Too far right leaning and ultra conservative for me. He sponsored a bill in 2005 that supporting rights for pre-born human persons. In other words, life would be considered to have begun at the moment of conception and "it" would have been given rights immediately, without an amendment to the consitiution. The hearings were scheduled for late 2006, but never took place. He has slso stated that if he were to become President, he would spear head the building of a 754-mile double layer border fence which could be completed in less than 12 months. As I recall Germany tried that as well and it didn't work either. Personally, building a fence is just a waste of time to me. I think we should just buy Mexico, fix it up a little bit, and flip it to another country for a profit.

Didn't he leave Congress to take a job as a lobbyist for a defense contractor? The revolving door between Washington and the well-connected industry interests continues. My guess is that Hunter to making far too much money to even consider making a run for President.

Having seen this man on the C-Span "Road To The White House" coverage, I thought this was the man I wanted to vote for in the 2008 primary, but dog gone it he kept on mentioning in every speech about his son being in the military and I found out some of his views did not agree with my views (His son is now in the U.S. House of Representatives seceding his father). However, I thought he had enough experience to end this "war" going on. Getting this economy back up, more jobs and Social Security are the main issues right now. Social Security running out of money is a very serious issue. They believe by 2016 that Social Security will take in less cash than it spends. Medicare could be drained by 2017. The Social Security Trust Fund will be exhausted in 2037.

Another one who may have a bright future, but he needs to gain more experience before shooting for the highest office in the land.

a good representative for his district; he should look towards a State position before he tries to become President from the H of R.

He is excellent on the illegal immigration issue and that is a serious problem that needs to be fixed sooner than later. This issue affects so many other issues like education, economy, traffic, taxes, etc, etc. So it's actually multi-issued. He needs to have a good debate with other nominees on immigration.

I respect Hunter and his view-points, except for the foolishness of the border wall. However, Hunter was an irrelevant candidate in '08 and in '12 he will only be older.

He is certainly conservative enough, but he needs to win a statewide election before he can be thought of as a realistic contender. If he can't become a governor or U.S. senator, what chance would he have of winning a national election? To me, his name sounds like someone looking to shoot holes in donuts!

I like Duncan Hunter, but I can do little more than echo what has already been said by a few others. He lacks the name recognition on a national level. If the Republican party as a whole got behind this guy and helped to promote his ideas he could very well stand a chance.

Unelectable, and will only get more unelectable as times pass.

Was the best Candidate that the GOP had this time around.  His platform fit all Americans no matter what your political stance is.   That's Conservatism in a nutshell.  Doing what's right for America and not burdening anyone.

Up and coming figure in the party? Perhaps, but for the record I want to state his name sounds like someone on the Disney Channel or the host of an MTV beach party.

For the sake of objectivity, my 5 rating may be more an expression of hope than analysis of possibility; but this would be a wise move for the GOP.

He needs to get his name out there to be considered a real possibility. I think his attempt this time around ended so early just because not enough people outside of California knew who he was.
