After reading the mixed reviews I was a bit concerned about going to the Madison Avenue location, but I must say I am really happy I went. Genevieve did a really great job on my waxing as well as made me feel as comfortable as possible while doing such an uncomfortable procedure. From the second I walked through the doors, she greeted me with a warm welcoming smile and did everything possible to make the procedure painless. She used both warm and hard wax which is awesome. Hard wax seems to be much faster and better in certain areas of the body. I was also impressed by how clean everything was. She wore gloves and there was no double dipping. (I have had horror stories with other waxing places in NYC). I liked the fact that they put a special cream on you afterwards and let you clean your own business. It was done in a very professional manner and there was really no wax left over to clean. I finally found the right place, I will definitely be back.

My girl friends have been going to Completely Bare for years and recommended the place to me. Their recommendations paled in comparison to the real thing. I don't even know where to begin. Everything was amazing- from my phone call to make the appointment to the time they wished for me to have a great 4th of july!! The receptionist who picked up the phone was so helpful and she answered every question I had and handled all of my concerns. She made me feel so comfortable with all of the questions that I felt were awkward. I felt like I was talking to a friend. As soon as i opened the door and stepped into the spa i was greeted with such a warm and friendly welcome by every employee that walked by. They offered me water (cold or room temp- how fab!) and magazines. I never got to read the magazine because by the time I grabbed the magazine the technician came out and was ready for me. There was no wait time!! I have a hectic schedule so this meant so much to me. The tech was so funny and... Read more

I have read and heard so much about this place that I thought I would try It for a facial. When I get to the location I could not believe what it looked like. I mean this is a spa that is in every magazine and it looked like this. The decor was beyond bad. The five dollar painting looked like it was found off the street. I should have walked out but I didn't. Once they took me back for treatment I went into what was one of just a few rooms. The room itself did not look like a facial room but some sort of make-shift room. The facial was OK. But It was noisy the entire time. A few days later my face broke out. I called and asked if I could speak with the Esthetician that saw me and maybe she could answer a few questions of the products I bought. No one there would let me speak to her, they just gave me the run around. I then asked if I could return one of the products that was not used and they told me I would only get a service credit. Who sells products that won't return for money or ... Read more

I got my first treatment of laser hair removal for my underarms and the technician burned me. I thought accidents happen so I scheduled a brazilian wax the following week and was not happy at all. I have had at least 6 brazilian waxes and this was the most painful of them all, I think she kept the wax on way too long. She didn't remove all the hair and she didn't even clean the wax off of me. She had the nerve to say "look and tell me if i missed a spot", she was a very nice person but her job is to make sure all the hair is gone especially when I'm paying $78. I go to Buzios and I pay $50 and the woman, I think her name is Anna, is so good. She takes her time and makes sure all the hair is gone and cleans you up good with an antiseptic. The girl at completely bare just squirted some lotion on me and said "put it wherever I waxed". Maybe I just got an inexperienced person but I will never go back there again because the pain lasted for hours, ouch.

The only reason I didn?t give this place 5 stars is because the receptionists and girls working behind the front desk are extremely rude and unprofessional. When I call to make an appointment I am left on hold forever and then they forget what we ALREADY discussed 5 minutes prior to me being left on hold. Secondly, they are EXTREMELY rude when I cancel an appointment. I have been using CB spa for almost 2 years and I don?t think its justifiable giving me an attitude when I call to cancel if I am sick or stuck at work. Lastly, they have, on a few occasions, lied to me about how late I can get my wax. When I asked the girl who waxed me, she told me I was able to come at least 30 mins later and it shouldn't have been an issue. I would like to say, that all the other staff (girls that perform the spa services) are wonderful. I really enjoy talking to them and they ARE extremely PROFESSIONAL. In fact, I think that they shouldn't get bounced around from salon to salon as much because it?s n... Read more

Sure completely bare is nice to look at but beware if you are just a regular customer. People get pushed aside if someone important walks in the door. Clients apointments are just an inconvenience if an editor needs a facial or a wax. These kinds of people take president over anyone who has had a proper apointment. Some woman, I am assuming a manager or the owner walks around like shes a supermodel, constantly surveying the place, strutting up and down the long halway of treatment rooms. (a super model she is not) The rest of the staff is very friendly, they will help you with anything and everything you need. Other than a good natured staff and nice decorum this Spa is not worth the price. Please, go somewhere else, you will get the same treatment with out hurting your wallet.

