Dixie Chicks

I wasn't exactly a fan before their UK incident, as the only CD of theirs that I had ever owned had long before been given to my little sister as I think I listened to it exactly once and decided I didn't like it. "Good-Bye Earle" was pretty amusing, especially if you include the hilarious star-studded music video, but other than that their songs were mediocre at best. Since they had their mental lapse and insulted the president overseas, they've only had one single, "Not Ready to Make Nice", which just comes across as whiny crap as far as I'm concerned. A few country stations played it, but I think it probably received more air time on adult contemporary stations. I'll say 1.5 stars, and be generous and round up to 2 instead of down to 1.

Compared to the real country singers of mid century, they ain't all that, but I'm givin' 'em an extra star for 'EARL". UPDATE: Their greatest HIT was insulting the pResident.

I don't listen to modern country music, so I can't make any personal evaluation of their music. Still, some respectable critics have said they're good, that they have genuine talent. Too, they had the guts to exercise their rights as American citizens and speak their minds about the criminal gang we had in the White House. As a result, their careers might never recover. Give me liberty, or give me...ah...

I am not a big country fan, but I give the Dixie Chicks credit.They put out fun, toe tapping songs, and have great lyrics. Their political opinions tick off some listeners, but why anyone would care what a celebrity has to say is beyond me.
