I was so impressed at the level of expertice in the tennis raquet department. I walked in there knowing nothing about tennis - wanting to buy a high-end raquet as a gift for an int/adv player. The guy who worked with me told me everthing I needed to know - explaining terms and reasonings as he went along - also telling me which players on the men's and women's teams used which raquets and strings. I felt no pressure at all to make a purchase and he literally spent about 35 min. with me and my questions. I am still so impressed with how knowledgable the staff was - even after I came home and did some research online. All in all - I have just found my new favorite sports store.

I have such trouble buying sneakers in Manahattan because sports store employees have no idea what they're talking about. And they sell me shoes that hurt my feet and aggrievate my pronating. At City Sports, however, the sales guys knew what they were doing, and even brought out four pairs of shoes that thought might do the trick. So helpful and experienced!

He did not push me to buy the most expensive pair (something they do at Paragon!!), but showed me less expensive options BEFORE the top of the line. The variety of products was overwhelming, so his help was invaluable. I very highly recommend going there, especially if you are not sure what you need and don't like being bullied or intimidated by pushy salespeople.
