I signed a 2-year contract with knowledge that I'd be locked in to a certain monthly fee ($20 first year and $25 second year). However, when I received my bill this month it was $10 more than I'd been told it would be. I understood it would go up the second year, but by only $5. So I decided to call customer service for an explanation. Of course they said they'd 'look in to it' and then connected me to someone who had no resonable explanation for why I am being overcharged and wasn't helpful at all. As I became more upset, a supervisor convenienltly appeared on the line to try to smooth things over! She stated that they can raise their prices at any time and that we are required to pay them. I am so discouraged with this service! How can I be locked into a 2-year agreement paying a set monthly amount, knowing I'd be charged a fee if I cancel, yet Dish Network can increase rates during your contract and hold you liable for the increase! I feel so taken adavantage of and swindle... Read more

It is really bad service, not calling in the USA when calling customer service, Dish Network anytime does not work at all most of the time, and once they get your money, they could really care less about the customer. And I have had it only for 2 days, going to can this service and go some where else.

I know a year has gone by, but after reading several reviews I decided to tell my story. ONE WEEK OF SERVICE is costing me over $400.00 for terrible service I know my complaining is not going get me my money back, but I’ll post this as another displeased customer. What happen to if you are not happy, we will return your money I decided to switch from Directv to dish network, after a slick, fast talking sale rep told me I was going to get the same package (same channels) that I have with directv, with free HD channels and pay $30 less a month for a year. Who wouldn’t switch, I knew it was too good to be true. My dish was service was install on 1-22-2011 and canceled on 1-31-2011. The day after installation, a representative came to inspect the job, and found a number of things wrong. He never called back to schedule an appointment to resolve these issues. •I had no HD channels at all (wrong dish) not my fault •Did not have the same channels I had with Directv •The channels I did get ... This company doesn't understand what it means to have customer service! I have never dealt with ruder people in my life. I was literally yelled at by their customer service specialist. The signal on our TV was lost. I called in my concern. I was on the phone with 6 different people for a total of 50 minutes. When they told me that a technician would have to come out because there was probably a wire loose, I asked how soon it would be until someone could come out. I called on a Monday night. They told me the earliest appointment they had was a Saturday afternoon. I asked if they had any technicians on call... they said "no". Every technician was booked until Saturday. This would leave anyone to believe that either 1. they do not hire enough people to work for them or 2. they have that many issues they need to fix! I am only giving 1 star because I was asked to provide a star rating. I believe this company doesn't deserve a star at all. All I have left to say is, I am no longer a custom... Read more

I HAVE ONLY HAD DISH NETWORK FOR 6 HOURS AND WISH I COULD GET RID OF IT. I DO NOT LIKE MY STATIONS AND WAS GIVEN THE WRONG PACKAGE TO START WITH. I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD AND WOULD NOT ALLOW HIM TO WATCH THE CARTOONS. I WISH I HAD STAYED WITH COMCAST. AT LEAST HE COULD WATCHED TV I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. SOME OF THE CARTOONS SHOULD BE X-RATED. PLUS THE PACKAGES ARE LOUSY. I WISH I HAD ASKED MORE QUESTIONS AND TALKED TO MORE PEOPLE. THANKS DISH NETWORK FOR TAKING TV AWAY FROM A FOUR YEAR OLD.

I hate to post negatively about a company, almost never do, but this is absolutely absurd. DON'T GET DISH! First of all, they use vendors to make their sales and install their product and their vendors will tell you all kinds of lies. Secondly, I have had them for about 10 months and wanted to entertain the possibility of leaving them so I phoned to request how. They discussed a contract, which I never signed or received. I asked for a copy of this and explained I save all documents. They claim that if i didn't sign it i'd have to pay a $100 activation fee (which I still don't understand) and if I did they 'd send it to me. Well, i got it...and it was FORGED in three locations! So obvious were the forgeries, they actually misspelled my name each time!

DISHNetwork is terrible all they do is lie lie lie about everything. I contacted them about why my bill was so high and if there was a cheap package I can change to. A couple days later I got an email saying that "I cancelled my service" I never told them to cancell it,I asked them about changing to the Family package instead. So now they want me to pay them to restart my service even though they cancelled it and not me. I paid my bill every month and they still treat me like this.

