Sat Jun 19 2010Absolutely .... if the cause merits it. ... Believing so strongly about something that you endorse it with your life ... Selflessness is at the core of the belief system which I try to aspire to. Dying in this manner means that your death wasn't just another death in the great sea of humanity but that it purchased something important for the people you care about or for humanity in general. I think just as important though, is how you approach it mentally, you shouldn't do it with the express goal to be remembered or approach it hesitantly. You should be doing it because you, personally, are absolutely 100% without-a-doubt certain that whatever is currently going on in the moment is more important than your life. Then you act, irrespective of the consequential suffering to yourself. Centuries ago persons used to aspire to what they called the "honorable death". A death that is a courageous, selfless act that benefits the people, causes, or belief systems we care about is probably ... Read more

Sat May 22 2010This would be cool, and hopefully would put God in a good mood. God: Well Gris, I see that you abused drugs and alcohol, knocked up your girlfriend twice while living in sin and that you like to sleep in Sundays. I also see that you lied a few times, Stole a Yuengling Beer sign, cheated once or twice in school and coveted your neighbors Corvette. But on the other hand, you did save that old lady from a crazed Chimpanzee while pulling a puppy out of a burning building. Come on in, you pass. Sadly, the reality remains that I'm neither noble nor selfless. It is unlikely I that I will check out this way.

Sun Jan 31 2010To be remembered at your best, wouldn't that be away to go? I mean...preferably and hopefully they would be something typical to your nature, but despite that. A good way to die, probably not the most pleasant however.

Thu May 21 2009As opposed to a cowardly, selfish act? Like...instead of getting stabbed in the chest as you step between your friend and the guy wielding the knife, you get stabbed in the back as you run away after pushing your friend towards the knife-wielder to buy yourself a few extra seconds of "escape time" (the knife guy is fast, though, and stabs both of you)? Sure, why not? All in all, though, I'd still rather die peacefully in my bed while asleep.

Mon Apr 20 2009Example: A captain giving his life for his crew during an emregency. A courageous and noble thing to do. Would show the kind of person that individual really is.

Sun Mar 29 2009Dying a hero is noble indeed. Not everyone could do it but those that do are remembered as selfless in the eyes of those that benefit from the ultimate sacrifice...

Sun Aug 24 2008I don't want to be overly cynical about this, but you're still just as dead as if you died like a damn fool.

Mon Jun 09 2008When altruism takes over, the senses are altered and people do unimaginable selfless acts without considering for a moment the consequences. Death becomes a "reward".
by myspace_387493239
Mon Jun 09 2008dying during a virtuous act may be painful...but saving someone else from that fate certainly is a way that I'd choose to go if I had to choose - myself or someone I cared for? It would be me
