Sat Mar 18 2006Ok, so I've read everyone's reviews and seen that the majority of people have had bad experiences here. I actually took some jeans in after reading all the reviews, although I steered myself for rude staff and an extended wait. When I got there, the girl greeted me and gave me a price( $20 for a tiny hole) and an expected wait time of 4 weeks. So I was forewarned, and I agreed. Anyway, I left and got a call 2 days later from them stating my jeans were ready! So, I went in to pick them up and salesgirl #2 was courteous towards me, also. Fortunately, I just happened to get lucky and have a good experience. Not to mention, my jeans look great..you can hardly see the patch-up! Also, they have an excellent display of vintage jeans, cowboy boots, and vintage t-shirts. I say it was worth it.

Sun Jan 29 2006These people have NO IDEA what they are doing with a pair of jeans. This place needs to go out of business. They RUINED my jeans with the worst hemming job I have ever seen.

Sun Dec 11 2005The reviews are dead on. They totally fixed my favorite jeans, but the staff was rude and it took 5 weeks to get my jeans back. I wish there was another place that did as good of a job more timely and without the sour attitude. But...they did an amazing job on jeans that I thought I'd have to lay to rest. For the restoration of my beat up jeans it cost me $50 which is pricey but worth it. I would go someplace else if you just need jeans shortened, but if you're patient and need some major revamping go in there and kill them with kindness.

Wed Sep 21 2005There is some truth to the reviews, the customer service/relations is lousy, and I felt the people acted unprofessionally, and it took them 6 weeks. For the positives: I got my jeans back today -- the work is superb. It took me a little bit to even see what they had done. The material they picked out not only matches the color of the jeans but works well with the wash/fading from use. They used a very strong material and to patch and it looks like it won't tear again. So I caution people if you go there you have to have a lot of patience and be ok with letting them do their thing, but if what you really care about is the quality of the worksmanship this is the place!

Tue Sep 13 2005Denim Doctors butchered my favorite jeans! And contrary to a previous reviewer's comment, they were NOT completely destroyed when I took them in--in fact they were almost brand new. The repair looked so sloppy, that I complained and they did it over again, but the 2nd repair actually looks worse! And this is after enduring the nasty attitude of the employees (a couple of them are ok, but overall they are surly). I'm sure my dry cleaner could have done a much better job, it would've cost much less, and there would've been no attitude involved. I think that those who have been happy with the results are the excpetion, not the rule, and that unless you are a celebrity client, you're seriously taking your chances.

Tue Aug 23 2005I gave them 3 jeans to alter and told the girl specifically which one i wanted done before i my vacation and I tell her that if she cant get the jeans ready by the date I will take it somewhere else. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I called the day the jeans were supposed to be ready which was the same as the day I was supposed to leave for my trip and she says its likely it wont be ready. After i told her my story she finally finds the jeans, then when i pick it up she gives me the wrong pair. THE INCOMPETENT RUDE LADY AT THE FRONT GOT THE WRONG PAIR OF JEANS READY FOR ME and when I told her that these were the wrong pair she argued with me. SHE WAS THE SAME BAFFOON who fitted me. SHE DIDNT EVEN APOLOGIZE for her mistake

Fri Aug 19 2005The clerks' pulled serious rank- both when I visited the store and when I called them to inquire about my jeans which took 8 weeks to complete. They treated me like I was getting their services for free and they were doing me a favor! I felt like saying "I get it, ok. Celebs come here and your store gets good write-ups! But could you fix your attitude after your done with my jeans?" Anyway, although many people may be very happy with their jeans from DD, I was not satisifed with the end result. They were not completed to the measurements that were taken in the store.

Fri Jun 17 2005I was thrilled to have found this store, and to salvage my favorite pair of jeans. Instead I was forced to pay for shoddy work, and received the WORST customer service. My jeans were promised to be rewoven and delivered in 3 weeks. Instead 6 weeks later I finally got them back. They were not rewoven. There was fabric glued inside, a horrible 'sewing' job trying to create a repair on the outside, and it looks like they actually superglued the fabric and then took a marker to it, trying to color in the thread to resemble the original denim. They are unwearable. The work is awful and expensive and a waste of my time and money. Worse, I was treated horribly by the staff in every step of the process. I have no idea how they are still in business, after treating their clientel this way.

Mon Jun 06 2005Although quick turnaround is not their strong point, the repairs at this place are out of this world. My old and much loved jeans have gotten a total makeover. The workmanship here is head and shoulders above the crap my neighborhood tailor has done for me. The staff is young, hip, and very helpful. I also found some bad ass vintage jeans to add to my collection. Definitely worth checking out.