I was a dish network customer for many years. Each time that a billing change was made you didn't get notified of it until the bill was received. The finally straw was when i had a problem with receiving the signal and a sub-contracted rep came to my home. The bottom line the rep FORGED my name on 2 different contracts. I received those by e-mail the next day. DON'T USE DISH NETWARK. i give no stars to dish netwark

This is perhaps the worst company in the world for customer service. I've dealt with some poor customer service, but nothing quite like this company. Funny thing is, this opinion did not come about from existing service I had at my home, but from a call to get service hooked up at my vacation home and send them more money each month. I was on the phone for over and hour and a half and transferred to five different people with poor customer service skills as they tried to figure out how to establish an account at a second home. I can't be the only person that has ever wanted to do that, can I? The fifth person also couldn't figure it out and since I had been on the phone for so long and cell battery was about to die, she said she would call back when she figured it out. She did not call back for two hours, giving me enough time to decide this is not the company I wanted to be giving any more money to. The service had been so rude, they acted as if they didn't want me as a customer so I... Read more

The reception is terrible and the customer service is even worse. They are strange enough to choose to disconnect my boyfriends service, and move mine and hook it all up, go from his 98.00 a month account to my 36.00 a month rather than just cancel the remaining 11 months on my contract. So they will loose over 700.00 in a years time not to mention the money to pay the tech to unhook his and hook mine up. Need we explain why they need more money and keep raising rates?

We have had this service less than a year and we have nothing but problems. The T.V s have to be restarted all the time. Any kind of rain or snow and you will have complete signal loss. Stuck with this system 2 year contract. And everytime it breaks and we can't fix it over the phone they charge a $15.00 service fee to come out and fix it, they said we should be GLAD we only have to pay $15.00 because a regular service fee is $98.00. I hate them, if I could go back in time I would have never gotten dish!!! Seriously thinking of sending a big box of my dogs poop to the corperate offices!!!

I had Dish Network for approx three weeks. The installers were two days late, one trip they said they couldn't find us..lol..The Installers showed up with the wrong equipment, ( they were suppose to bring a special part) but, someone in the office, forgot to tell them...I actually had to go to my work shop and provide the installers with MY phone equipment to get the system installed, there's didn't work. We finally got the equipment installed and the picture was similar to using, rabbit ears, that Bad...lol..They sent 6 People, separate times, out to repair our situation, well that never worked out either, still same bad picture. . So we instructed them to send the boxes and we would remove the equipment. My wife started to disconnect the connectors outside and they were all loose, THERE WAS MY PROBLEM., BUT IN TEXAS its hot, NO ONE WANTED TO GO OUTSIDE AND CHECK THAT PART...Now Dish has debited my debit card for $ 420.00 because, THEIR people are lacking training, and organizationa... I first started with DISHNETWORK when they first rolled out in 1996... 15 years later I'm still a customer and now they are treating like CRAP yes you heard correctly!!! I have a huge problem with signal even on a clear day with sat 119 but they want to charge me and I have all their stupid warranties. I pay almost $200 monthly and they want to charge me for a mistake that they made!! I also was PROMISED the HD receivers and SLING all for ONLY $99.00 the supervisor said if the call drops I will call you back BIG FAT LIE (Ben) gave me his direct number. What good is it, when you NEVER RETURN the CALLS?? Anyway, it took almost 3 months to get my $50.00 back because I returned a receiver which I owned and they said it didn't have a smart card and it cost you $50.00. Huh? What in hell would I need with a smartcard?? It was in the machine when I sent it back!! If they didn't look or took it out to fix it and forgot to put it back after being repair or if they damaged it, isn't my fault. ... Read more

For some reason Dish will not send bills to PO Box only to street address. That is so weird. Some people only use PO Box. I only get my mail from my PO Box,but they send my bills to my house and then it is sent back to Dish and they say they don't send bills to PO Box.

I've had Dish Network for several years. Sometimes I'd lose the signal. No big deal. But recently it'd go out on the most beautiful clear evening with no clouds in the sky and just the slightest gentle breeze. It really didn't bother me too much. Then when I wanted to go online and have a look at my account. Typical customer. I don't remember my user and password. So I try to get some help from their "Customer Service". Ah no, that's not happening. I now have called 8 times with no resolution. I've been on the "customer support chat line" twice, and tried the email support too. I demanded to speak to the manager and was hung up on by a woman named Nicky. Twice now they've said they were resetting my password and that I have to wait 24hrs before it resets. Does any other company run their business this way? Not if they want to stay in business. I used to be happy that I was using Dish Network. It felt good to not use those other guys. I don't like the way they treat people either....or ... Read more

We switched from Direct Tv to Dish Tv 3 months ago...and regret it! We have had nothing but problems and on our 2nd to last call we told them we were having a problem and the customer service rep said, "I don't know what to tell you." My husband called yesterday to ask if the position of our dish needed to be adjusted because we kept losing signal and the rep said we would be charged 15.00 and another 50.00 if it had to be adjusted. My husband said that didn't seem quite fair and the rep said, "You signed off on your set up contract that everything was fine." How would we know if the dish needed adjusting until AFTER we have been using it for a period of time. I miss Direct Tv and the only reason we changed was because of pricing. BIG mistake. Do not sign up for Dish...Direct beats them in customer service and programming.

