If you want to do something very special for the kids, how about taking them to see a live musical show of the Lion King. They will be in OC from 26 May - 13 June. It is a spectacular event where you can feel like part of the jungle. It is at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. And they have tickets going at a really good price from $70 and up. You should visit the world-wide-web at lionkingocpac. They have the exclusive orchestra seating available there. I think this event is not only for the kids, the parents are sure to enjoy as well.

Even though it is super expensive, there is not much better place than Disneyland. Every year I get the annual pass for me and my daughter (the one without blackout dates trust me is the way to go) and I really do get my money's worth by the end of the year. There are so many great rides that we never get tired of no matter how many times we have been on them! Peter Pan, Pirates....and the parade and water and fireworks show are just magical. I love coming after work just for a few hours when we think, what should we do? Lets go to Disneyland!!!! And when you have a annual pass, you don't have to worry about paying to get in or for parking! The best!

Whenever anybody visits LA for the first time, their first demand is “I wanna go to Disneylaaaaaaand”. Well, I’ve lived here my entire life and I catch myself constantly thinking, “I wish I was at Disneyland right now playing with Tinkerbell and Goofey.” Disneyland is truly one of the few places that will instantly smack a smile on my face whenever I think about it, and for that it has to make my list.

Don't listen to the hippies and misanthropes who deplore Disneyland's "blatant commercialism." All children deserve to come here and see real-life versions of their favorite Disney movie characters. When I was here many years ago, I had a wonderful time. The rides were mediocre and the least important part of the place, but the shows and parades (especially the night-time ones, which were beautiful and involved lots of colorful lights) were splendid.

Well........ How can I even start. Fireworks ta night are amazing. Rides are awesome, space mountain is my favorite. Great gift shops for souvineers. I though like the origional disney world better. I was here on the 50tha nniversary with the golden tin mickey mouseee ears Better than adventure land, but six flags is much better. Downtown Disney is awesome with shopping. You will have a blast here, great 3d movies, sonic vision, and technology on the rise. Tommorrowland is great too........... A family fun week can be spent here.

I really love Disney World and the first time I was in Disney Land I was a little bummed at the size of it, but this was a long time ago. The last time I went I was really pleased with everything! The park has changed drastically and I appreciated Disney Land for what it was- the starting grounds for my favorite place! Some of the rides are different in Disney Land and thats why I love! The Alice in Wonderland dark ride, Story Book Land, the different castle and I could go on! LOVE DISNEY!

I grew up in Southern California, until moving when I was 12 nearly 5 years ago. I loved Disneyland and I went at least once a month, if not more. I think back now to the nights when I would watch the fireworks shows with my friends from New Orleans Square, near the ferry for Tom Sawyer's Island. When I think about how much time I spent and enjoyed at this magical wonderland, I start to tear up. It is a beautiful experience for families of all ages. I long to go back now so often. Ever since I was 7 or so, I knew I wanted t work at Disneyland. The place is filled with a magic and a beauty that can only be brought out through a long day of fun. Rides I recommend highly are Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Star Tours, It's a Small World Boat Tour, Jungle Cruise, the Haunted Mansion, and the Matterhorn, basically all the big names in the park. For food, I would recommend eating breakfast beforehand if you are arriving at the park before opening, the food selection in Downtown Disney in th... Read more

It was a horrible experience, definitely not the "disney experience" I'm used to. When I sent an email to corporate about how bad my experience was, I was totally brushed off. Walt Disney would have been very dissapointed. Crowds were fine, rides were OK(actually longer than the ones in Fl.)and it was nice that the parks were so close together. My biggest complaint is the customer service. The castmembers were terrible and complained a lot and corporate doesn't seem to be any better.

I swear to God! Disney? If they could? They'd buy all of Anaheim and move everyone out just to have the land to themselves! You can't get around down there due to all of the Disney bullshit and traffic. They're going way too elaborate for the space that they have acquired.

