It's an old story. Liquor and a friend who needed to move in a big hurry screwed up my lower back permanently. Dr. Devine restored it to great working condition. I was especially impressed by how Dr. Devine kept up with my progress and modified his approach over time. He taught me a number of stretching and strength-building exercises that I do semi-faithfully, and my back has improved to the point that I'm training for this year’s Jingle Bell Run. A year ago, that would have been unimaginable. Finding a great chiropractor or massage therapist is like prospecting for gold in the desert, but here you can find both. The service is wonderful! So far, I've had the pleasure of working with the two different massage therapists, Stephanie and Tyler, (I consider them artists, sculpting an undulating medium of pain and grotesque misalignment into a serene placid plane, sort of like deconstructing the gates of hell into a sunny meadow somewhere in the Alps). And yes, let me discuss th... Read more

I'm very close to agreeing to knee replacement surgery but I decided to try every option open to me to avoid it. I had limped on a sore bent knee for over 2 years. I was not able to walk with foot flat on the floor. Within the first week, I could walk with my foot on the floor without pain. Really just amazing.

Some people are afraid to go to chiropractors because of bad experiences with others. I hear you. I ran away from this other chiropractor before I found Dr Devine. Some chiropractors are very pushy about how often you have to go, and it scares people. People don't want or trust someone who acts too "sales-person-y". Dr Devine is not pushy at all, and I really like that. I have neck/shoulder pain and tension, and I always feel so much better after I see him. Also, he often shows me exercises I can do on a balance ball to strengthen areas of my neck/shoulder/back that give me problems, and he has even discussed my work out routine and what exercises he thinks are more beneficial or harmful. Once, when I used to work 1 block from his office, he even came to my desk and checked the ergonomics of my chair and computer set up. I stopped going for a while because of my insurance/job situations, but I missed it. Also, the receptionists are so personable and easy going.

As an LMP I am very picky when it comes to who I recommend. They have to meet my own standards of patient care, listening, doing the RIGHT thing and really hearing what clients say. Dr James is all that. His warm personality couples with amazing skill and the willingness to hear your desires and adjust his techniques to meet (exceed) your expectations. No diamond in the rough here - a truly honed, honest and polished gem of a find! Dr Devine is who I send my patients to. Dr Devine is who treats ME. And that is saying something if you know me. :) I'm monster picky!

By far, Dr. Devine is not only divinely - no pun intended -competent, he is also supremely effective in his treatment! In my most greatest need for truly immediate, results-oriented care, he not only delivered but he also demonstrated the most genuinely caring and compassionate care I've ever experienced from a chiropractor. He always "begins with the end in mind" and treats you intentionally with a "divine" plan of healing in mind. Typically listening intently to my compliaints, he would immediately set out to skillfully and gently apply his well-honed interventions that brought relief, but also would always send me off with some homework "booster" exercises. My follow-up appointments were consistently helpful, and his successful pattern of treatment lasted to the very last day of seeing this divinely gifted practitioner until I left Seattle for Philly - and I'm still searching for someone just like him! He's truly one of a kind and I'll never forget his par excellence service, evi... Read more

I usually don't write reviews online, but I had to make an exception to write about my experiences so far at Tuttle & Devine Chiropractic in downtown Seattle. I work as a ICU/Recovery room nurse, and I am also an avid runner. I injured my back from overuse last year, and sought numerous doctors and other health care specialists (physical therapy, massage therapy) for help this year , including other chiropractors. I really didn't feel that I got any better after seeing the other chiropractors until I went to see Dr. James Devine & Dr. Nathan Moore recently. I was getting frustrated that I wasn't getting any relief from my low back/hip pain, and a nurse friend suggested I try chiropractic again. So, I found Dr. Devine through Citysearch. After reading the glowing reviews about his practice, I decided to try chiropractic again. Well, after about 5 visits now, I have literally no low back/hip pain !!! Dr. Devine has such a great bed-side manner, and he is so easy to talk... Read more

About 25 years ago, I was diagnosed with an inner ear imbalance. I met with hearing specialists, had an MRI and CT scan done and was told there was no cure - it was something I was going to have to live with. After receiving approximately six treatments from Dr. Devine (Tuttle & Devine Chiropractic Center, Seattle), the dizziness was 100% gone! Prior to treatment, I was restricted from doing so many things; i.e., yoga, swimming, etc.; but now I can finally get back to enjoying life to the fullest! I absolutely recommend Dr. James Devine - thank you for giving me my quality of life back.

