Yes, we're officially at 4 country stations and a classic rock station. There's a staticy "party station" that plays, uhm... NEWER classic rock.

I firmly believe that radio is all but dead nearly everywhere. There are alternatives tho'...satellite, CD's, various programmable devices. I guess if you enjoy talk jocks but can't find a good one or afford to pay extra - you could always rent a chatty person to ride along with you.

True story- I got off the airplane in Jacksonville (worst town in America) and my college friend picked me up in his car. . .then said, "Listen carefully." What was the song on the top 'new' rock station in 2000? "You Give Love a Bad Name" By Bon Jovi (isn't she talented?) He considered time in Jax to be cultural prison.

This is a national problem. With the exception of a few programs on Pacifica or college stations, American radio is dead(ly).

I don't know if this is any comfort but radio as a whole is pretty crappy these days.

Oh, wow, so it's not just ME who sees this! There really AREN'T that many great radio stations around here. Back up in Baltimore, I had a handful of radio stations that I really honestly liked, the on air-personalities were more fun and likeable, and I felt like they were really a part of Baltimore. Down here in Gainesville . . . nothing. The DJs s don't really HAVE personalities, and the music variety, while at least aren't always top 40 all the time, generally don't offer much. I find it funny that, when I moved down here, I started hearing commercials on the radio about how "you shouldn't have to pay for radio" (a slam against satellite radio). Well, though I'm not at that point yet, if this is all that local radio has to offer, then I can understand why some people prefer to pay for XM and Sirius!

Radio sucks everywhere now, it's called Clear Channel which has monopolized on crappy radio throughout the land. Try XM satelite radio.