It's Disneyland, people. Do you really need to read a review to know that it's one of the most magical places you'll ever go. Of course it's expensive, and there are people, but that doesn't change the fact that the instant you walk through the gate, you can't help but smile. It'll turn the most grievous frown upside down. That's what the place does, and it only gets better with age. Each time I come back I still love it, and I feel like that doesn't change. So if you're wondering whether you should go or not...GO!

Disneyland is a quintessential experience for everyone, not just visitors to SoCal. It doesn?t matter how old you are, walking down Main Street U.S.A. and seeing all the candy or the moment you get on the carousel or Dumbo the Flying elephant, you?ll feel like a kid again. Pirates of the Caribbean is especially fun to ride if you haven?t since the movies have come out. First-time visitors to Disneyland who have already been to Disney World will want to try the Alpine bobsled roller coaster-like adventure and the Indiana Jones ride, since those attractions aren?t at the sister park in Florida. Star Wars fans of all ages will want to check out for at least a little bit the Jedi training camp for the little kids; it?s absolutely adorable. Be sure to stay till the fireworks show. I don?t want to give the plot away, but it?s definitely one of the best I?ve ever seen.

The Appeal From the moment you walk onto Main Street, U.S.A., you'll be a believer. Deny it all you want, but take the Disneyland Railroad to Tomorrowland and you'll be on those Astro Orbiters faster than your 5-year-old can say "Mickey." And thanks to the FastPass system, which issues appointment times for popular rides, waits have been sharply reduced. Facts and Features Mickey is king when it comes to Southland tourist attractions. Disneyland is the third most-visited theme park in the world, just behind its sister locations in Tokyo and Orlando, and locals enjoy it every bit as much. Even hardened Angelenos still relish a turn on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. As Walt Disney once said, "Disneyland will never be complete as long as there is imagination left in the world." Case in point: The revival of the famed submarine ride reimagined as a "Finding Nemo"-themed underwater wonderland with many impressive new special effects.

I just wanted to say even in my 30s I still find it enjoyable and fun to visit! It's a place to go with others and not by yourself as I was about to do. If you have a party of 5 or more, then break up into groups (about 2-4/group), or it'll slow you down. Just meet up around lunch and dinner at a restaurant and swap stories. We couldn't do this when I was a kid, cuz no cell phones. Oh yeah I love the tortilla factory, you can eat freshly made samples, so soft and yummy. The clam chowder in the bread bowl is delicious, no need to goto San Fran. The Indy ride was fun and the Star Wars ride still excites (seems dated tho). The Cap'n Cook Exchange can take foreign currencies that other hotels/banks refuse (but at a high commission). Fun fun fun, in the California sun!

Even though the Magic Kingdom at Disneyworld in Orlando, FL is bigger, there's just something special about the original Disneyland park. You just feel the sense of history and mystique in this place. It has evolved and changed throughout the years, there are still bits of the old park found in Fantasyland and Frontierland. My favorite E-Ticket rides are Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. I always make it a point to visit the park once a year.

It's Disneyland so people are still going to flock there but I was shocked to have to pay $66 a head last week to get in. I can't imagine how much a family with kids spends here in a single day - wow! We chose last week to go because we love how the park is decorated for Halloween. The Haunted House is turned into the 'Nightmare Before Christmas' theme and I could have gone on that ride again and again. Pirates never gets old; it's always a lot of fun. I wish they'd get rid of the politically-correct changes they made a couple of years ago, but.... Captain Jack Sparrow and some pals are now peppered throughout, but it still retains it's original goodness. I'm glad that I'm not jaded after all these years...it's still a fun place to spend a day.

