After wearing gas-permeable contacts for 22 years and having to mess with them at least 20 or more minutes a day, i'm excited. I'm excited of my new found time. Time that I can enjoy. Time I can go swimming and not worry about losing contacts. I only had the surgery 15 hours ago and I'm sure i'll find many other things to be excited about in the future. Dr. Cunningham, Dr. Dell and staff were friendly and respectable. The cost of about $3000 per eye really is not that much when you figure the amount you're saving by not buying contacts, solution and glasses for hopefully the rest of your life. The only glasses you possibly might have to buy are reading glasses in your late forties or fifties.

I'm writing a review because when I was contemplating whether to have this done and who might do it, I read every review I could find. I did a great deal of research on not only the procedure but each doctor/business that provided it. Dr. Dell consistently came up as one of the highest ranked professionals performing the service. He has clearly made it his mission to perform the highest quality service in Austin. My story is like the others. I put my first set of contacts in when I was 18 and pretty much never took them out. I have always hated glasses. I was -4.25 in my right eye with a slowly worsening astigmatism that wasn't corrected with contacts. My left eye was -3.25. I waited for the industry to perfect Lasik for the past 10 years before I realized that I would be too old to appreciate vision correction if I waited too much longer. The worst part of having this done for me was wearing my glasses for three weeks straight before the procedure. I haven't done that s... Read more

I had an older procedure done about 15+ years ago (with another surgeon) called RK that worked good initially but my astigmatism had returned in my left eye. I was having trouble seeing distances which was very limiting to me. I was nervous about going through the surgery because the ASA procedure would involve having surgery over an older surgery. Dr. Dell and his staff were very helpful in giving me my options as well as the confidence to correct this astigmatism. They were also very helpful in securing the financing to pay for the procedure as well. I had the surgery with Dr. Dell in December of 09. It was quick and I have continued to improve daily. The vision is tremendous!! Hopefully it will help my golf game too!! :o) Thanks Dr. Dell and staff!!

I'm the type of guy that gets all freaked out when thinking about eye surgery and never thought that I'd go through with it. But my opinion changed after watching my wife go through the process at Dell Laser Consultants and the attention that they gave her. Lo and behold, one month later I am enjoying perfect vision thanks to the folks at DLC. I strongly recommend that you go see them if you are interested in breaking away from the glasses or contacts.

I was very hesitant to get Lasik for many years and I feel like I did more research than anyone else in the world. After getting a solid idea for myself, I called my brother-in-law (who is an ophthalmologist in Seattle) to ask for advice. He told me it was a very safe procedure and that I was being way too critical. He also told me that it was a no-brainer because Dr. Dell was one of the most famous and well respected Lasik surgeons in the country. I knew he was well respected and a big name in academic publications (try googling his name), but the deal was sealed when I found out that eye doctors go to him for their own surgery. The surgery center is really nice and the staff was awesome. Unfortunately, I did not qualify for the intralase (the type you get better immediately), so I had to have the advanced surface ablation. I was a little freaked out because they said it could take weeks to get perfect. The surgery itself was painless and took like a minute per eye. They s... Read more

Dell Laser Consultants was a great experience and I would recommend the doctors and their staff to everyone in Austin strongly considering Lasik. The BEST part about DLC was the staff. The women working there made me comfortable and really feel like they cared about my well being. (Other Lasik places I visited only felt like they wanted my money- not DLC). During my surgery, I was super nervous. One woman even let me squeeze her hand. Dr. Dell was encouraging and very trust worthy as well as Dr. Cunningham. All in all, great experience, a very comfortable environment, and I felt safe.

I have been wearing glasses for 15 years. I was a bit hesitant about getting LASIK surgery. Well, not only are Dr. Dell and his staff THE BEST, I can't believe that I had waited this long to have the procedure! If you are considering this non-invasive surgery, ON YOUR EYES, go to Dr. Dell---he is fantastic! Oh yeah, did I mention I had the procedure this morning and am sitting here typing this with no contacts or glasses!?!?

My corneas were too think for LASIK so I had PRK (more invasive, longer recovery time). Staff @ DLC were very helpful, took the time to explain all the minor details I hadn't even thought of fretting over before - I was prepared come morning of the surgery except was too nervous to eat before I came. Big Mistake - due to sedatives, its recommended you eat breakfast and they had plenty of munchies on hand! Yay! Also gave me lots of Optive sample drops ($12/box @ pharmacy!) so that was definitely helpful. Brought in the Rx drops day I came in and they explained everything before I went in for surgery. Surgery itself: glad this is a 1 time thing, took all of 10-15 minutes in a cold room with the doc, 2 nurses, and a huge warm stuffed dog sitting on top of me for comfort. Nice touch! Then I was out, home, and sleeping cozily in bed for the next 6 hours. I woke up seeing tons better, and vision has been gradually improving since then.

