Used to be a good place, went last night, not going back. Employees don't seem to care about service or whether you come back and were rude to the staff in the kitchen (we sat near the kitchen window). Sat ourselves, wiped our table ourselves, would have ordered another beer and dessert, but no one came back to check on us or offered. I thought one staff t-shirt about "Service S_ucks" was a joke at first. It is not. Spare yourself and go to NEW ORLEANS RESTAURANT by the RAVE in VESTAVIA for better food and a better experience.

My friends and I get together for dinner every Wednesday, visiting different restaurants around town. We've been to Crazy Cajuns once before as a group, and I've been there a couple of times on my own. I realize the service s_cks. They advertise the service s_cks. They're proud of the fact that the service s_cks. Tonight, however, I understood the depth of that advertisement. The scenario: We ordered a "bucket" of beer before 7pm in order to get the happy hour price, or however they classify it. We ordered our food, and then our sixth showed up. Shortly after joining us, he ordered his food as well. The beer and most of the food showed up within a reasonable amount of time, no complaints there. It was a little odd, however, that one of the people serving our food was not dressed in the same shirt as the other servers...and was carrying his beer around with him. Our friend who showed up a little late was patient, realizing that he ordered well after the rest of us. Meanwhile, I take t... Read more

We were overcharged. The server split a bucket of beer that we did not ask to be split. This took away the special offer we were taking advantage of before 7pm. When we brought the error to our server's attention, he did nothing more than offer to bring us more drinks and question whether we really arrived when we said we had arrived (we arrived and ordered before 6:45pm). The owner finally came out threatening (then interrupting and eventually yelling) to call the police if we did not pay the amount on the bill. She never even inquired about or listened to our complaint. We were literally called criminals because of THEIR mistake. We will never go back. (Other complaints: one guest never received his food, the server switched side items from one plate to another at our table, the tuna was burned to a crisp and we sent it back, one server brought out a plate while drinking a beer.)

Poor service is holding a beer while taking orders from customers. Poor service is cooking people’s food wrong. Poor service is leaning over customer’s food to switch people’s mismatched side items. Poor service is a long wait for food. Now, all of these things happened while we were at Crazy Cajun’s. But, their shirts say it: our service s_cks. HOWEVER, poor service is not making a mistake on people’s orders and then forcing the customer to pay the difference. This too happened. We assumed it was just an innocent mistake, but when questioned, the owner threatened to call the police if we did not pay what was on the ticket. We tried to explain to her that the waiter had made a mistake, but she refused to listen. It was absolutely unbelievable. It was harassment. I am appalled that these people are in a service industry of any kind.

We were in New Orleans last summer and ate all kinds of good cajun food. In Birmingham this weekend and went over on Saturday night about 7:30. Seated right away, owner and wife and staff very friendly. I had the crawfish etoffe and it was great. I then had small order of crawfish, excellent. Wife had tuna blackened and it was great. Told the owner we would be back on our next visit to Birmingham.

My friends and I had heard of Crazy Cajun and were really excited to eat there. We waited 50 minutes to get our food because our waiter forgot to put our order in. Then when we got the food it was cold!!! When we asked to speak to the manager she refused to speak to us because she was drinking with other customers!!!!!! They offered to discount our meal and when we got the check it was for $85 and they only discounted $6. When we discussed this with the waiter all he would do is turn around and show us the back of his shirt which said "service s_c_s". He proceeded to call my friend a b_t_h!! I will never go to this restaurant again!! It was the worst experience at a restaurant that I have ever had.

Authentic Cajun, cheap, great! I know cajun -- this is the best in town. Everything is made fresh under the owner's watchful eye.

Who cares about space for seating? Americans are generally too lazy and have a far too short attentiion span as it is, so it shoudl not matter if you have to wait 10 minutes to get in and then eat. This is the best Cajun food outside LA. Try the nana puddin. It has Heath Bar sprinkles on top!

Boiled Crawfish are outstanding. Cajun dishes are pretty good. Very casual dining. Blue jeans, beer, and paper towels. Tough to get seated when crawfish are in season.
