Hottest Party 3 is the second DDR game I own for the Wii; the first one being Hottest Party 2. The game is fun, uses both feet and hands for dance moves, but the hands may be disabled. The game offers several modes of play for single and multiple players including a workout mode that is very effective. Pros Large initial song selection list; larger than version 2 Large selection of original songs with video Easy list interface; much easier than version 2 hierarchies Option to unlock all songs in Hottest Party 2, if you own it Good variety of song genre; note it favors Pop Cons Songs are trimmed versions of the original Video resolution is standard definition, and does not offer an option to "zoom" and fit to screen Video box smaller than the actual game screen; compressed resolution makes videos looked washed out Interface is not point-and-click requiring navigation using the cross-arrow pad on the controller Interface inferior to the polish of the Wii or other games ... The game is great. You can watch the real videoclips from the featured artists while you dance. It has new modes that will let you use it even during parties. The only problem I've found (and others have published on many forums) is that the hands-on feature has some flaws. Now it requires you to move the nunchuk to the left and downwards, and the wiimote upwards and to the right. This new feature is a really cool idea and it would've been awesome if it worked well. Just as DDR 1 had issues picking up your hands-on movement (and later fixed on DDR2), DDR 3 has this new addition that (probably because it's new) has recognition issues and it really destroys all your combos. The good thing is you can choose the other modes and not use the wii controls at all. This lets you enjoy the game perfectly. I just wish they had tested it better before launching the game. I still love it anyways!!

I have bought all of the hottest party games for Wii. This one blows them out of the water. The game is an awesome work out, but I buy it because I like dancing to the music. That being said, what makes this game so good is just that -- the music. This time around you are getting the real songs by the actual artist, not some beat up remake. So you wanna dance to Viva La Vida? It's actually Coldplay and their video. I don't remember the last time I saw Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby video, but it was a great laugh while playing. The bad thing about it is the interface, which looks more like Itunes cover flow than DDR. Things are really small and squished in this version. I guess they were trying to fit more stuff in. Unless cover flow and small squishedness drives you crazy, that's a small design flaw. The graphics are even better this time around. If they keep this up I'd be willing to buy ddr a couple times a year just for new songs and videos.

We just go this last night and spent over a hour playing it. Love the songs, some older some newer. Alot of new ways to play the game. Even with the Wii board. Going to try that tonight.

This is the first DDR title that I've purchased so I can't compare it to previous versions but after one session, I think it is one of the most fun games I've played. I purchased it to use as a fun way to get aerobic exercise and it's great for that. It also has a nice music selection and many different modes to play. I can see playing this a long time and not getting bored. The menus are reasonably intuitive and I never had to refer to the written directions to figure out what was going on. The one not so good part was the dance pad. It kept sticking to my feet. I wouldn't mind purchasing an upgraded pad at some point.

My daughter loves this. The one we bought came with a mat. Although we initially had some trouble getting it to recognize her steps, she liked it so much we also bought "Hottest Party 2" and an extra mat so that another person can use it at the same time and "challenge" her. I tried using it and it's hard to keep up with it. It's heavily choreographed and goes surprisingly fast, so I would recommend it for the younger set or for older, very fit folks.

I actually purchased this after using Hottest Party 2 which I enjoy very much, especially for the exercise value. I really like the music in Hottest Party 1 but man-o-man it has a lot of glitches. I never ever turn off the hand gestures in HP2 because I enjoy them and they are beneficial to keeping my arms firm, but in HP they are so off that I find I always end up turning them off out of frustration. I keep the other gestures on but they are not as good as the HP2. They almost look silly in comparison (as do the dancers) One other thing I don't like in the HP is that you can't turn the Cuts on in free play, while I find the "stutter steps" fun for a while, they really bother my knees and ankles so I like to turn them off sometimes but end up having to be in workout mode to do it on HP which I don't really care for because you don't see a recap of how you did after the song to make improvements. But really I just bought it to have more songs and I am having some fun with it. Looki... Read more
