Yesterday, the 17th, my nieces were dropped off about 1:25 pm or sooner when on early release day school does not get out until 1:30. My nieces were missing for several scarey moments. since the Oceanway Middle school principal did not want to acknowledge there is a problem with dropoff times and the school board, threadcraft, also doesn't want to acknowledge there is a safety problem, I have to write this. I ask something be done to protect our children from an avoidable situation or accident. The principal responded with the 10 minute leeway paper that was sent out. My brother-in-law was at the bus stop at 1:30. They were nowhere in sight and he waited until when he thought the bus was to arrive. The girls had already walked home alone. I talked with Amy Lengrum at the school board and she said they would look into it. i told her about predators in the neighborhood and she said their everywhere. (sarcasm not necessary) When the mother of my neices spoke with Threadcraft, she said she... Read more

On the moring of October 9, 12, 13 three differnt children who walk to school down Connie Jean Rd. have had a strange man in a vehicle trying to lure them into his vehicle. On the morning of October 13, at 8:00am a parent walking her child to school noticed this vehicle approaching a little girl all by herself being followed and talked by this man, he asked her to get in the vehicle and he would take her to the store and get her some breakfast and give her a ride to school. I personally called and spoke with the principal Michelle Floyd-Hatcher and she expressed to me that she was aware of the situtation and had not followed up with campus security to see if they had followed up. I also asked her if the JSO had been contacted and she said she had NOT personally contacted them and could not confirm whether or not campus security had notified the local authorities and filed a report. I also asked why she did not send any notifications out to the parents regarding this SERIOUS issue. We w... Read more

Several teachers at Southside Estates Elementary school are so lazy, they require the school bus to pull right up to their feet to unload and load. This causes the driver to have to #1 to put the bus in and out of gear and releasing the emergency brake twice or more. #2 continue to have to move the bus on school grounds with children on the sidewalk. All of this because the teachers cannot walk these students literally 20 feet. I kid you not, 20 feet. This would be amusing if not for the safety of the students. One teacher has told the drivers that she will not be available to take the ESE students into the school after 8:30 AM, and the aid would have to bring them in. Why? Is she that more important than doing her duties which includes meeting the students? The Vice Principle walks around like she is lost. I would love to put this on America's Funniest Video but I don't think too many parents would be happy with how this school handles safety of students on a daily basis.

All i heard when I moved to Arlington was "Terry Parker is the best school around". Well i have to tell you that if you are thinking that then you are very blind. The principal at the school has now made a rule that no book bags be allow in school. But they still want the kids to bring all that stuff they require to school. It appears he is afraid someone will being a gun to school. OK, instead of targeting the kids that do that stuff let make it hard on all the kids. Yes i mean PROFILE THE KIDS THAT DO THIS. Am i Bias, HELL YES. I have a kids that goes to school and does well and is punished for a few thugs that want trouble. So give them all the trouble they want. Then the friends of the thugs will turn them in if they want it to stop. In my opinion Terry Parker is the worst school for education leaders i have ever saw. If you want to set down an beat the point a little let me know, because that's not all that goes on there either.
