Wed Dec 31 2008A foul-mouthed, chain-smoking, lusty old man who married a former porn star and left her his ministry. He was not a man of God and the work he left behind is just as tainted.

Thu Aug 16 2007Actually, his antic behavior was so bad, that no remotely rational, honest, or decent person could take him seriously. Therefore, I have no sympathy with his followers who gave him so much money. They deserve to be bilked.

Fri Jun 01 2007What a show! I don't know what was funnier, Robin Williams doing Scott, or Scott himself? (The word "Audit" does NOT appear in the Bible!!) Just dont fall asleep with the tv on and wake up to this guy's ravings. It'll give you vertigo for sure!! RIP Gene. We miss ya!

Mon May 21 2007Gene was a very intellegent man and well educated. Aside from that, he was running what amounted to a cult. I never heard him ever encourage anyone to search the Scriptures for themselves to see if he was teaching correct doctrine. It all had to be filtered through what he wanted his flock to hear and believe. This is so typical of most TV/Radio preachers. Their ministries and their success hangs on their personal credibility. So it ends on being focused on them instead of focused on Christ and the word of God and searching the Scriptures. I am all for teachers, preachers, pastors and theologeons, but the bottom line is we must take the concepts and doctrines they teach, and we need to see if they line up with Scripture. That is what being a Berean is all about.Today, his daughter is up there singing and dressing up like some priest and preaching in Gene's stead. I will sometimes watch their show just out of curiousity, but I have cheched out the doctrine they teach and, as with Gene ... Read more

Tue May 01 2007I vaguely remember seeing Scott on a UHF-TV channel sometime during the 1980's, wearing what looked like a Burger King crown and vociferously ranting on because his followers weren't sending in enough "love offerings" and obviously didn't appreciate his teachings or interpretations of the Bible. He seemed like an aging crack-pot; not quite as entertaining or flamboyant as Jimmy Swaggart or Robert Tilton, but just as seemingly demented. Just recently, I've come across his his wife, Pastor Melissa Scott, on late-night cable-TV (I channel-surf; after all, how many MASH re-runs can you watch?). She's young, extremely attractive, sexy, and actually appears to have intelligence. I subsequently did some research on the internet and learned that Dr. Scott has died, she's his widow, and is evidently continuing on with his ministry. She also allegedly is a former prostitute and porno actress (I'm not into porno, but she's pretty stunning looking, and it would be interesting to see something blue... Read more

Tue May 01 2007This wackjob and his scribblings are both humorous and annoying at the same time. On the one hand it's comical to watch him sit there feeling all self important and ego maniacal, lapping up the attention he gets from the brainwashed crowd (which is what ALL preachers REALLY do it for folks) , and on the other hand it's nauseating to see the enormous cult of wasted minds he perpetuates.

Fri Mar 02 2007Dr. Gene Scott was an amazing preacher. He did know the true word of god, and he was smart- He could write the scriptures in all the original languages. He was fun to watch on TV. A bit crazy but still awesome,. He really kept me on the edge of my seat. The world will miss him.

Wed Aug 16 2006Whack Job Extraordinaire. Or maybe not. It all depends on whether he really thinks he is a man of God. If so, he is the number 1 nutjob of TV evangelists. On the other hand, if he beleives himself to be a top-notch con-man, then he is an absolute genious.

Sun Oct 30 2005This man is a real HOOT but I'm not sure what to think of him otherwise. He jots down all this stuff on his boards. What is that all about? Then he goes on to talk about the many text of the Bible. Both of these actions confuse me! But at least it makes me laugh! PS: The only reason I give Dr. Gene Scott 3 stars is because Dr. Gene Scott disagreed with Paul Crouch. Then Paul Crouch had Dr. Gene Scott kicked off TBN. TV Evangelists UGH!

Mon Aug 15 2005He could be inconsistent. On the one hand, he preached that Christians are free from the Law of Moses, but he still believed in tithing, which would have cost him too much to repudiate. One lady said he was just like Jesus, but did Jesus host exclusive banquets at Chasen's Restaurant for people who could give him the most money, or did he feed the poor? And at Gene's church meetings, he specifically said that no one was allowed to even approach him or his parents at any time. Was Jesus like that? Romans 12:16 says: Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. I heard Gene say once that he doubted that the book of James had any right to be in the canon of Scripture. Funny thing, James Chapter 2 has plenty to say about now showing partiality to the rich over the poor! But at least Gene kept people entertained on long, lonely nights.

Wed May 18 2005What I saw of Gene Scott on TV years ago was that he was running a dangerous cult where his followers seemed to be worship him!

