It depends on how you look at it. First of all - how often do you resort to fast food and how do you define it? If you count the alternative items that are now offered in several of the chains - such as salads, wraps, yogurt, grilled chicken, baked potatoes, etc. - then you really can manage to eat there and not blow up to the point that Omar the Tent Maker is your new personal clothier. And, as far at the more fattening fare goes; once in a blue moon for someone who is active and eats well otherwise will probably not cause any real damage either. Like they say - moderation in food and drink is always the way to go. I think it's when we severely limit ourselves that we tend to eventually go off the deep end. A quirky little human nature thing. Obviously when you make a pig of yourself with grease and fried food day in and day out - you will either die or at the very least eventuallly contribute heavily to the retirement funds of a large portion of the medical community.

A silent killer. Obesity experts say can shorten your life span by 15 yrs. I try to limit my fast food to just once a month, now that Im in my early 30's I need to chill out a lil.

Nothing wrong with fast food once in awhile. It just requires smaller portions and balance.

eating fast food is NOT good for you. I eat it on occasion and i am fully aware not good to eat. but if i avoiding every possible way I could die. I might as well stay in the house, do nothing. I am going to die one way or another. might as well do a few risky things.

Risk? The only risk is if I don't get enough! You only live once dudes! Unless you believe in reincarnation, if that's the case let me sale you some magic beans that will take you to Excolore, the land of cute trolls and shiny wizards! Give me a all American burger.

I eat it seldom now, but that bucket skipping image with those two is so scary, Grimace himself couldn't get me back in a McDonald's, that's so gross I'm gonna have a nightmare. Thanks earthbound, I owe YOU a horrible image now ..

If Genghis and Szin ran stark naked across the interstate with buckets on their heads THEY would not be the only ones giggling at their good fortune. It's safe to say that earthbound's continued skepticism would be in order.

Life expectancy does decrease when you're eating crappy food. Obesity being a problem, and the interesting stuff that is added to the food, isn't that great for you. . . . but neither is the thought of two nude men holding hands and skipping across the interestate with buckets on their heads.

Earthbound, I have two points in reply to your post: 1. I was not deriding the notion that fast food is bad for people. I think I'm still alive IN SPITE of my diet. We are in agreement that greasy, fat-calorie laden edibles should be consumed rarely, if ever. 2. If I had to run stark naked (save for a bucket on my head), hand-in-hand with GTH, across the interstate or anywhere else, I seriously doubt that my reaction would be to "giggle" at my "good fortune," regardless of whether I was struck by a car or not. And depending upon who would see this, I might consider being tagged by the front grill of an SUV in the 3rd lane to be the preferable option. And none of this is meant to reflect negatively on Genghis. ________________________________________________ Based upon this category, I should've been dead before GWB got elected to a second term. It may cause my premature expiration but considering all the food preservatives I've consumed over the years from Wienerschnitzel, Bu... Read more

Pretty risky, to say the least. The evolution of our diet is no longer in step with our physical evolution and study after boring study has confirmed that fast food increases risks of heart disease, obesity, etc. There is almost no point in trotting out the arguments, as well worn as they are. Genghis and Szin can tell me all the stories they like about longetivy in spite of eating junk food - I wish I felt reassured, but I'll put it this way, if genghis and SZin ran stark naked, hand in hand, over the interstate with buckets on their heads and emerged unscathed and giggling at their good fortune, I would continue to feel skeptical about following in their path. So carry on boys, by all means, and keep lucky.

I try to eat as little of this crap as possible, but I'm as weak as anyone else. And, uh, earthbound, Szin, Genghis...... That was an image I didn't need in my head. Funny as it was.

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
