Fri Nov 03 2006A songwriter who's thirty-year plus career illustrates the impact of his songs, which have garnered him success and hit singles across the entire world. And he is still going strong! It is time to recognize what is being internationally acclaimed.

Tue Jul 19 2005Why, as an Irish person, I can say that Chris is a huge and major talent, and that we are lucky to have him. I don't understand those who say that he is a worthless singer and songwriter, and can only surmise that they have not had the pleasure of playing Ferryman, Patty or Red (as we fans call them) at full blast on our transistors, while jiving to the beat. Get on down on your bad self! I myself usually prefer bands like The Sturzies (Kitchen Symphonies is wonderful), but Chris has his place, and time, and he has never knowlingly harmed a carrot.

Sun Jul 17 2005Chris deBurgh has the ability to write songs and music that cover a wide range of tastes with funny, sad, love, battle, peace, inspirational, and historical songs and one of the things that has also made him so popular is the way he interacts with his audience. His music is loved by people of all age groups. He truly is a Star of the Music World - Shine On Chris de Burgh!

Fri Jul 15 2005There is no one more deserving to the song writers hall of fame than CHRIS DE BURGH, he always has every one HIGH ON EMOTION. He has balads that make you cry, laugh and sigh all at the same time!!!!!! It would be a major crime if he was not picked for the title, over the years he has only gotten better.

Fri Jul 15 2005Chris de Burgh is not only an excellent storyteller but he adds so much to his music. He aslo has a wide range of the types of songs he writes, from beautiful romantic ballads, to rock-type songs, to telling stories about history. His songs and lyrics have a way of reaching out and touching whomever listens to them in various different ways - depending on the song. That is what a songwriter is supposed to do!

Thu Jul 14 2005The lyrics of the Chris de Burgh songs are absolutely fascinating, while the music isn't exactly horrible either. HE IS USING HIS AMAZING TALENT FOR POETRY when compiling his albums.

Thu Jul 14 2005I think Chris De Burgh is one of the best songwriters in the world, his music is unique and his story telling lyrics are just fabulous, each song is different, some being great Rock 'n Roll, others, love ballads, some like Crusader and Revolution, that tell the stories of years gone by, there is something for everybody. Thu Jul 14 2005Let me start by saying that I have been a fan of Chris de Burgh for years now, and know, by keeping up with all the group posts, he has a really good way of helping many people through difficult times. He is a wonderful presence on stage and gives his heart to his audience. ( You can't say that about everyone today.) He is also helpful in bringing many people together at his concerts, and happily meets people backstage and signs photos etc. I have and enjoy twelve of his albums and they are all just beautiful. For a man who can't read or write music and to go out and write and perform songs the way he does, and with all of the emotion he can muster, there is nobody more deserving in my opinion than for Chris de Burgh to be entered into the Songwriters Hall of fame. Thank you Judith.

Thu Jul 14 2005Chris de Burgh is an outstanding songwriter! He is incredible in combining the most emotional songs with extraordinary stories. You have to open your heart for his music, as it's going to touch you deep inside. But it certrainly won't, if you don't allow it to. If you close your eyes you can easily see a movie in front of your inner eye. I think he is brilliant in creating a perfect union of sound and lyrics. His voice is incredible and I think it got even more powerful over the years! I have been listening to his music for almost all my life and in my darkest hours I am always getting back to it. Chris has written many songs during the years, love songs, historical stories and also many rock songs, which shows that the spectrum of his work is not only limited to love songs. Yes, Chris is a brilliant songwriter, no doubt about that! From Berlin, Natalie

Thu Jul 14 2005My God! Where are all of these positive reviews for Chris DeBurgh coming from, and in such rapid succession too? I thought Chris had had his day in the sun, after plaguing a generation or more with his watered down pop. Has the long lost fan club of Chris DeBurgh finally stumbled out of a wilderness area somewhere in Ireland, found a computer with an internet connection and started spreading the good news? Like any 30-something Irish person, I have a degree of forced familiarity with Chris DeBurgh. He was always on the radio when I was growing up, and I am sure one of the last things that I heard in Ireland was him braying unhappily about the 'Lady in Red' on the car radio, as I got out of the car at Dublin Airport to fly to Germany. Sadly, he was almost as popular in Germany as Ireland. And so often, well-meaning Germans would discover to their excitement that I was from Ireland, like Chris DeBurgh (although technically speaking, he is not Irish, I believe), and begin to talk to me ab... Thu Jul 14 2005Pretty mediocre talent. I see a fanclub has been busily at work here, and frankly I find it astonishing that this guy has this many fans. He's not a particularly fine hand with a song, and in fact his lyrics tend to the clumsy more often than not. It's not that I hate the guy, its just that he's very very average at best.

Wed Jul 13 2005I'm a Chris de Burgh fan for over 20 years now. I don't know any other artist who is so close to the audience and to his fans. His solo-concerts are the best that I have ever seen. He have a strong and emotional voice, so he don't need a band during his concerts. KURT

Wed Jul 13 2005Chris de Burgh has a very natural voice which can produce the right emotion for every song. You hear that he really feels what he is singing. And if you see him on DVD, Video or better live in his concert, and watch the expression on his face, you are diving into a different world, into the world of his stories. There are slow and very lively and rocky songs, and I admire him to be able to write all these different songs. He is my one and only favourite!! Hannelore (Lore) Müller from Germany

Wed Jul 13 2005Hi, I discovered Chris de Burgh's music about 20 years ago, and his music has been a part of my life since these days. I give him a 5 stars rating because his music means a lot to me. There are so many Chris de Burgh songs which have helped me to carry on in hard times, especially Read my Name. Of course, he has also had some weak songs like every artist has. But the majority of his songs is of outstanding quality. When I listen to his songs I begin to see pictures in front of my inner eye. This makes his music extraordinary for me. Finally, I want to give a short comment to the previous, really *insulting* comment. Is it really necessary to insult people who vote in favour of Chris de Burgh in such a *primitive* way? We are neither dumb nor backward. Just accept that there are people with different preferences!

Wed Jul 13 2005Having followed Chris de Burgh's career almost from the beginning in the mid 1970s I feel that perhaps my opinion should count for something! I would rate Chris as the most talented singer/songwriter ever in the whole of the world! It was very frustrating in the early days for Chris as he just didn't get the recognition that he deserved, especially in the U.K. However, in 1986 his hit single The Lady in Red suddenly almost overnight made him famous. Even today however, many people only associate Chris de Burgh with this one song! The ballad is just one style of song which Chris is well known for. Many of the quieter songs really deal with matters of the heart and certainly stir the emotions of the listener. Chris has also written and performed many, many rock songs which are huge favourites of his fans especially at Concerts. He is also not afraid to deal with 'difficult' subjects, such as religion and war. Chris constantly writes new material and regularly releases new a... Read more

Tue Jul 12 2005Chris de Burgh is the best songwriter I have ever heard. Many times he has touched me to tears with his music and lyrics. He really got a good eye of the life in our world, and know how to descripe it in his music, so we can learn or/and find peace. He isn't afried of writing songs about war, spirituelisme, desire, love, anger, good and evil. His music has so many moods and stories. He is like a prisme, there is always a song from him, which fits with my mood. Beside all the deep songs from him, he really have some funny ones too. He is a timeless rock/pop/ballad singer, with the skill to tell a story from the heart. Best regards Morten Rose - Denmark
