Sun May 10 2009. . . . compared to what? If you're at Outback and you're mistaken for a veliciraptor, then maybe. But, generally speaking, I'll take my chances and take it medium rare.

Sun May 10 2009depends on what kind of meat...limited amounts of low fat beef are ok....skinless chicken breasts or low fat pork and fish can contribute to good health. Meat in general isn't unhealthy...

Sun May 10 2009Have no doubt that meat eating can be risky for your health. but heck it seems like just about everything is. If I avoid everything I would stay in the house never drive. stay away from other people etc. what a rotten life. I am sure red meat in particular is not so good in large portions. but got to eat some of the things i like. I can understand maybe cutting back. and eating a non meat dish. but i am going to die someday anyway. so cannot avoid everything.

Sat May 09 2009"Lots of" makes me think of the movie where John Candy ends up having to eat this steak the size of a cow. Just watching that could put you off meat for a month. I'll go along with those who mentioned moderation as the key - as it tends to be when it comes to almost anything. I've always thought that if you ate about as much meat as you find in Asian dishes you were probably hitting the mark fairly well nutritionally. My mother was from a family that spanned a couple of decades and the kids who grew up during the depression with less meat and more veggies vs. the ones who came along after when more meat was available had less weight (and other health) issues at an earlier age. It's just common sense.

Sat May 09 2009Eating meat for every meal is not necessary. There have been a lot of times when I have eaten completely meatless meals. I'm sure people are sick of hearing things of this nature, but balance is what it's all about. In my own opinion, I think a person needs a little of every food group in their diet, but it's all a decision that we have to make on our own.

Fri May 08 2009Moderation is the key... Hupersons are physiologically omnivorous, but tend to gluttony during times of relative prosperity. Those who gorge on animal fat oft die of the clogged artery.

Thu May 07 2009Define lots. Then define what kind of meat. The define the preparation techniques. Then let's talk. That being said, I can pretty much guarantee that eating 12 pounds of pastrami a day for a year is going to knock at least a couple of months off the old life expectancy.

Sun Mar 12 2006Hey, I'd rather die early getting my fill of American hamburgers and chicken, instead of eating veggies on a daily basis. Meat is our right as Americans and I'll keep eating meat as much as I want. P.S. I'm not a lard butt either.

Tue Mar 07 2006Whether this is true or not; I'm not about to give up being a carnivore. Numbah: share the steak! :-)

Tue Mar 07 2006Intensely alert, and with his face covered with viscera, Frogio looks up from his kill. The dingos are moving in fast....the overindulgince will have to wait another day.

Mon Mar 06 2006What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
