Christian Slater

I liked his scripts better in the earlier years, but he's a good actor.

Its irrelevant that his hairline started receding like crazy in his mid twenties because by that stage, through a combination of his own arrogance and stupidity he was already washed up. Shame really because he was an ok actor.

I agree with most of the people on this board- Christain Slater has amazing potential as an actor. He has proven that he can play just about any role: action, romance, drama, western, etc. I first saw him in "Young Guns II" as the cocky Arkansas Dave who rode with Billy the Kid. He was also good in the romance "Untamed Heart". He gave another great performance in the action film, "Broken Arrow". However, in my opinion, Slater was simply too good to stick with supporting roles. Finally, in 2000, he filmed "The Contender" and he was great as the young and naiive U.S. Congressmen who is encircled in a political battle. It gave me hope that Christian would overcme both his poor film choices and his personal issues. As Castlebee said, if Christain Slater wishes to be remembered as an actor, low budget independent films will not do it.

I agree with Teaseress – this guy does have a huge amount of potential yet he’s another one who really makes you wonder what he’s thinking with some of his film choices. Even so, he’s one of those enigmatic personalities that have the ability to draw me in regardless of the subject matter or weakness of story or plot. In a word, Slater’s persona is simply curious. Oh, I realize it’s completely calculated - though I always thought he was doing James Dean rather than Nicholson which makes more sense. Still, he fascinates me. From the hilarious black comedy “Heathers” (Winona Ryder was excellent in this too BTW) to Adam in the poignant love story “Untamed Heart” he has used this magnetic quality to flesh out some very memorable if not pretty far off the wall characters. I feel he could be one of the better-remembered actors of his era if he had a few high budget mainstream hits to his credit. Somehow though I don’t think mainstream is what he’s shooting for.

Christian Slater does have a lot of potential, but he does waste it. he has been in fantastic films such as 'Murder In The First', 'In The Name Of The Rose' and 'Heathers'. But he has done some films that wasted his talent. I agree that it hasn't helped with him trying to be the next Jack Nicholson. He should also quit the booze and drugs and try to build his reputation up to what it should be.

Christian Slater is a great actor. He was great as the journalist in "Interview With The Vampire". He is handsome and a fantastic actor.

A promising career derailed when someone told him that he sounded like Nicholson. Add to that a bad choice of movies and you get a real waste of potential.

He is georgeous! I love him! MMM MMM GOOD! He is soooo sexy. I suppose he can act, too, I don't know. I don't pay attention, I'm too busy daydreaming about him!!

A decent actor, but more or less a second rate Jack Nicholson imitation.

Christian Slater is a great actor. I saw him the play Sideman in New York and he was amazing. He was also very sweet to all the fans that waited to meet him. He seems a like a very genuine person. I can't wait to see "The Contender" and the other projects he is working on. Best of all I am hoping he will do another play!!!

What can I say? I like the man. He is handsome, talented, and has a quirky shyness to him on screen.
