Denim Lounge

If my experience means anything, even the most unassuming, tasteful patron will have a horrible experience at denim. A manager there threw my boyfriend out literally 5 minutes after paying cover for wearing a baseball hat, claiming he'd given him [my boyfriend] 'ten warnings' as he threw us out the door. A bartender even agreed that there was something wrong with the manager in the tone he took with us. He was a small man in an ill fitting suit, but I don't want to attribute it to his Napoleon complex. Rather, I hope he was having a bad night. I hope he doesn't randomly eject you too in the middle of a good night! Good luck. :o(

Center city nightclub that is clearly going for a Manhatten look and feel. Very hip and young in there, I kept checking the corners for JZ ...

DENIM!!! All I have to say is that this place is HORRIBLE!! All the way down to the people who attend, the owners, the bouncers....the cops....everyone is a Sc*m bag there. I was assaulted there and left to die on the dance floor. I went to Denim one night with my boyfriend....it was around 1:30 am we were walking out....when all of a sudden...one of the owners walk in with his gf and start pushing everyone out of their way IN THE CROWD UPSTAIRS. The owner pushes me back....for no reason. He thinks just because he owns a place he can treat people like dirt. So he pushes me back and my bf comes to my rescue and they kick him out for no reason. The bouncers threaten him and say we can either do this the easy way or hard way. They take him out and leave me up there....as I am walking out the psycho bimbo ugly gf grabs my neck and pursues to choke me. She caught me off guard. I have been to Denim on several occasions. Some nights are great and others I am falling asleep on my feet. It is a great time or you leave and go elsewhere in an hour. The drinks are on the more expensive side, so I would recommend drinking elsewhere first. The decor is great, and it has recently been remodeled. The last time I went, (late October) was phenomenal

Had a great time last Saturday night!! There's a new hot VIP lounge in the front that looks over the dance floor. The music was great and the bartenders were fast and friendly. Going again next week to get the bottle service for a birthday, can't wait!!!

As soon as you show up to the front door, you know this is different from any other nightclub. Handsome bouncers greet you with a smile and "IDs please". After riding in the denim covered elevator to the main floor, you immediately walk out onto the dance floor, which may be a little small, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for with the energy of the people out there. 4 bars through out the club, all loaded with top-shelf liquors, beer, and "generous" bartenders... who aren't to hard on the eyes, either. If you do have the extra cash to spend they also have the option of table service. 6 different color themed areas of the club have exclusive seating for you and your party to enjoy bottles of liquor or champagne brought to you by gorgeous girls. the club is a beautiful work of art, very well designed; put together. I gave this club a rating of 2 because people in the club are phoney. People whom are in this club think they are high class, just because they are in the club. It makes me laugh. If you are of high net worth, try to avoid this club, due to the phoneys. it will truly ruin your experience of a great place. Bottle girl was pretty hott, just a little padded around the waist, thighs. overall, club is an a+++ for design and style, but a f- for exclusivity.

If you have a few extra dollars to spend I would definitly recommend using the bottle service. Staff will respond to your needs in a quick and friendly manner. VIP sections are located in high traffic areas so you will get the exclusive feel, without being isolated. I could go on and on, but I'll just say that my friends from Manhattan love this place.

worst. club. ever. Let's begin with the bar staff: I went to the middle bar with my credit card in hand and waited 5 minutes for the female bartenders, only to have a guy next to me step up and get served immediately. Once called the female bartender for a drink, I got total attitude. I walked to the end of the bar to the guy bartender and got served immediately, only to have the previous bartender who wouldn't serve me a drink, come and make a comment about me to the guy bartender. I waived my drink away and went to yet another bartender. Music: Techno and remix, neither very consistant. Cover: $10 (before 2?) $20 (after hours) for said service Crowd: packed. pretentious. Do not go if you want to hang out and talk. This is a dancing club.

