Good fresh and in Thai chow.Coconut Milk is even better than Gator/Power aid for "sports recovery" (ie. electrolyte replacement.) Also nice in "Tropical" Drinks.

Personally, I can't stand the taste of coconut in any kind of quantity. But there is no denying that coconuts have their uses if you need to sound like a galloping horse.

Coconut shavings are great, but you'll have to pretty much slam a coconut against a sidewalk to get it open, and in the process you'll probably lose a lot of the coconut and most of the milk. Plus, it's frustrating to peel the coconut meat off the sides of it...Just save yourself time and effort and buy a bag of coconut shavings.

Costa Rica is a fruit-lover's paradise. There are so many species of plants and fruits that it's unreal. Awesome fruits that you'd can only find there and a few other tropical countries. Have you ever heard of the 'guayaba?' Didn't think so. The 'papaya?' Perhaps. Coconuts grow everywhere, including in people's back or front yards. You don't think you can use an unripe coconut? Grab a machete and cut it at the top. When they're unripe they're full of a sweet watery liquit that's extremely refreshing. Refrigerate it or pour it in a glass with ice. When they're ripe, you have the coconut meat and the milk. I've heard that coconut oil is the healthiest oil on earth. You don't like the taste of the meat? You must be a retard. Great taste that is used in tons of desserts. And what is better than the flavor of pina-colada. Nothing.

Coconut milk is really thick and heavy. I probably like coconut best as a topping.

Cocunut has a very rich, thick and milky sort of flavour. It can feel a bit wodden and you have to slice it up pretty thinly to avoid that. I've eaten fresh coconut 2 times and had a bloody awful time trying to get the damn thing open. I prefer dried (or packaged) coconut to the 'real' thing. Coconut is too rich in flavour for me to eat it just as a fruit so I've reduced to use it in cooking. It always leaves a delightful taste but I don't really see it as a fruit in that form.
