Purely a state-side option (I think) and it varyies according to whom you ask. . . I have a good rate but it seems that Discover card rates really (really) vary. . .I was going to cancel mine a few years back and they offered me an interest rate I couldn't refuse (but now, of course, credit card rules are different). Cash back is nice. . .customer service varies in quality. . .but the real negative is the sheer amount of times they call your house to irritate you if you don't 'use' your card enough. Very annoying.

This company is playing with customers and trying to get responsible customers on trouble. I have been a customer for a long time. Have not used the card in the last 2-3 years. suddlenly I started to use it this summer for vacation expenses and while I was in Montreal, Canada they decided to lower my credit limit from 6K to 2K without calling or notifying me on the spot! No wonder, my credit card was not working at Canada and i thought that it was because it's a national card/instead of international card.. The point is that I called from canada after innumerous attemps and fails to use it and discover about this decrease in the credit line. They decreased believe itor not up to the exact amount that it was pending to enter to my accound with all the intention I guess, to get me into my new (unannounced) credit limit, therefore leaving me as if I had maxed out my credit limit when I had not!!! This is unacceptable, This can affect my credit score anmd certainly my credit history and ca... Read more

I got a Discover card ten years ago. I have never missed a payment and have a credit score above 700. They recently decided it would be nice to hike my FIXED interest rate on my card! The point of a "fixed" rate is that it can not be touched, can not be lowered or increased, they told me this themselves! Well, they told me I will now have a rate of 15% variable, a nearly 50% increase over the rate I had. The reason? Because of "an increased cost of doing business." In other words, I - someone who pays my bill on time ALL THE TIME - am being punished because a few other card members default due to Discover's IRRESPONSIBLE lending! After ten years, I was forced to close my account (and very likely lowered my credit score) with them because as someone with good credit who pays their bills, I am not going to let a credit card company treat me like that! I was very loyal and they were the last personal credit card I had in my wallet. Don't borrow money from these greedy bastards, they don'... Read more
