Thu Oct 08 2009I brought a flat tire to Cybert last week and told the mechanic that I needed to buy a new tire and get it mounted/installed. How easy would it have been for him to agree and sell me a tire?! Instead, he thoroughly checked out my tire, diagnosed the problem as a leak in the seal against the rim, fixed it, and made a whole lot less money off of me than he could have if he were less than honest. Thank you!! Also, this was all done immediately upon my arrival. 0 wait time!

Wed Jul 15 2009I have gone to this place on and off over the years and have had OK repair results (but prices seem high). However, they have always been hard to deal with and John, the owner, seems to get worse every time I go. He does not like it when you ask questions and even if you prove him wrong he will not back down. Last time I was there he said he was going to research a problem for me but did not. Then when I did the research and found a solution for him he got mad and said I was "trying to tell him his business." Finally, when I came back (after they had my car over 24 hours) and I question why something was still not done he got so upset he told me to go sit in the waiting room because he could not "deal" with me. Honestly, they do OK work- but I'm not sure it's worth the drama....

Sat Nov 22 2008My review is a little late. I went here about 6 months ago. The front desk man was very very rude and not helpful. Asking questions just seemed to annoy him and he didn't have any interest in helping me. The work done was average and a bit overpriced. Overall not the best experience.

Fri Oct 17 2008John, Rafael and the rest of the guys at Cybert were amazing. We called in the morning regarding getting our car inspected and were told they would be able to squeeze us in before 1pm. When we got there, we had to wait only about 30 minutes. Luckily we found a spot on the street to park and wait. Once the car was taken in, we were invited to have coffee and sit in the waiting room. That coffee spoke volumes about how they care for their customers. Highly good quality - fresh beans and a very comfortable waiting area. Once done, their was NO tricks or anything. Just $37 and we were done. And they were all extremely friendly, helpful and honest. We have found a place we can TRUST and will be going there for our tires soon. Looking forward to another outstanding experience.

Mon Jun 30 2008I stopped in today because I needed an emissions inspection and I have a bad oxygen sensor that needs to be replaced in my Jeep before inspection. I showed up shortly before 7, since these guys don't take appointments and work on a "first come, first served basis". I had already been to an auto parts store to use the free plug in diagnosis so I knew that this was the problem, but don't have a place to work on the car in the city. I asked how much to change the sensor and do the inspection but was very suprised to have my business turned away because, in John's own words he" wouldn't make any money without doing a full diagnostic and selling me parts." When I asked him how much all of this would cost he told me that he wouldn't help me since I had already figured out what was causing my check engine light to come on. All of this seemed very suspicious, as I have worked on many of my cars in the past and knew that this was not a big job. In my opinion, these guys are looking for pe... Read more

Mon Apr 14 2008Scammed Me into paying $21 for a service they cannot complete I needed a simple flat fix and they told me my tire was no good and I had to buy a $109.00 New Tire. I took the same tire downtown and they fixed it right up. Drove off onto the highway and back home with no problems. These guys are a really major RIPOFF SCAM ARTISTS BEWARE WHEN LOOKING FOR AUTO REPAIR SHOPS!

Mon Apr 14 2008These guys simply lack knowledge on tires and tire repair They only know how to trick you into buying their new tires and they didn't offer to give my old tire back. They kept it for some strange reason. Worst customer service ever. the person at the front desk was extremely rude.

Sat Feb 23 2008To be fair, I had nothing but good service from the two older gentlemen that ran the business for years before retiring and leaving the store to what I assume was the next generation or new owners. I had shopped there without a complaint. Whatever the case, after they left I had bought two new front replacement Michelin tires for my 20 year old Mercedes that I keep in excellent condition. On a long drive away from NYC I noticed a bad shimmy from the front end. When I went to a local tire repair shop the mechanic showed me that one of the new front tires was the wrong size for the car and the other tire was mounted backwards.Tire selection and mounting is not brain surgery. Next.

Thu Jan 31 2008Got a whole set of new tires there. Had to go back 3 times. Once to replace a bad valve. Then there was a leak which they said they fixed, but didn't. Eventually had to get a replacement tire because the balance weight clip they put on wrong damaged the new tire. On the good side they didn't give me a hard time about it, were apologetic and eventually fixed the problem. But I wouldn't go back there.

Thu Jan 17 2008Just pulled into Cybert today looking to have a tire leak checked. Front desk was extremely rude and dismissed my concerns and basically cursed at me, telling me to "get out". I only asked a few simple questions like how they check for leaks and their warranty policy in case the leak returned. There are many options in NYC, and I will not return to this shop.

Fri Nov 16 2007it's not even worth calling these guys. they are so rude on the phone that they don't deserve your business. they have been in business for nearly 100 years and have no idea how to answer a phone and answer simple questions. they will yank you around. I hope they don't make it to the century mark. I really don't.

Sun Jul 15 2007I just read a prior review from (SIRVINIM) i just read a review from the above and need to defend the guys at cybert tire. John at cybert goes out of his way for me always. and if there is a problem that requires aditional time, he address's it right away at no additional charge. Did he call John at 212-265-1177 and explain his problem before writing a negative review. NO he didnt. This guy is not cool! Johns family has been in the business since 1916 serving the community. and I would not hesitate to recommend them. Kristin.

Mon Jan 29 2007My wife and I took our Mini Cooper in for a new tire on a Saturday. As I drove up the West Side Hwy and got up to 50 mph, the car started shimmying and the tire pressure warning light came on. It appeared that the tire wasn't balanced properly. I called back to Cybert Tire and they said to bring the car back in. I couldn't go back in right away due to a previously scheduled engagement. After spending $217 I expected better service from them. Two days later, on Monday, I decided to just take the car to Mini of Manhattan. They said a wheel sensor was displaced which caused the wheel sensor to go off. They also balanced the tire properly and the shimmying stopped. I like to avoid going to the dealer whenever possible and was hoping Cybert Tire would do a good job replacing our tire but they didn't even get that right. I won't be going back there.

Mon Oct 16 2006Just wanted to drop a note. After reading a review of cybert from member joannes, I felt i had to defend the guys at Cybert. They are not a ripoff nor rude. I told john, the owner about the review and he is concerned. He would like the reviewer that has concerns to call him 212-265-1177. I have been working with john and his dad since 1978. They are fair and honest. i will not let anyone else fix my cars and that includes the dealers. westsider

Mon Sep 25 2006After reading many positive reviews I gave them a try. We needed a new muffler and were told it would be $800, they said one part alone would be $400. We got a second opinion, from a guy who was a friend of a friend and who sells auto parts for a living. He said no such part exists for this muffler that would cost $400, even with a standard markup. We went with our friends recommendation instead of Cybert, total cost: $380 parts and labor. Okay so their markup is ridiculous but they were extremely rude to boot! We dropped the car off for a look see. Cybert told us to come back in a half hour. We did, but the car wasn't ready so we ran necessary errands and came back 2 hours later, the guy said he should charge us for parking. He was being rude, not funny. I told him I have a monthly space in the garage around the corner and if I needed to park my car in midtown, I was all set so thanks but not thanks!