My DISH network experience was a trip I'll never take again. The service was frequently interrupted, and not by weather. My monthly bills varied, but I suspected that it was because of the billing cycle, some months having more days. After one year, (I'd thought I had a two year price guarantee) it hit the fan. My bill shot thru the roof. I tried to explain to DISH that, since my husband had just lost his small business after more than 40 years, I was financially unable to pay more than $60. a month for TV service. "You can lower your package options, and save money," one rep after another told me. We do not watch movies, listen to music, need ESPN, sitcoms, reality shows, etc. But we do watch CNN and MSNBC. The package that I could afford offered FOX, but not MSNBC. I always explained that I do not choose to get my "news" from the media arm of the Republican Party. Apparently, viewers get to be indoctrinated and brainwashed by the right wing if they can't afford a better package t... Read more

I had dish network several years ago and WILL NOT ever use it again. I lost EVERYTHING in a house fire, and I mean everything was in ashes, melted or water damaged from the firefighters. I had Dish Network and called them to explain and I was so shocked and horrified by their response. I asked them to wave the cancellation fee and just transfer service, they empathically said, "NO!" I would have gladly transferred service to my new address, but they said it was not possible. Even though I was a month shy of my contract expiring, the charged me a $250.00 for cancelled my contract and insisted I send the two burned, melted and mangled converter boxes and remotes back to them at my expense. I told them if they wanted the boxes back they could come and get them at their expense. They also tried to bill my insurance company for the boxes and remotes. I'll stick to cable, thank you very much.

I would prefer to give Dish zero stars. They are totally dishonest in the presentation of pricing. We were told that our price was guaranteed not to go up for 2 years. We were locked in. The price would not change. We signed up on 12/22/10 and our bill starting 2/1/11 went up by $5 per month. At the time we signed up we spoke with the salesman regarding a clause in the contract stating that Dish reserves the right to adjust pricing and were told that it was an outdated contract: Dish had gone to a new price guarantee structure and the contract wording had not caught up. Our price was guaranteed for two years and there would be no increase. When I spoke with the salesman who sold the contract to us he was appalled. He tried to intercede, as did Costco, where we made the purchase. Unsuccessfully - we are being credited $5 per month for the next year, then will have to pay for the increase AND Dish reserves the right to continue raising our price at any time for any amount they choose... Was looking up good movies to watch and went to starz.com to look over the free channels we were getting. While I was on the website I saw that Encore and EncoreWam was listed as well. If these channels were listed on the Starz website...why weren't they BOTH included in the Starz package? I logged into their website and started a chat. I even offered to give up another channel to get this one channel (so it still wouldn't be free because I'd be losing a channel, but at least my monthly bill wouldn't increase). This wasn't possible. I asked about adding the extra channel as part of the Starz package since it was obviously included or we wouldn't have had one of the two channels. This wasn't possible. The representative I spoke with said that I would have to go to the 250 Package. Basically, I could get the second Encore channel that I was interested in (which should've been part of the FREE Starz package)...but it would cost me over $10 more per month to add yet another package to my a... Dish Network is an extremely dishonest company. They adverstise their packages as $24.99/month for 12 months but once you sign a contract they will raise your price immediately. They do this by changing their package names and using small print to indicate they have the right to raise prices at any time. You will have no way of getting back to th $24.99/month price, even if you try to agree to reduced programming or whatever their current $24.99 package is. They are a company that cannot be trusted.

