Mon Jul 12 2004I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota with 79,000 miles on it. No problems to speak of. Overall, a solid truck that's fun to drive.

Thu Jun 24 2004I used to own a 2001 4x4 SLT, and it was slower than my friends stock V6 S10. I was quite irratated when my V8 lost to a S10

Thu Jun 03 2004I currently drive a 1994 Dakota and it was my first car. I drove back and forth (45 minute round trip) to school for 2 years and I've never had a problem with this truck.

Sat Feb 21 2004Bought a used 1991 version of one of these when I started renovating to haul crap to the dump and back from the Home Depot. Paid a couple of grand, beat it damn near to death and it still runs like a rather rugged charm. Ugly as a whisky soaked turd, but it keeps going, and that's all that matters to me.

Tue Jun 24 2003I have to agree that this is a well built truck that has plenty of power with te 4.7L engine. It seems to drive really smooth and seems bigger than the rangers or s-10s.

Wed Mar 26 2003Had my Dakota since 1994 and it is still going strong. It has almost 100,000 miles on it and only a few small mechanical problems. Good American built truck for those of us who still buy American that is. With proper maintance I am counting on this truck to see 200,000 miles

Sat Mar 15 2003Pretty good compact truck. It actually shouldn't be a small truck, its more of a midsize truck. But there is no official listing, so it falls in the compact category. Its the only compact to offer V-8 power. Easily the strongest of the compacts, the only downside is predicted reliability.

Wed Jun 20 2001own 97 SLT V8 Club cab, great truck all around, lots of power, great in the snow. Twice the size of S10, it feels like a full size truck.

Sun Mar 18 2001Took delivery of a 2001 Dakota Quad Cab with the 4.7 Liter V-8, Automatic, 3.92 rear end (2WD) and all the stuff. The truck feels vey solid and has power to burn. Ample room for 4 people, cozy for 5 with leather bucket seats. Fuel economy about 17 MPG in mixed driving but is improving as the truck breaks in. Comfortable, no rattles. All round great truck. My first domestic vehicle in 35 yrs.

Mon Dec 11 2000Good solid truck; I've put on 45,000 in 1 year, so the ride needs to be good, and it is. Great motor:I pull a trailer (trailer towing package) and it handles it well. Only trouble is front rotor/brakes, as I've had to machine them and replace 3 times now--seems to be a problem the service department can't correct. (Bigger rotors for towing-package?) Be careful with Goodyear RTS oem tires...they are useless when wet with that power and light back-end, I've had several "on-ramp" powerslides that scared the hell out of me! Getting new tires soon! Much more truck for the money than a Ranger or S-10.

Tue Aug 15 2000Only way to rate a truck is to have it over a period of time. Any truck less than a year or two old should have a good rating. My Dakota has been one reliable, well riding, do whatever I ask it truck. I can not recollect more than 2 non-maintenance problems that I experienced with it in almost 10 years of ownership and over 100,000 miles. I don't know how they are making them now, but Dodge made a great truck back when I bought it new.