Sun Jun 05 2005I'm not sure what the reviewers complaining about repairs taking a long time are talking about. Their jeans must have been completely destroyed. I brought a pair of jeans in to be hemmed just days before I went on vacation and they rushed them back to me in time for my trip. The hem was perfect - it looked just like the original - and it cost no more than it would have from my tailor down the street. They were so nice! They took the time to get the length perfect when I brought them in and they called me on the phone three times to tell me my pants were ready! They were equally nice when I picked the pants up, and these were all different people.

Wed Jun 01 2005I absolutely love this store.Amazing work and great vintage clothing. What's funny is that I can't believe the comment from one of these feedbacks. Actually you get what you pay for! I have had three of the top tailors in town botch EXPENSIVE jeans with horrible hems.I wouldn't even think of anyone else to do work on MY jeans.I heard about the store when I was vacationing in London so if that tells you anything about their reputation. To those who haven't been there it's a must! Obviously there will be a few unhappy customers out of thousands but to me, I would rather wait for a week or so for great workmanship than a day or two for some 4 dollar job that doesn't compare!By the way there are signs all over stating the turn around time and your approval to the hem length!

Fri May 27 2005I don't know what the fuss is with a few members....I've been shopping there for 5 years now and have watched it grow.I will only take my jeans there because all other tailors just don't do it right.I agree I wish the turn around time was quicker but obviously it says something about their business otherwise people wouldn't wait 4 to 5 weeks for their jeans or a week for a hem. Also my favorite jeans and cords all come from that store.I happen to consider the employees friends after shopping there so long.I take it that the few complaining are like so many in Los Angeles that everything should be done for them right away(typical).Cheers to my favorite store and to the owner who always goes out of his way to find me the perfect pair of jeans. If you want it done right don't go anywhere else!

Tue May 10 2005I moved to Los Angeles two years ago and discovered the store thru friends.I have been a huge fan ever since.Great vibe, great stuff, and amazing work! It feels like the neighborhood shop.Staff is young and helpful. The repairs do take awhile lately but that tiny shop gets so much work, cain't blame 'em and worth it! Thumbs up!

Tue May 10 2005This is the 3rd time I have used Denim Doctors to hem my pants, each time, the girls socialize with one another and when they are done telling their boyfriend woes, they then acknowledge your presence with not so much of an "I'll be right with you" or "sorry for the wait." Not only do you have to wait forever to get your jeans back, but god forbid if they make an error, don't except an apology or any sort of responsibily on their part...in fact, they will ask you to pay an additional $9 "re-do fee" on top of the already $18 you've spent for THEIR MISTAKE! From now on, I think I'll go back to my local dry cleaners and pay $4 for good service and an even better JOB!

Wed Mar 23 2005They can do the hem thing will maintaning the original cut...so your jeans look cool and all...but it is $18! Kind of pricey in my opinion. The work and turnaround were good stuff.

Tue Feb 22 2005The Goods Frequented by musicians, actors and Japanese tourists, this blue-jean repair shop and retail store specializes in used Levi's with a large selection of indigo bootcuts. They'll repair any brand or size, just don't ask how. The jean wizards will only say that the restoration method involves "the use of thread, needles, a space-age mesh fabric and highly skilled technicians." The Scene The store's mellow SoCal vibe nicely complements the "Keep on Truckin'" belt buckles and retro T-shirts. Celebs like Sandra Bullock and Melissa Etheridge come here for custom-designed leather and suede pants with flourishes like copper studding, paneling and lace-up flies.

Thu Feb 17 2005When I dropped my jeans off to have the knee patched, the girl at the counter told me it when take two weeks, which I thought was pretty crazy, but hey, their the experts, right? Five weeks later, when I still hadn't heard from the store, I called to ask if I could just get my pants and my money back. I was treated to an unneeded dose of bad attitude, and the unfortunate news that they would be ready "in a few days". Whatever that means. I'm still waiting. People can build houses in less time than it takes to get a knee-hole patched at Denim Doctors.

Thu Jun 27 2002If you like vintage tee-shirts, jeans and cords this place is a must. They also have a great selection of new Levis in stock. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They also specialize in tailoring your jeans for the perfect fit. I found out about them from a Diesel store staff member after I purchased a pair of jeans that were too long. They were able to shorten the length and keep the same worn hem... how did they do that? The vintage look is hot, and this is the place to go for it.