If you want to hae fun this is not the place to be. First of all VIP services are below poor because they forget VIP reservations and than have to kick out people out f seating area to make room for other people. Secondly the Valet service takes up the whole street and take forever to get the service. The whole Walnut street was backed up because of this one crappy lounge, if you can even call it a lounge. The bouncers have nothing to do but harrass guests. Then, to top it off if you are a minority watch out, you'll gonna be unhappy with the place. They will try to get you out of the place for any stupid reason. If you take up too much room while dancing they'll kick you out. Their drinks are watered down and overpriced. My fiance and I went to Denim last Saturday nite (3/15/08) to dance and grab a few drinks with some of his co-workers after dinner. It turned out to be the worse nite ever. My fiance was walking back from the bathroom in the "VIP" area, when the BOUNCER WORKING AT DENIM began to argue and swing at my fiance (the bouncer apparently thought my fiance was bad-mouthing him, which under no circumstances ever occured!) The bouncer preceded to tackle him down the stairs at the club and then KICK IN HIS FACE, along with the help of FOUR other thugs. This all occured INSIDE OF DENIM. NO ONE HELPED OR INTERVENED WHATSOEVER WHO WORKED AT DENIM-no one tried to help my fiance or call the police! My fiance was left alone bleeding in an alley, while the bouncer and his thugs went BACK INTO THE CLUB. Don't get me wrong Denim is the nicest club in Philly... bottle service is great... DJ spins the best tracks.. However i encountered the WORST bartenders in Philadelphia. I ordered two drinks and one of them was not the right one. I was at many clubs before and something as simple as this could easily be fixed by telling the bartender he made a mistake but the bartender rudely gave me the middle finger saying he knew what he was doing. As any angry customer I slammed my drink on the counter and left. With in seconds I was told to leave from the club because the bouncers told me that I was too intoxicated and was a hazard to the club. What kind of upscale club is this?

I had the pleasure of visiting the denim Club on Feb 9th. I found the women to be wonderful looking and attractive but I also found it hard to hear or see in the dance floor. There were cigarette butts under the seats and under the booths.( they evidently didn't clean before they opened it) I ordered a whiskey sour and it was 6 bucks. I asked for a beer instead and that was 3 bucks. I realize they have to make money but when you just open a club you have to start slow with prices or you won't get customers. The place needed better decor as well. All I saw as a rainbow flag at the elevator. This reminded me of "ladies for the 80's" dances which were brillant . Oh,one more thing,you need to warn the girls that parking is bad in that area, you may wind up spending 20 bucks in a garage. Unless you can walk 4-5 blocks and not get lost then it works out for you. Ok the drinks may be a bit pricey there, but this isn't Houllahans or Tiki Bobs folks. This is a very large building, and it's in Rittenhouse. The place looks like they spared no expense when desiging it and I'm sure their rent is extremely high if they don't own the building. Drinks are going to be a bit expensive.They have bigger bills to pay then the avg night club I'm sure. If you want cheap drinks then go TGI Fridays, or perhaps a corner bar on your Saturday night, as this is not your scene. Notice the difference in ambiance when your there too. I dare you to go to a bar in Rittenhouse, that is open till 3AM, and find cheaper drinks. I've been to Starr restaurants where martinis have been 18$. I've never, personally had a problem with a drink being watered down, but I?m sure it may happen once and a while. People are human. Philadelphians stay away from this place! In fact, most of you that read this that have any intellect already do. I am a transplant to this city and have been to many wonderful places, however Denim is not one. First the service is terrible and drinks are watered down and expensive. I don't mind the expensive but at least make me a worthwhile drink. Secondly, one of the owners of this club obviously has roid issues. The night I was there I saw him bully his way through the crowd, knocking at least three people down who where then KICKED out for no reason. In fact I stood there wishing he would have tried to same thing on our group. He was disgusting. Being versed on law, i would encourage any patron who has dealt with this same issue to contact their attorney. COMPLETELY TRUE STORY. Save your money, go somewhere else. I was at Denim the other night. It was packed and the music was rockin. There is no place in the city where you can see so many attractive people. Even better is the fact that a club can be packed without all of the undesirables that Olde City and Delaware Ave have in their establishments. I thought the DJ was amazing. I found out his name was DJ Excel. Hands down the best DJ in the city right now. The music is hip-hop with some eighties, some mash-ups and some good old rock mixed in. I will definitley be going back soon.

Denim Private Club is as cool as its name! It gives Philly a place to get the Hollywood treatment right here at home. As you go up the elevator and arrive at the Second floor after hour?s club you walk into a great dance floor with a fun loving vibe. Rub elbows with some of Philly?s local celebrities and sports stars. Just the other month I was there celebrating birthdays with Brian Westbrook and Javon Kearse. And then the other week I was in and Mark Wahlberg is right there standing amongst the regular crowd, chillin and talking to everyone and anyone. He was even cool enough to take a picture with a number of the girls in house. Who are mainly gorgeous! The Manager is a great guy. always there to help and make sure you are having a fantastic time. Definitely going back? Probably this weekend!

Denim at one point in time was a really cool place to go. However, today it is where fun goes to die. Whoever said that it was comparable to NYC bridge and tunnel crowd was completely right on. The scene inside looks like someone took all of the NYC bridge and tunnel rejects and shipped them down to Walnut street. Bottle service here is a waste, b/c once you purchase one or more of their bottles, you have committed yourself to this tacky, annoying scene for at least a couple of hours. The coolest thing about this place is that you can still smoke inside.