As a native Angeleno, I think of Disneyland as my backyard. The fact that I have to pay over $120 for two people just to get into the park stuns me silent. Even the Southern California resident "discount" is not really a worthwile discount. Even worse than the cost are the crowds. These days, you can barely walk around without bumping into some...and the lines for rides...ridiculous. Of course...you could always shell out even MORE money to join the "Fast Pass" crowd and make an APPOINTMENT to ride a ride. It's all so different from the Disneyland of my childhood that it just makes me sad going there. I bid a fond farewell to the "E" ticket rides of yesteryear.

As if Disneyland really needs another review! Oh well! Disneyland is truly one of my favorite places because it really makes you feel young at heart?no matter what your age. There really is no other place on Earth that can make me feel three years old again while in a boat ?sailing? through taverns of singing skeletons in Pirates of the Caribbean or while floating in a buggy amongst friendly ghosts dancing throughout the Haunted Mansion. There isn?t a single ride that I wouldn?t recommend. Alice & Wonderland still captures my heart; the Matterhorn still tickles my tummy; Space Mountain Still keeps me guessing about the next black hole of a turn; and Indiana Jones still has me howling in laughter every time I ride. I find myself to be a 22 year-old child climbing up in Tarzan?s tree-house (although my leg muscles act my adult age) wishing I could live there; and nearly crashing into people passing by, I still admire the castle wishing I could wear my Princess dress and stay forever. But... Read more

It's true about the court being at the top of the Matterhorn.  If you know where to look you will find a  TON of secrets about Disneyland you had no idea existed.  One way to look is to Google it under "Disneyland secrets revealed" or "behind the scenes at Disneyland" for example.  Also the secret "club 33" mentioned exists but for a very very high price!  I know a doctor who is in that club and he has to pay a lot of money each year to stay in the club.  But apparently it's worth it from what he told me.  It's very elite and not very many people are a part of it or know about it.I guess you could say I know a lot of secrets about Disneyland.  If anyone has any questions or wants to know of any good websites about this subject just drop me a line and I will be happy to oblige. To read about the (partial sized) basketball court go to: http://www.snopes.com/disney/parks/matterho.asp...and to see the photo of the actual court go to: http://photoalbums.wdwmagic.com/data/500/5906DL_M_b asket... As a native Angeleno I went here a lot. It is a very fun place for the whole family to go. It is always fun. I love thunder mountain railroad Space Mountain, splash mountain, and Mr Toad's wild ride. It is quite a place to go, but stay away from California Adventures. The fastpass deal in my opinion is also a scam. But if you overlook those 2 small things it might still be the happiest place on Earth. PS- In the French Quarter is a secret club called Club 33. They ultra gourmet food, but to go to a party there you have to have connections. Also did you know that in the matterhorn is a half basketball court for the employees. That too is an E ticket ride. Look out for Mickey!!

I haven't been to this place in 5 years, and I thought it would be pretty lame going back as a young adult, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I rode the new Space Mountain (with the Red Hot Chili Peppers music), and though I thought it was a bit cheesy and video game -esque at first, it turned out to be pretty cool. Another (relatively) new attraction was the Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blaster ride, which was pretty slow, but a fun, interactive ride for kids. And I ate the most delicious clam chowder bread bowl right next to the Pirates of the Carribean ride in the New Orleans area. Everyone in my family, from my grandma to my 11 year old cousin, enjoyed their stay at Disneyland.

Having come here since I was a baby, my childhood (and a fair share of my adulthood) have been filled with memories of Disneyland. It was a real shame this past Spring that they close Pirates, but once they opened it again, I felt the improvements were worth the wait! I can't remember the last time I've paid to get in as my girlfriend used to work for the company and now I do, but I think the admission price is fair. To be honest, the fact that I can get in for free has allowed me to come here far more often than I would normally be able to, but it has also allowed me to really explore the park more. I still love the classics such as Thunder Mountain Railroad, as well as newer rides such as Toontown. I've always had a great time here and can see taking my kids here someday.

Forget your anti-capitalist sentiments for a day and visit this American treasure. Ticket prices are steep, but then again, it's just money, right? If you can accept this premise, then drop everything (but bring your wallet) and ride lots of rides and see lots of shows and smiles lots of times.

