The premise is great: build a dungeon, raise an army of evil minions and kill the heroes. The execution even starts out well, but it all falls apart in 3D first person. Trying to lead your forces from this horribly-designed game mode fails completely. Too bad it wasn't optional. This game comes from an era where 3D first person was still something of a novelty, so, at the time it may have been excusable, but now, it's virtually unplayable.

Considering it's from 1999, this game is pretty good. By today's standards it isn't as good, but, it's still worth checking out.

By this point hundred and hundreds of PC games have been released, so it's kinda hard for a title to come out that is comprehensively original. But this game is something else: tons of fun to play, and truly unique. There are two big problems: 1. The thing is full of bugs, and the company that made it is now defunct, so there won't be any more patches issued. 2. It won't work on Vista. Sure, there are ubergeeks here and there on the internet that claim to have gotten it to work on Vista, but their instructions are super-technical and risky (e.g., altering registry values). You can get it to work on XP in compatability mode (with Windows '95) just fine, but the graphics have, at least for me, failed to work on three different Vista machines. I have a wheezy old XP computer that I'd like to toss in the closet. But this game is the only reason I keep it up and running.

After playing so many different games on both PC and consoles and of different genres, many haved asked which was the best game I've ever played, and my answer has been Dungeon Keeper 2 for the past 10 years. Interesting enough, it was the first game I ever played on a PC. I still rememer the time when we got the game for $10 and my husband, boyfriend at the time, would stay up all night playing this. One night, I just happened to be talking to him while he was playing, and immediately my eyes were glued to the monitor as soon as I saw the graphics. Yes, when the game first came out, the graphic was amazing for its time. However, I can assure you the graphics alone was the least thing I cared for after I learned what the game was all about.First I had a lot of fun being the evil dungeon keeper. Your curser is in the shape of a hand and you use it to click buttons on the menus, move gold around, pick up creatures in your dungeon and place them where you want them to be, and slap your cr... Great game, when it works. It needs to be run in compatibility mode and the 1.7 patch available for the game does not run under this CD. It needs an original CD, not the re-release from EA. Paid 44 bucks for a game that crashes every few minutes.

This is one of the most fun RTS I have ever played. You get to slap around your minions, torture the good guys, and pretty much have a blast being evil. The bile demons are great, and the dark mistresses laughs are creepy. This has a very good sense of dark humor, and I would not recommend it to anyone under 13, or anyone who didn't like dark humor. We got Evil Genius because we heard it was made by the same people. Evil Genius does NOT hold a candle to this. I still play it a hell of a lot, and I still have fun with it. The only problems I have is the fact that it tends to have problems with the videos on my computer, pretty much not playing them. And the fact you cannot get multiplayer to work. If the multiplayer worked, there would be no question about giving this game 5 stars.