In years past Denim was a hot spot in an excellent location on Walnut, but when I recently visited I have to say, it was a total let down. The music speakers were crackling and low and the song selection was anything but creative. The crowd was similar to New York's bridge and tunnel scene, gelled head bopping in full effect. I always find it a little annoying when the bouncer keeps my friends and I waiting for 15 mins outside behind the velvet rope and then lets us into a fairly empty space, especially on a Friday night. Denim management ought to hire some quality promoters and DJ, or just sell out to someone with some industry experience, it's at a location you just can't beat.

This club stinks compared to New York clubs. The layout doesn't make sense, you can't sit anywhere, it's overpriced for what?, the crowd is cheezy, and the music was not exceptional. Luckily my group got into the VIP area so it improved slightly, but as I turned around to take a photo, someone "cleaned up" our area which basically meant they took two of our half-full drinks back to the bar. I went immediately to the bar to request new ones and was met with attitude, when it was their fault. Luckily, got two more, after a headache that I didn't even have to deal with in the first place. I only went to this place because I was with a group but never would have picked it myself. It's so "exclusive" and "private" give me a break. If you like guys with button-down shirts, hair gel, and chains, this place is for you.

I can see how some people wouldn't get the Denim concept....It definitely is not for everyone. I have been there numerous times and have never been disappointed. I have seen tons of atheletes and celebrities. Last time I was there I saw Peter Forsberg, Simon Gagne, Donovan McNabb and some other Eagles. Once night I also saw Nicholas Cage and Steven Dorff sitting next to Fat Joe. if you like to be in the "it" scene in Philly, this is the place for you...If you like $1 beers and shots, this isn't the place for you. The decor is nothing like what you would expect in Philly. The drinks are the same price as everywhere in Rittenhouse Square. What fo you expect..Rittenhouse is the ritziest part of Philly.

My friends and I went for a "Happy Hour" after work. There was a $10 cover (for what? I don't know...) The drinks were expensive ($11 martinis) and the atomosphere was dismal in comparison to the other restaurants/bars on Walnut Street. The scene was like Delaware Avenue in the late 80's.

Took my wife there for her birthday. They told us 6:30 was a good time to go. Nobody to greet us downstairs. Upstairs, all the lights were on and there were carpenters repairing charis. No ambiance whatsoever, it was completely dead-no musicetc...this was their idea of a "good time." Wrote NUMEROUS emails and NEVER received a response, or even an apology.

Highly disappointed: I'm not the kind of person who complains much, but this place....man, oh, man. First of all, the people at the front door were clueless. There wasn't a sign anywhere w/ the "lounges" name. $10 to get in is okay for the area. After almost being knocked over by the fast closing elevator door my friends and I enter and we really liked the decor and lighting. The music was good...but that's were it ended. THERE WAS NO WHERE TO SIT!!! Lounge? Get it?? People are supposed to be able to sit! The drinks are way over priced and watered down. The bartender was totally rude. Grey goose and cranberry? Nope...I got a glass of $9 watered down cranberry juice. Lets just say the crowd wasn't my type. (Ladies, there were NO attractive men in there!) We ended up leaving after one drink.

I must say that although I found the place to be crowded and therefore crammed I had a great time. I thought it was interesting how it stretched like a rectangle as opposed to a square room (usual club) I had fun since I did not have to pay for much of anything that I got from there. I had fun since i was with friends, people that were there to have fun! Maybe, what it comes down to is whether or not you had to pay to enjoy yourself. Once you start dishing out money you find yourself complaining about the expensive drinks. I am only 24, grew up in Europe, been at clubs since 16. Love the music and the scene. Fake people are obvious to me. Dont try to act trendy and rich if you are just rich. Stay home!

The best way to sum up the Denim lounge crowd is Philly trash that want to pretend they have money. For a club whose bottles of Jack Daniels are $250, they're hardly discerning when it comes to who can get in the door. This club tries to be trendy and elite, but I was more than disgusted at the people who fumbled across the dance floor. Note: be prepared to lay down $20 for a well drink...(it's robbery). DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Short High-fashion drama is evident as the denim-upholstered elevator takes patrons from the street level to a second-story lounge-restaurant with a metallic fringed bar lit by electric-blue panels. The deeper blues and reds of the private drinking rooms are softened by the dining area's dove-colored suede banquettes. Urbane glamour is furthered by drink lockers, weekly DJs and a fusion menu. The well-heeled crowd adheres to a not-too-demanding dress code: Jeans are allowed.

