If there is one sports anchor I could go the rest of my life without seeing or hearing again it's Chris Berman. This guy is so full of himself and he's an idiot. His claim to fame is nicknaming baseball players which was cute for about a minute. Now he does those stupid sound effects when doing football highlites. How old is this putz? I'd like to punch him in the face and scream "Woop"!

Say what you want about Berman.  I think he is funny and entertaining.  Least compared to the other ESPN anchors.  Love his knick-names.....Albert "Winnie The Pujols"  lol

This guy is the greatest when it comes to football. Whether or not you care for his jokes theres no denying his superior football intelligence. Bring him back to NFL Primetime NOW!

His rude comments about the sexual proclivities of world-freakin'-class soccer players forever iced this gasbag a-hole in my book.  A 6'6" waste of talent, except when it's coming out of his frontal rectum:  his mouth.  Chris Vermin Berman.

Clearly likes what he does...second only to how much he likes his own voice. Really cares only for football. When ESPN assigns him to cover other sports, the result is an atrocity.

This guy with his lame song references his high pitched WHOOP! has got to go!!! He makes "Ross the Intern" look like Charles Bronson in comparison. He should go back to his old job as a critic rating buffets!

Anybody who would, during the course of rapid fire highlights, provide a player with an impromptu nickname like Mike "If Loving You Is Wrong Then I Don't Wan't To Be" Wright, has got to have an unusual talent.

Seriously, what is wrong with this guy? And why the heck is he called Boomer? I cringe at the thought of him being front and center on MNF now that it is moving to ESPN.

I hate chris berman, he's unlistenable. I would rather get a root canal without anesthesia than listen to him. 3rd grade humor.

Did this guy start this crap? Thanks to Chris Berman, the espn analysts act like buffoons, can I find one analyst to just tell me the freakin' score! You don't have to rap or sing, don't tell me your crappy catch phrases, for example: A qb throws a touchdown, the espn clown says "you complete me." That's not so bad when used once in a while, but this fool says this every time a qb throws a touchdown! Back to Chris Berman, please stop trying to rhyme people's names. Instead of telling me the score, I have to listen to their crappy material!

Do you mean Chris "vermin" Berman? I'm sure His enthusiasim is laudable, but his puns and name jokes insult the players and offend the fans.

Chris BlubBerman makes my skin crawl! He,s got about as much wit as a Jerry Lewis movie. The singing of old rock ditties, the lame nicknames [Boy ! He really reaches!], and the sound effects ['Whoop'-in that falsetto voice] turns my stomach!!!! This oxygen thief must get paid by the word! Tubby is a major headache!

Is too interested in reminding everyone how long he's been at ESPN. Usually does this by obtuse references to rock lyrics, a onetime entertaining trick that has become tiresome. And why do the other ESPN anchors seem to be so in awe of him? Will never be in the league of Vin Scully/Bob Costas/Al Michaels. Chris- you're too loud, too gimmicky, and you need to get over yourself.

Don't like him, have never liked him, probably never will like him. He is one of the primary reasons I have been so turned off to watching sports on TV anymore. He turns sports reporting into a sideshow. Which I know people like instead of a just the fact ma'am type of approach like sportscasting used to be. but that's just how I feel. What he does to baseball especially is very painful. Shut up already.

Has been with ESPN all the way. Ever since I bagan to watch him, I've found him to be funny and insightful. I don't know who else could pull off making up all of those nicknames with bad puns, but I always laugh when he comes up with a new one.

For years I liked this guy, but now I can't stand him. I'm tired of the phrases, sound effects, the nicknames, which some are good but some are awful, and all the Rock N' Roll references. ESPN loves him, and he should just do football, but they bring him out for all these important events. Like the Stanley Cup Finals, he doesn't do hockey all year, yet he's there doing highlights with Barry Melrose. He's OK on Baseball Tonight, but not very good broadcasting. But worst of all, the reason why he deserves 1 star is that he kisses ass as much as anyone. I heard him here on an NYC sports radio station, he was a guest shortly after the steroids scandal, and he said that he honestly believed Barry Bonds about not knowing that he took steroids. I know Berman is a Giants fan and wants to believe that, but come on, he can't seriously believe that.