Needed a bikini wax right before beach vacation. Easy enough to get an appt, friendly staff - including my waxer - but she wasn't that good (left a hickey-like mark on my inner thigh that showed up on the beach for two days - that only happened to me once before in 15 years of being waxed, and that was with someone who was waxing for the first time!!). Furthermore: I had scheduled for a bikini wax, and was told - when I asked if she could get the extra 6 hairs right "next door," that there was an extra charge for "bikini with inner thigh." Again - 15 years of being waxed - and I have been to Russian shops (inexpensive, good waxers) to high end spa/salons to your basic neighborhood Korean nail shop - and this was the first time in my life someone had mentioned an extra charge for those 6 hairs! (I am fair skinner with light brown leg hair - so that's not an underestimation, those 6 hairs.) Normally I would let it go but they would show on the beach so I had it done. Total about $80... Went to the location near Barney's as well and used a gift card to get a facial (the one downtown did not have a single facial appt for 7 days- i checked ANY time during the day b/c I was on vacation and I checked repeatedly and this happened). So I went uptown and I couldn't get the facial designated (with its price) on my gift card so they suggested one that ended up being really nice but cost 40$ less. They didn't refund any of the difference or even let me use it to buy something because I got my gift card from a charity auction- in other words b/c the card was donated for an event they didn't care if I lost some of the value. While I loved the facial itself and the person who gave me the facial was very nice, the uptown location is really small and honestly, I find it a bit offensive that they treat people differently based on where they got their gift cards (the clerk was pretty abrupt with me for even questioning this). My card was actually bid on at a charity event and I find i... Read more

Having recently returned to NYC I was in search of a place to get my waxing done when I inadvertenly stumbled upon the Completely Bare spa in Barneys. The staff was highly accomodating and squeezed me in. I had my brazilian done with Christina who was absolutly wonderful, we talked and laughed through the whole treatment, making it so much easier to bare. I have now returned several times and have recommended many friends whom also love it. I suggest you try it out.

I visited the spa for the permanent hair reduction and could not be more happy with the results. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and addressed all and any of my concerns.

Thousands of dollars later... Permanent hair removal did not work at all. I've had a very mixed experience - sometimes they offer a free follow up appointment and promise it should work this time (it never does) and sometimes they have the gall to charge me hundreds more dollars + tips to have the 'necessary follow on' they claim is disclosed up front. The staff seems to turn over a lot, and for the most part is incredibly rude, even argumentative, with a few nice people every now and then. The machine frequently breaks down, and they charge the touch-ups by time....you get the picture! On the flip side, the downtowm location is a joy - they are honest and nice, and accountable for their services. Not sure why the two are so different, but if you go to CB Spa, head SOUTH! They are very professional and nice here.

This is the best spa in NYC! I went in for permanent hair reduction and was super-impressed with the whole experience. The staff was very nice and the treatment was well worth the cost. When you enter the spa, you leave the craziness of the streets of NYC and into a wonderful relaxing atmosphere.

I had sworn off waxing until I went to Completely Bare!! I had a terrible experience at another salon, but my bestfriend convinced me to go with her to Completely Bare. From the moment I walked in, the staff made feel very comfortable and at ease. My techinician was great and turned waxing into a totally bearable experience. She even introduced me to permanent hair reduction, which I've been doing ever since and absolutely love!! You have to try it!

If you are new to waxing, this is not the place for you. I tried their "relax" wax, which supposedly, according to a news story I heard, numbs the top surface of your skin. Not true! It's simply an attempt at making you think your not feeling the hair being ripped out of your skin. Also, when I made my appt. I told them that it was a first time for me and that I have sensitive skin. During my leg waxing I was repeatedly told that I don't have sensitive skin but that I simply don't have any threshold for pain. Basically, I was treated poorly the entire time I was there, left to clean the extra wax off myself, not given antiseptic and made to feel like experiencing pain is "weird". My advice, go anywhere else!

The Space Doctor's office-meets-day spa. A cozy reception area leads to two clean treatment rooms equipped with the latest technology. Staff is knowledgeable and highly-trained; some are even registered nurses. The waiting room doubles as the checkout, so chances are you'll hear the previous client make her (or, very often, his) next hair removal appointment. The Services The Epilight treatment removes hair from any area of the face or body. The Epifacial eliminates broken capilliaries, redness, sundamage, acne scars and other facial imperfections. Microdermabrasion is a deep exfoliation that corrects fine lines and discolorations. FDA approved Endermologie treatments to reduce cellulite are also available, but only at the Scarsdale location.
