A must-see show when it aired. Unfortunately it went on longer than the War.

Imagine, a war show that didn't show the US as bad guys and starring people like Alan Alda to spew liberal politics...

I loved this show!!! Back in the Dark Ages when playing Army (before we knew it made children violent serial killers)was popular with kids in my neighborhood, I always got to be Sgt. Saunders (I had a toy Thompson Submachine Gun...aka Tommy gun). What a great show!!

One of my favorite shows I watched as a kid...haven't seen it since gradeschool though so it's hard to be objective.

Naaa it was great for the time when it aired. The stories were top notch if you're a military buff and the acting was great. The Germans actually spoke in German, and the guest stars were some of the most notable Hollywood actors of the day. The only gripe about the show was the use of American halftracks and tanks to portray Axis armor. Lameo.

For the most part, this weekly series offered well-written scripts, outstanding production quality and a cast of actors who developed realistic characters. The show's strength was the interaction among the squad and showing the human side of war. Over it's run, it had an amazing list of guest actors including Lee Marvin, Robert Duvall and James Caan to mention only three. Combat! was good then and it still is today. It is dated only by the censor regulations of the day.

Vic Morrow was great but the show was no blast ... more like a bomb!

This was a pretty realistic portrayal of men at war that didn't glorify carnage the way most of the WWII generation and their mutant progeny, who are now ardent supporters of that idiot in the Oval Office, would have liked. Vic Morrow was good as Sgt. Saunders and the rest of the cast was adequate, but the problem here was the show was on the air too long and the scripts got to be very thin in the final two seasons of the series. At least this was a serious and mature take on a genre that had been handled in a cartoonish manner by TV up until then.

A great show..here's a man (Vic Morrow) that you can feel he's really not happy with the job but he does his best because it's his duty and he cares about the men under him. Also the same for the officer above the Lt., he appears to be very hard but actually he's a really caring person who worries about his men.

Well written (especially the Altman teleplays) and well directed. Vic Morrow and a terrific ensemble company. Amazing guest stars: John Cassevettes, Lee Marvin, James Coburn, Charles Bronson-just to name a few. Top notch

This show was on when I was about 10 years old and living in a neighborhood populated mostly by other Baby Boomer kids. It was so popular that all the boys my age would stop whatever they were doing and run into the house to watch. Like the appeal of the Man Show, I didn't get it then, don't get it now. But it was hot while it lasted so I'll at least give it an OK.