Thu Feb 24 2005I am willing to go out on a limb and risk the ire of my Christian friends but the fact is I liked the late Dr. Gene Scott. Although I had not viewed any recent broadcasts he was the only television preacher that I would watch back in my pre Christian days when I was a kid and had a desire for knowledge about God outside of my Catholic text books. He once gave 10 logical reasons which proved the existence of God and to this day I still remember some of them but more importantly, it made me think and also confirmed my inner feelings that I was on the right path in my personal search for answers. I know that I am more lenient than most and I found his attitude and cigar smoking amusing more than sinful or arrogant. But Billy Graham couldn't do it, Fulton Sheen couldn't do it, Garner Ted Armstrong couldn't do it, Oral Roberts couldn't do it, in fact none of the TV evangelists from the 1960s could do it, but Gene Scott could hold my attention and as a youngster I was a regular viewer of his... Tue Feb 22 2005Update: This man died today - I'd hate to be in his shoes......He shouldn't be listed as an evangelist. He's a comedian, a caricature of what skeptics like to imagine when they think of television evangelists. I can't get mad at him, because he isn't fooling anyone and doesn't appear to be trying to. He is openly rude and arrogant, conceited, greedy and cynical. And he's quite pleased with himself in the process. Anyone with intelligence knows that he doesn't love you or care anything about you. If he were actually deceiving someone into thinking he is led of God, then I would be angry. But none of us are that stupid. Just laugh at the guy and move on.

Tue Feb 22 2005The late Gene Scott was a fraud. Believed in Faith Healing but will still go to human doctors to get his cancer cured. Also didnt he commit blasphemy on his show one time.

Fri Feb 18 2005This guy will not happen again. A modern day Isaiah, complete w/o the pants. I suppose that is blastphemy to some.

Fri Feb 04 2005Dr Scott is not for everybody but the truth is in the teaching and i have learned a great deal from this man. He smokes the cigar and dresses funny to run off the riff raff. If money were his objective he would have retired long ago. I have a tape where he said he would preach until he died, so tune in and let's see what happens.

Sun Nov 14 2004An intelligent and learned man in the area of biblical languages. Much less strange the older he gets. His teaching can be quite usefull.
by bebe23
Fri Sep 24 2004Boring and repetitive. I don't like his program. His wife can sing, just not that well. UPDATE: His cancer has spread to the point where he has handed himself over to the secular medical establishment. This must be a great blow to such a big faith healer.

Wed Sep 01 2004If Dr. Gene Scott and (famous auto racing driver) A.J. Foyt aren't the same person, how come you never see them together? Something tells me that they're brothers. On TV, Dr. Gene is as entertaining as an A.J. Foyt pit stop. Hilarious, bombastic, and true Americana.

Tue Aug 31 2004He's a scam artist pretending to be a preacher of the clowns. All he wants is your money..nothing more, nothing less.

Wed Aug 11 2004Gene Scott is eccentric in the the most extreme of things, but he is honest about it. I wouldn't give him any money.

Fri May 28 2004People who rate Dr. Scott without at least a few hours of listening have no basis whatsoever for an opinion. They have no clue as to whether he is putting them on or not. What is obvious is that this is an intelligent (Stanford PHd!) Christian leader, NOT a TV evangelist, who knows the Bible in several languages and screens out fools by his presentation. Remember the part about not casting pearls before swine?

Tue May 25 2004Gene Scott is the worst nutcase of any televangelist. He is definitely the shock jock of televangelism.
by godsquad04
Thu May 20 2004There is something seriously wrong with this man. He preaches his messages while smoking a cigar, getting angry with his camera men and staff and cussing at them, is so vain, blasphemes God and Jesus, the list goes on and on. I wouldn't send this false prophet the time of day. I pray for the souls of people like this, that God will open their eyes to the damage they are creating, and to the countless number of people they are leading astray!
by docfan
Mon May 10 2004Dr. Gene Scott led me to Jesus Christ. He teaches faith not works, like the apostle Paul. Most Christians today are living like the Jews of Jesus day, offering their works for righteousness. Doc teaches that above all things you must trust God, no matter the circumstance.

Wed Apr 14 2004Aside from the seemingly arrogant and righteous exterior, he routinely revelas a kind and compassionate interior. He is an outstanding teacher who is worth listening to. Very intelligent and scholarly point of view to investigate.

Mon Mar 22 2004This man has to be mentally ill. I'm not kidding. There is something seriously wrong with his brain. Anyone who takes him seriously has some probelms, too. C'mon, people! Go to a REAL church and hear someone with sanity and intelligence! This bizarre TV guy is a nut!