The Crowds: True, Disneyland will almost always be packed. There are better times to go, obviously right after the summer season and right before the holiday rush (between September and October) and after the holiday rush but before Spring Break (between January and April). Just expect that things might take longer than you like, however, chances are youll still get to do everything you wanted to. The Prices: Keep in mind how extensive a park youre in. Maintenance for that large of a park has got to be incredibly expensive. Not to mention all the employees, from custodians to security. These people have to get paid just like you and I do. As for the price of food in the parks, youll be hard-pressed to find another theme park with lower prices. Keep in mind that there are plenty of restaurants, such as McDonalds, outside the park gates that are within easy walking distance. Pack a water bottle and snacks if you or your other guests need a re-fueling. Fill up the water bottles at water ... Read more

Disneyland is by far one of the most unique and fun places to visit. Sure, it can get pretty busy at times, but it is still a really neat place to go to. The atmosphere and the rides/entertainment make up for all of that money we lose as well! I have been a big Disney fan for quite some time now and I can tell you from experience that Disneyland is better than ever before with the new management that has taken place. Why just in 2002, Disneyland was in disgusting disrepair - the Enchanted Tiki Room, for example, in Adventureland was falling into such a terrible state that the birds were literally falling apart by the stiches. But with the new management, the 50th Anniversary keeping the good intentions of the Company going, and a recent refurbishment on the attraction, the Tiki Room is looking and sounding (thanks to brand new audio speakers) better than ever before! Disneyland is a place for the family - its not Six Flags and thank God it isn't! Look how unsuccessful Six Flag... Read more

Disneyland is just awesome, the place has a feel to it that just has to be experienced! The place is more like a museum than a theme park, the rides are not super insane, but they sell you on the little details, like pirates of the carribean, Its not super scary but the whole time your jaw is on the boat floor because its so beautiful! Unlike other parks where its the opposite, super scary roller coaster but super ugly and dirty! The employees are very nice, and its not that exspensive. I recommend the cheap annual pass since the days you dont want to go are conveniently blacked out! I need a life, since I'm writing this, heck,I'm goin back to DISNEYLAND. woot woot =)

I always enjoyed going to Disneyland as a kid, and now that I'm adult, I'm very pleased to find it every bit as magical as the first time I went. I never go in the summer or on weekends, which are no doubt insanely crowded. In January and September, lines are very short, the staff seems to be relaxed and the costumed characters are more personal with the kids. Food prices are expensive, but no worse than any other theme park. It's also much cleaner than my last trip 5 years ago. For the best possible experience, go during the aformentioned months and stay between mon-fri. I'd recommend coming to the park later in the day at least once, so that you have some energy left to enjoy the park's beauty at night. Don't forget to buy tickets in advance and take advantage of multi-day/family discounts!

I have been going to Disneyland at least two times a year and I can't get enough of it. I can't believe anyone who would say that the staff is rude and with all the new parades and fireworks this year is even better. The food is great and not as expensive as other places I've gone to. We stay in the hotel which helps me feel like a king and it has great service. I'm going this Christmas so it's going to be even greater than last time. We go to Disneyland every other year for a week, we just love it. Fun for everyone and it beets the real world any day. Were going this year for the first time over the Christmas Holiday. We bought one of the 50th Anniversary paving stones. We cant wait to see it and the big parades this year. Whats with all the whining? Long lines and Crowded: Its Disneyland. I dont go to Disneyland expecting to be the only one there. Expensive: Its not expensive for what you get, Cable TV is expensive for what you get. Disneyland is steel for what you get. Out of Control Children: 99% of the kids at Disneyland are having fun. Take a kid to a toy store and there going to want a toy. Take a kid to Disneyland and they just might act just like a kid.

