for their High Inte... Read more

This is an amazing gym. The equipment is excellent, and there is plenty of it. The space itself is beautifully decorated, bright, spacious and clean. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and the atmosphere is never intimidating. Being a member of this gym would benefit anyone; a complete novice or a serious weight-lifter; male or female; any age, shape or size. There is also a great smoothie bar for post work-out snacks.

This gym is the number one place in NYC to learn and peform NO-nonsense effective strength training. The equipment is top notch bar-none and the facilities are pristine. The owners have a wealth of practical experience that will help anyone at any level of fitness achieve their goals. As a ex-competitive weightlifter whose focus is now on health, I can honestly say this is THE PLACE TO TRAIN regardless of your level- beginner or seasoned advance trainee.

This is a GREAT gym! The equipment is amazing and there is a broader selection than any other gym I have visited or seen. I never have to wait to use the machines, and I never feel intimidated to go workout. They even have pilates equipment which is something I definately want to learn to do. The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable, professional, encouraging, and SUPER NICE! The gym floor is clean, airy, and bright, which really gets my spirits up to workout. They even have a waiting area with a plasma TV to enjoy before or after your workout. I'm also excited about taking one of the pilates or yoga classes. Their smoothie bar has some great choices, but the staff is always willing to let me create my own drink too! The staff is so personable and friendly! This is such a fun, HEALTHY environment...EDGE is really the greatest gym in New York City!

The guys who run this place did everything right. In my 15 yrs. of memberships to a variety of NYC gyms, this has been by far the best experience. Every piece of workout equipment has been well thought out. The space is open, comfortable, and clean. There is a high level of professionalism and respect that is refreshing at a gym. The training staff is extremely competent and the employees that I've encountered all go the extra mile to make you feel at home. It's like belonging to a private club on the Upper East Side.

I joined the EDGE gym looking for a getaway place to train. I'm an in-home personal trainer, USA Triahtlon Coach and Competitor. Every gym I go around the US and Europe people want to ask me questions and interrupt me with nonsense ALL the time. What I got from the EDGE was the best gym experience ever. Their state of the art equipment as well as an extremely caring staff make for the BEST experience. The staff watches you like a hawk, to insure safety and the most productive training every time you're there. The equipment ranges for use for advanced athletes/dancers to those who require rehabilitation. I also like the seclusion of the location. When you get there, the only thing to is workout intently and intensely! The atmosphere is inspiring, motivating, and encouraging. And, they have a juice bar that rocks. I recommend joining if you're someone who wants the best!! JM

I've been in more than 100 gyms all across the country and haven't found one nearly this nice!! The top-notch equipment, gorgeous layout, and friendly crackteam of staff really makes this gym not only worth every penny, but worth every second spent in it. Have not had a personal training session, but have met the 2 owners and would venture to say it would be worth the price of admission to spend an hour with these 2 guys just learning as much as possible from them- add a workout and they might as well be paying you to be there! Attention to detail is incredibly obvious when you walk in to a beautiful array of mirrors that showcase like lights that make it seem like it should be a club somewhere in Vegas! Even their juice bar has 100% Crushed Fruit Smoothies with No Added Sugar! Forget going out for a smoothie anywhere else- you might as well go right up to the club when you're in the mood for something refreshing! As a self-employed professional trainer who's seen and used a great many gyms I can tell you that Edge is unique for the forethought, experience and expertise used to assemble New York's best collection of fitness equipment in an aesthetically beautiful setting. Passing through the glass-walled lobby and past the locker room's undulating venetian plaster walls you will immediately know that Edge is unique for its immaculately clean and elegant yet comfortable environment. Leaving the locker room and walking onto the adjacent weight room floor you'll find the best collection of resistance training equipment in New York, including several pieces that cannot be found elsewhere in the City. Edge is equipped to produce serious results and some members will need instruction in the use of this equipment. They'll find the best possible guidance from Edge's owners, its staff trainers and a select group of rigorously screened independent trainers, all among the industry's best. Walking through ... In Short A symmetry of chrome and mirrors creates a focused space where clients work at refining their own lines. The gym's two founders--former body-building and power-lifting competitors--believe in balanced, full-body enhancement, and have shaped their gym accordingly. They've chosen the best machines from almost 20 brands and grouped them by level of difficulty, not circuits. Pro-athletes train in one area on rare, advanced machines, while beginners can learn the basics during super-customized private training sessions.