Nothing beats coming down for a treatment during one of my coffee breaks when I'm having a stressful week. I've already referred my friends and family, but I just thought I would share my great experiences with everyone. Dr. Devine is the BEST!!!!!

I have spent the last three months within the Group Health Coop system going from specialist to specialist just to get a diagnosis for my severe leg pain. I was given narcotics for the pain but no diagnosis and no effective treatment. I was told it might take a year to get out of pain - still with out receiving a definitive diagnosis. I went to Dr Devine and he was able to diagnose my problem right away. After only 2 treatments my pain subsided. Dr Devine said the treatment would take a week to get out of pain. I am so relived to finally know what the problem is and that it is treatable with out surgery.

I have had chronic insomnia for the past 8 years. I literally could not go one night without a sleep aid or I would stare at the ceiling the entire night. I have been on prescription sleeping pills for years, gone to sleep clinics, sleep inducement classes, you name it. I had given myself different tests over the years, saying just tonight I won't take a pill and sure enough I would be up the entire night with not even one hour of sleep. That was until a month ago... I was so tired one evening, I told myself I would not take a pill yet, but later I would. Much to my shock I woke up the next morning after 9 hours sleep. That had never happened to me once in 8 years. So I tried the same thing the next night, saying just tonight. Well that was over a month ago. I know my sleep now is due to my adjustments from Dr. Devine. When I come in to see him I leave feeling so much better. He had said when I first started coming to him proper chiropractic adjustments lead to restful sleep, but ... Read more

Both of them are effective and personable in delivering the treatment. I can certainly feel the difference before and after the visit with them.

Dr. Devine, recommend Orthotics for my feet. Most of the time my feet were in pain when I walked on them. I purchased them and they are the best money I spent. I haven't had a problem since. The most pain was when I was working my second job on the weekends. Since I starting wearing them, my weekends aren't nearing as painfull as they use to be. Since Tuttle and Devine moved to a more central locatation in Seattle it is more convient to go to him. He can always get you in for an appointment whether you make a scheduled appointment or just walk in. The door is always open. Targetred Seattle, WA

It was the first time I ever go to see a chiropractor. I just got into a car accident and my back hurted really bad. I never really know anything about chiropractice. When I told my bf that I was going to see a chiropractor b/c normal doctors just gave keeping me pain relief medicine, he was suspicious. He even told me that you know it's also called "alternative medicine" right?? So anyway, I just wanted to say that it works !!! I am so happy. I just went to see a chiropractor from this place this morning, and now the afternoon of the same day, I felt much better. Reading a bad review about this place on citysearch made me wannna comment good thing about this place b/c I almost cancelled my appointment this morning b/c I did not want to waste my time with something that is not going to work. Thank you doctor !!!

Ive been a pt of Dr. Devines for the last 8 years or so now and I had to kiss a lot of toads before I found him. Personally I hope he does make millions of dollars a year because he is worth every penny. The man is a gem and talented beyond belief. Not only is a really sweet man, down to earth, caring - he is extrememly good at what he does. There have been many a time that if I had gone to my regular dr. for problems I was having there would have been x-rays, mri's, ct scans, steriod shots and pain pills. I go see Dr. Devine and he says "oh you have a rib out" *krrrchunk* and its back in place and the next day I feel good as new. You should never go to a chiropractor without a good referal - I found that out the hard way. Lucky for me my massage therapist reffered me to Dr. Devine. I dont know what I will ever do without him. I hope I never have to find out.

I have been to a couple of chiropractors over the years and I can honestly say Dr. Devine knows what he's doing! This is not a "in & out" type of place. Efficient though! Dr. Devine sits with you and explains in detail how he works along WITH your body to not just adjust the spine, but in turn make a well-oiled machine where all of your parts work even better together. This isn't just lip service either! He KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING! Very professional, yet totally compassionate. So knowledgeable and imparts it in an educational way to me so I feel like I'm getting the information for my benefit. Hands down (no pun intended!) he's the best here in Seattle and I will be coming to him as long as I live here! :) Thanks Dr. Devine!!