Disneyland, expensive? sure it is... but then we went to Sea World in San Diego and it cost $40.95 for my 7 year old son's admission. That's a lot of money just to look at fish. The kind of superior quality Disneyland offers is a bargain for what they charge. I'll agree that the food is pricey, though, and that some of the cast members (anyone who calls them 'employees' is out of the loop) have an attitude problem, but when you employ thousands of people you're bound to get a few surly teenagers in the bunch. You can't hold Disneyland responsible for thoughtless moms with strollers or idiots who climb out of boat #4 on Pirates of the Carribean. They may check your purses and backpacks at the main gate, but they can't check IQs. It's still the cleanest, safest, classiest place to take the family. Long Live Disneyland!

Disneyland is for all ages! I take my wife and 2 boys all the time (we have the annual passes). If you go in the off peak months especially Sept. & Oct. you wait less than 5 minutes on most rides. Another good time is mid week in the early evening. With the annual passes it's nice to go for just a couple of hours and still hit 5-7 rides. We got the Deluxe Annual Pass ($189. Ea.) and we go probably 25-30 times a year. That's just $6-$7 per person per trip on average. Word of the wise though - Eat at one of the dozens of restaurants nearby before going in or pack snacks.

How can you NOT recommend Disneyland? It's DISNEYLAND! That's about all it has going for it. Prices are too high, crowds are too large and lines are too long. Your choices are to stand in line for 1 - 2 hours (which I can't believe anyone in their right mind would do) or crisscross your way through the unbearable crowds across the Park collecting and using Fast Passes. Once you collect your Fast Pass, you can't collect another one for a certain period of time, which adds to the down time. The other option is to go as single riders, which isn't possible with younger children. On the positive side, the Park is absolutely beautiful. The Disneyland employees were all cheerful and friendly. We had fun together and our kids got to experience the rich tradition of Disneyland. In that sense, it was all worth it, but once is enough!

We recently visited both Disneyland and California Adventure. This was the first time for our family and the first time for either my wife and I. Our children are ages 17, 14 and 11. We could not have asked for a better vacation this year. It was everything we expected and more! There was no more than a 30 minute wait for any attraction at either park and we only used the fast pass a couple of times. This was out of convienience because we wanted to grab a bite to eat. We traveled by R.V. so our accomodations were taken care of and we made most meals. So our costs were cut considerably (with the exception of gas!) The park was easy to locate and parking was convienient. All of the kids agreed for next year, Hawaii or Disneyland and they ALL want to come back here!

After going to Disney World 4 staright years we decided to do Disneyland last November. We loved it just as much. Yes it's 2 less parks but we covered both parks in 2 days. November is off season so the lines were almost non-existent. For those who say the prices are too high I'd like to know where else they go, all the ticket prices are similar at theme parks that aren't half as nice a Disney and the food is expensive everywhere. Disney is always a great value for us. We will be back in November to experience the 50th anniversary. The staff is not as good as WDW but we haven't experinced anyone being rude. Our only complaint is we've been Disneyland twice in the last 10 years and both times the Matterhorn has been closed and it's a ride that isn't in WDW.

I have never liked this park, even when I was a small child. The rides have always bored me, the lines have always been long, and it has also been too expensive. I know all of the many ways to avoid long lines, but that is only a short fix. The workers are extremely rude to people who they know to be locals also. The food is not good at all and very overpriced. The only time I would go is if someone else were paying and it was a weekday during the schoolyear.

I have been an annual passholder for ten years and have always loved Disneyland. Yet, I am not sure the fun is worth the prices these days. Sure, a pass pays off after just a few visits, but overall, the prices are ridiculous. Sometimes I find the staff to be non-accomadating, but overall they are friendly. Summer is always crowded, no matter what day you choose to go. Some days throughout the off-peek months are fabulous, giving you the ability to just walk through the lines. FastPass and Single Rider lines are the way to go otherwise! I must recommend the newly reopened Space Mountain above all else, because those Imagineers are geniuses!