Although his schtick has gotten a bit tiresome and he seems to get more corpulent with each broadcast, he is my choice as the most important SportsCenter anchor in their history. I loved his Bermanisms (e.g. Jim Two Silhouettes in DeShaies), the Swami, and his trademark catchphrases (back...back...back, He...could...go...alllll...the...way). Chris introduced me to the term Mendoza Line, which greatly influenced 5 years of my life ( www.mendozasheroes.com )

What was once refreshing and sincere has turned into disruptive and superficial. He is more interested in getting himself and his act over than the event. He is very good at moderating and ad-libbing like on NFL Countdown and the NFL draft, but anywhere else, his act has been exposed. How many times can he bring up the tired old shwammmmmm that nobody cares about anymore? He even does this during baseball broadcasts. He should never be allowed near a baseball play-by-play assignment ever again. He was at his worst during the playoffs this year, dominating the microphone and constantly interrupting good observations by Rick Sutcliffe. People living here in Boston were disgusted by him. In the past years, I looked so forward to football season for NFL Prime Time. I tolerated his obvious bias toward the 49ers and the Bills, because his overall presentation was enjoyable. However, his annoying sound effects on fancy moves(woooop!!!!), the tired catch phrases(Marshall,Marshall,... Read more

It's interesting to check out the ratings through the years here. Three years ago, Berman's ratings were generally positive. Since then, they've declined into downright hatred. Doesn't anyone at ESPN see he's overexposed, tired and doesn't have an original thought in his oversized head anymore? He has taken dead horses and beaten them into entirely new levels of death. And he sounds and looks less healthy each year. Give this guy a Stairmaster and a year off, and we can hope he never comes back, back, back, back....

BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK..... gone The best anchor for sports of all time

About 16 years ago, Berman and his NFL pregame crew were the best in the business, and my praise for Berman back then exceeded the adulations on the comments that were posted by others on this forum. On the outside, he looks like he muscles in on other big sporting events that he has no clue of and does a terrible job at commentating. He's not the same Berman of old and seems to be on the decline. The reason I'm commenting now is becasue I saw him do a baseball playoff game with Rick Sutcliffe and Tony Gwynn. Berman seemed very thinned skin and showed his obvious insecurities around knowledgable people of the game. His behavior really surprised me and I feel that he should stick to football, but his act is getting really old. I used to be really entertaind by Berman's wit and am disappointed with his current Bob Costas pompousness.

His act is gotten old; if he were anywhere but ESPN, Bore-man would have been banished to a local gig 4-5 years ago. As much as he deserves credit for helping ESPN reach the heights it has, he is also a big reason why the network is unwatchable. The nickname thing is old and tiring and his lust for the Buffalo Bills is dull and predictable. Change it up, Chris. You used to be good.

Chris Berman is THE personality that put ESPN on the map. He very much personifies the network, which is quite a broad statement, but many anchors that followed Berman at ESPN molded themselves after him. The nicknames he gives to players, especially baseball players, are infamous. The most entertaining broadcaster in the business.

Hands down has got to be the worst television personality on air. There could NOT be anyone more annoying and arrogant than this self-serving windbag. When he comes on, I turn the volume off! Message to Boomer, Swami or whatever other self-appointed nickname you refer to yourself by, You are not bigger or more important than the sports you cover, get some new material and lose that nasty comb over that is covering your ever expanding fat bald head. That thing is as bad and outdated as your shtick and its not like you are actually fooling anybody to make them believe that you have a full head of hair

Why is he allowed to butt his way into doing other gigs besides NFL. He stinks at baseball, and was the worst golf host I've ever seen, during the 1st round of the '03 US Open. Lose the green jacket too, you didn't win the Masters.