Dr. Devine is without question the top doctor in downtown Seattle. Being a doctor myself, I appreciate all that Dr. Devine has done for me. I practically learned how to adjust from Dr. Devine and learned more about myself as a doctor in one year (as an intern of doctor Devine) than I did in 8 years of college education. I go to him myself for care and would trust him to adjust anyone of friends or family, including my 3 month old daughter or my 80 year old grandmother. He is genuinely kind, extremely effective and he has transformed the lives of 1000's of people. As far as I'm concerned, if you are using these reviews to make a decision on a chiropractor-stop wasting your time and make an appointment with Dr. Devine today. You will wish you would have meet him a long time ago.

Thanks to Dr. Devine, I am in the best health I have ever been in. With his help, I have gained freedom of movement and am now pain-free. Before seeing Dr. Devine, I suffered from almost-constant piercing pain. Chronic neck and back aches were limiting my activies and causing me to lose sleep. Dr. Devine was able to find the origin of my pain and explained how chiropractic care would alleviate the cause of my pain, not just mask its symptoms, like pain killers do. My aches and pains subsided within two weeks of starting my treatment. Dr. Devine (you won't believe what incredible shape he is in) even inspired me to begin a weight loss and strengthening program. I am so impressed by the reults of my care and the quality of life I now enjoy, that I refer all my friends to Dr. Devine.

I was referred to Dr. Devine by a colleague of mine. In the course of only one week of treatment, I have experienced incredible results. My posture is better, my focus and mental clarity have improved and of course, the neck/back pain I was experiencing has disappeared. Furthermore, I told the Dr. Devine I had just visited an MD had X-rays and an MRI done on my knee that has been giving me trouble for years. I thought I completely damaged the knew either by mountain climbing or sports. The MD reviewed my pictures and found nothing out of the ordinary. Dr. Devine, in the matter of seconds, corrected my knee (my femur was out of allignment) and it feels as if nothing had ever existed. Thanks so much!

I highly recommend Dr. Devine and Devine Chiropractic Center. I have been to 4 or 5 chiropractors before, but I must say that Dr. Devine has been my favorite. I have been a patient for almost 2 years now and I must say that I look forward to my visits. Dr. Devine has helped treat my ongoing lower back pain that resulted from a car accident that I was involved in over two years ago. My lower back pain has steadily and dramatically improved. The combination of massage and chiropractic care that I continue to receive on a weekly basis have made a true difference in my life. I no longer live with constant lower back pain. The entire staff at Dr. Devine's office are not only professional, but is also as friendly and welcoming as they come. I am not just a patient at Devine Chiropractic; I am more like a friend. What's more my appointments almost always begin on time with minimal waiting ...and for me and my busy schedule, that is always a bonus. Thank you for the great care Dr. Devine. ... Read more

James Devine DC is the best chiropractor, hands down. I spent ten years trying to replace my chiropractor who passed away and never found another decent adjuster until I met Dr. Devine. Dr. Devine has helped me with headache and neck problems that resulted from a motorcycle crash. He has become my advisor on wellness, and I rely on him extensively to help evaluate and manage a multitude of ways of learning to be well. I value not only his warm and friendly demeanor, but his direct way of communicating what I need to know in a way that I can digest it. Dr. Devine has been a major player in fostering overall wellness in my life. He has always been there on a moment's notice during times of acute pain or injury and that says alot since i've been seeing him for a decade. When I was a starving student and could not afford treatments, he worked out a plan for me that made it affordable so that I could continue seeing him. Dr. Devine is not just about getting you in and getting you out. He is really invested in the ongoing improvment and care of his patients. Without Dr. Devine I would have suffered from chronic pain resulting in a much lower quality of life over the years. I have referred many patients to him and even the skeptics have come back happy. Before I met Dr.Devine my health was rapidly declining at the age of 30. I had headaches at least twice per week, i was overweight, tired, and in poor health overall. First, he got rid of my headaches, then he educated me on the basics of how my body works. He gave me the tools to keep my body healthy on my own. No doctor does that!! After seeing Dr. Devine for a short time I felt great, I reduced my body weight, and I started to feel better every day. By using his tools my overall health is continuing to increase. Not only that, but my kids and husband have never been healthier! I see Dr. Devine first before I ever go to any other doctor. My whole family sees him for everything from the sniffles to sports injuries. Thanks to Dr. Devine, our bodies take care of us because we take care of our bodies.
