Thu Oct 15 2009I've been at DCMA for over 3 years now and I'm extremely happy with the academy and how they interact and treat the kids. I have my 3 children enrolled and they have been for over 3 years as well. We have a lot of very satisfied parents and children that have been attending here for many years. DCMA is NOT run like a jail or a daycare. The children are encourage to do the best they can and when they are lower belts they are sometimes promoted even if they are not 100% sufficient at all of the techniques. We believe that expecting perfection from beginners and not giving them positive reinforcement is not the way to help them learn. Some people are never satisfied regardless of the quality of service. Comparing how one child progresses against other children is not a fair comparison. Some people are slower learners than others and we work with all skill levels. I believe the positive and happy atmosphere here is a fantastic environment for children and adults to learn valuable skill... Read more

Wed Oct 14 2009My family has been going to DCMA for a year now, I'm a pre-school teacher and could not be more pleased with the Academy. Before we attended DCMA we "shopped" around. ( and we went to quite a few places) We couldn't find what we were looking for, if the instructors were good they were WAY too hard on the kids, if we liked the atmosphere was good the Instructor had his students teaching the class and never came out of the office, and some just did not have a good feeling to them. But from the very first day we walked into DCMA it had a very "FAMILY" feeling. Everyone is so nice and willing to help, teach and LEARN. Which we feel are very important values we want our kids to learn. No matter what color belt at DCMA, everyone has something they can contribute to our FAMILY. I STRONGLY recommend that you stop by and take a look, cause no matter the age, skill level, gender, or learning abilities DCMA has strong instructors that can meet the needs you are looking for. Cause when you join DC... Read more

Thu Sep 17 2009My child is a yellow belt or was at DCMA. His cousins, who are white belts from another school, know more than he does. I went to his cousins belt test and it was amazing. The kids were breaking boards and yelling and you can tell they know their stuff. At DCMA, well I pulled my son out. He was promoted and he did not know the strikes by name. There are so many kids and when they are kicking the bags, there is a long wait in line and the kids start to lose interest. I wish I could go to the school that his cousins are in but that is in Austin. We are checking out Elite Martial Arts or maybe Kenpo. Anything that has a better kids program.