Then they decided to raise our price and not only once did they do it but twice! They are liars and deceivers. READ the FINE print when you sign the contract, because 24.99 is not what you will be paying for that year. They are scandoless and crooks! and alls they will tell you is I'm sorry you feel that way when you tell them how you feel. Dish Network lies, and tries to decieve you. We had Dish for the last 3 months. They promised us not just once but several times that we would DEFINATELY get the Philadelphia Comcast Sports Channel. I ask at least 10 times to each employee I spoke to, ALL of them promised me that YES we would get it. M y husband comes home to check out the new Dish channels...and guess what...no Comcast Sports channel with all the Phillies games. We called to cancel since we were Lied to. They wanted to charge us $800 to cancel our service...even though they admittted they lied. After 3months of fighting, a letter to the Attorney General did the trick, they imediately called us and told us we could cancel at anytime at no charge. So let this be a lesson, Dish Network employees ALL lie. We have been a dishnetwork customer for MANY years. During this time we have had problems with reception. Not only storms, but any change in weather causes loss of audio, pixilation of picture, channels completely blacking out. We have had two major rate hikes in the last 4 months. I called after the first one, as we had not renewed or changed any services in over 3 years. I was told I could get a reduced rate and free Starz for a year. After just 2 months the rate has increased again. I was told that they are just passing along rate hikes to the customer. They did not care that I had been promised a different rate when I signed back up. They would take off the "free" Starz for a $5 reduction in the montly bill. Wonder how they can reduce the cost for a free item. Kind of like reducing the price of a car if they take one of the doors off. The point of all this is that you cannot believe anything they tell you. Any rate they tell you WILL be changing before it should be ... Read more

I received a flyer saying I could get the Top 120 package for $24.99 for 12 months. After six months the price went up by $5.00 a month. I have the flyer stating $24.99 for 12 months. Dish is guilty of what is called Bait and Switch. It is a tatic that gets customers to sign up for a certain service and then it switches once you have signed up. I will absolutely go back to Direct TV. The reception with Dish is also very off and on. We constantly loose the signal and have to unplug the receiver and that does not always work. They are very deceptive in their advertising. DO NOT SWITCH TO DISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfair rate increase practices!!! dish network apparantly had a clause in the contract that said that dish network can increase the price at any point in time. When the sales man sold the service to me, this was never discussed. This is just UNFAIR. I asked for a copy of the contract. and they could not give me one!

Do i have to give them a star. They don't deserve one. LAIRS, LAIRS. They offer you FREE stars for a year to all their customers, but it came for a fee. Its to celebrate 30yrs of service. Well they are sneaking in a rate increase. Thats a good way of thanking all of their customers. It doesn't matter if you have a contract with them or not. They have a section in the contract saying they can change your rate for your programing service at any time. So they had every intention of lying to you from the time you signed the service agreement. They said they would give a credit, if you were to drop stars programing. After the one year you still get the rate increase. So much for FREE.

I give them 5 stars in what dish network does best........... LIE TO CUSTOMERS horrible horrible horrible liars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dish network has been advertising abt the cricket world cup for 129.99 if ordered before the 18th of Feb. Iam on the west coast and decided to get the package at 10.30 pm on the 18th and they then told me that they dont care about me being in the west they will charge 149.99 coz it is the 19th in the east. And one of their own representatives had told me that they do adjustments for customers on diff. coast. ((yeah whatever!!!)) Now how is a customer supposed to know this if not advertised right???? We have made televison our new best friend and tghis is why corporations like dish network take advantage of consumers like myself and sue many more. Bottom line all these corporations are liars!!!!!!!!!!

This price dishonesty, I believe, will be a good action by a consumer protection advocacy group. It will be nice to see a class lawsuit against this company. Don't get me wrong, I am all for a company making a profit, but they have to be honest and upfront with their pricing and I don't understand how they advertise a "locked price" for duration of your contract and then they change it with another "locked price" within your contract period. Like I said, I hope someone will pick up on this and sue them. I would refer this to our local Attorney General office. I think is something they can look into.

I switched to DishNetwork +2 years ago after Directv tried to bill me to upgrade to HD (and this after I was their customer for more than 9 years; quite a business). Anyway, I was attracted by NishNetwork HD package offer and the price, which I was lead to believe it will stay to the same level as when I signed up. Big mistake. It started going up, little by little. After a while I called and they explained me than the low price I started with was a 6 mo promotion. Anyway, eventually the bill went just over $100 (almost double from start). Called again and been told that this is the final price after all promotions expired. Wrong again. Couple months later, another 5% increase. Called back and they gave me the same speach. I see this DishNetwork CEO dude on tv comercial how they care about their customers. A bunch of bs. They dont. They just want to suck one more penny from you if possible. Honest, I don't care much about $5 increase, but I hate being lied to. Just can't stand that. ... Read more