I find any place where I have to pay a $10 cover and a minimum of $8 a drink and then am forced to use the back stairs because the signature elevator is for reservations only, ridiculous. I can take the elevator down when I am done handing over my hard earned money but not on my way up. Go figure! Way too expensive, this place is not that cool, they need to get over themselves.

I have always had a really good time whenever i have been to Denim. I know numerous people that go there every weekend. The bartenders are very nice and the bouncers are just there doing their job. If they come over and have to deal with you then you have obviously done something wrong. It is expensive but there are other places in the city that are just as pricey (32degrees). The saturday night deejay is GREAT.

You have got to be kidding me. This place was a complete waste of time and money. Called a "Lounge" but you are NOT allowed to sit down at a table unless you buy a $250 bottle of vodka. We stood all night and watch these table that said reserved, but were empty all night. We bought 5 shots of vodka, gave the bartender $60 and got no money back. A cosmo was $14 a piece. $10 to get in. $17 to park. Come on and we can't even sit down. Oh yeah and the DJ was horrible. Doormen need to get serious with their attitude, especially with 5 hot women coming in and 5 hot women who will NEVER return!

What is with people in Philly trashing a place that's only been open a few weeks? I've been to denim several times and have been quite impressed. Last nite, I dined with 8 friends and it was quite exceptional. The staff was extremely professional and curteous. The food was incredible. Denim now features a prix fixe menu that is an outstanding value at $45. Everyone was quite pleased. Scott McLeod even came over to our table to inquire how we enjoyed our dinner. I would highly recommend denim. As for denim's prices and the comparisons to nyc, have any of these people actually been to nyc? A beer in the city often costs $7, so I don't know what everyone is complaining about. Give this place a chance, and go for the food, you will be impressed.

I am from NY and this was NOT a NYC style lounge. The difference being that CROWDS and keeping a certain look in the club are what creates the lines and exclusive-ness---NOT HYPE. Myself and the other ladies in my party were ushered right in while our HUSBANDS were kept outside in the cold---WHEN THERE WAS NO LINE and there was only about 30 people inside. GIVE ME A BREAK! Also, to the other person who referred to Demin as 'eceptional'-obviously, anyone who can't spell the word must not know what that means anyway. I say SKIP IT-it was boring, no dancing, overpriced drinks, ugly crowd despite the handpicking by the bouncers, and loud techno music which sounded like the same song for 2 hours...we had one drink and left! One positive thing---elevator ride and making fun of people who thought they were at some place really exclusive was fun!

I have been to Denim numerous times and each time i am more and more impressed. The food is great, the service is impeccable and the crowd is very unique and attractive. You could not ask for anything more. The prices are very reasonable and exactly the same as any place in Old City, AC or New York.

I visited Denim a few weeks ago with high expectations, left disappointed! We arrived on a Sat night by 9:30 after hearing about the long lines. We scored seats at the bar only to have them pulled out from under us at 10:00 - "to make more room". Friends arrived at 10:10 and waited in the cold until 11:30, deciding to salvage the night elsewhere. It was crowded but not packed. Upon leaving I asked one of the doorman about their line management, making passerbyers think they are missing out on something. His response was that he doesn't make the rules, just follows them. After 10:00 there is a $10 not-worth-it cover charge and drinks START at $10 a pop. The owners are smart to make their money now with all the hype because come summer it will be all over and probably won't make a comeback in the fall.

Not really sure how they call this a "lounge" since there is hardly any seating. Too many people dressed in black with earpieces - get over yourself! Drinks were good and so was decor. But unless you are a single woman looking for a one-nighter or a divorced bald man looking for action, this is not the place to go.

with all the hype around this new spot, we were all excited to check it out but after waiting out in the cold for 15 minutes, even though we had dinner reservations, we started feeling turned off almost immediately. once inside, we again were turned off by the overpriced meal and people dancing and bumping into and around our table as we tried to enjoy our $200 dinner. the crowd was pretty cheesey...definitely NOT upscale and NOT the place to be...p.s. the drinks were also way too much $$$$

Very upscale. Amazing decor, atmosphere. Food is incredible considering it's a lounge. Very interesting "beautiful" crowd. Really had a great time.

It would be hard to find another place in Philly like this one. DENIM has a very chic decor and is perfect if you don't want to dance but want to hear good music and just lounge. Unfortunately you will have to stand like most places unless you order food or get bottle service. The food is actually good considering this is mainly a lounge/bar. Definitely recommend this place if for no other reason than to just check out the decor.