I can't praise Dr Dell and his team enough. I have worn contacts and glasses for 15 years and decided enough was enough! I was referred to Dell Laser Consultants by my doctor and feel lucky this was her preferred choice. The staff was very kind and answered all my questions no matter how crazy they were. The exams leading up to my custom intralase were very thorough and they reassured me everything has to be 100% correct before they would proceed. The procedure was unbelievably quick and easy. There was NO pain at all. I was in and out of the OR in 15 minutes or less. The following day I had my followup appointment with my doctor and could see 20/15 individually out of each eye and 20/10 with both eyes!!! What a feeling of freedom! Thank you Dr Dell, Dr Cunningham and all the wonderful girls you work with. I could not be happier!

I have been an optometrist for nearly 20 years. I have worked with Dr. Steven Dell, sending him patients for roughly 15 years. Over the years, I have sent him some of my more difficult surgical challenges in addition to several refractive surgery patients. I have discovered a few things that I really like about Dr. Dell and his organization. The most important thing I have discovered is that they will only do refractive surgery when everything is 100% right. I have had a few instances where I referred a pt. for surgery and thought they were a great candidate but upon final testing at the surgery center, one measurement was not quite right and so either surgery was cancelled or postponed. In other words, there was a question about whether or not the patient was a good candidate. Other surgery centers would have done the surgery regardless, I know, but DLC did not. I like that. That is why I trust this center. Furthermore, I keep seeing results like 20/15 in each eye and even witnessed ... Read more

I had Intralase Lasik Eye Surgery last month at Dell Laser Consultants and I've been extremely happy with the results. I was referred to them by Eye Tech in SW Austin. I haven't had any problems since the surgery, just maybe a little dry eye. Which is to be expected. Overall, a great place! The only downside is the cost..it's $6,000 dollars. But it's worth it if you don't want to wear contacts or glasses anymore. I highly recommend them!

I had worn contacts for over 22 years. In the past year and a half, I started experiencing Corneal Ulcers. Each ulcer I experienced, left a scar on my cornea. I knew I had to get out of the contacts but the thought of going back to the glasses was unthinkable. After seeing two other eye surgeons who stated that I was not a candidate for the Intralasik due to the scarring on my cornea, I saw Dr Dell. He immediately assured me that he could do the surgery and told me of another person that was in my situation that he had recently operated on that was doing very well. I had the surgery two days later. It was one of the best decision I could have made. Everyone was supportive at the office and I felt like they had taken a personal interest in me. The surgery was painless and quick. When I awoke the next morning, my world was clear for the first time without the benefit of contacts or glasses. I would recommend Dr Dell to anyone considering this procedure and have already done so... Read more

I have worn glasses since I was in the 7th grade. I was not happy about it then, but I became use to it over the years. About ten years ago I started looking seriously at vision correction surgery, but found that, at the time, I was not a candidate for LASIK because my cornea's were "too thin". I was told I was an excellent candidate for PRK, but I was just not comfortable with it. So I would keep checking to see if technology had advanced enough every so often, but about two years ago I decided to stop considering it and just stick with glasses. That was until recently when I learned about an increasing problem I was having with my right eye that glasses were simply not addressing. I was referred to Dr. Dell. I had visited Dell Laser Consultants back in 2002, they still had me on file, were still friend and thorough, and I was very shocked when they said I qualified for Custom Wavefront Intralase. I figured that I would have to undergo ASA (the newer version of PRK) or have a le... Read more

Dr. Dell did my Lasik surgery in 2000. My results were excellent and I am so happy with the results, even 9 years later. The office is clean and comforable as well.

I had a VERY bad astigmatism and have always wore glasses. Late 2008 I decided to get Lasik and after careful consideration decided to go with Dell Laser. I had the surgery in mid-Jan and haven't been happier! I just had my 3 month check and have perfect vision in both eyes. The staff did everything I asked and were very professional. The pre-op, surgery day, and follow-up visits were all included and have gone perfect so far. My wife is going to get it done next year and we're definitely going to DLC again.

I had a Lasik procedure with Dr. Dell at Dell Laser Consultants. It was an awesome experience. The doctors and staff at the surgery center were very friendly and knowledgable and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. I was so amazed at how quick and painless the procedure was and how well I could see right after it was done. If your considering laser vision correction I would definately recommend seeing the folks at this center before going anywhere else. Thanks Dr. Dell
