Children's Palace

I used to love going to Children's Palace when I was a kid. The store was so much larger than are Toys R Us and KB Toys. I remember when we would just drive by and be facinated by the design of the castle look. I miss this store, we still talk about it at Christmas time, when the family gets together. Thank you for creating a GREAT!! childhood memory.

I used to love Children's Palace when I was a kid.  They always had great toys, and their stores were well stocked and clean.  The one in Southgate, Michigan became a Best Buy, which is now closed.

THE BEST EVER! I will never forget the welcoming castle building that housed all those amazing toys. My Cabbage Patch, Star Wars, He-Man, GI Joe, Transformers and tons of other goodies. I'll never forget the ecstasy that came from every Palace experience. Once they had a Star Wars swing set that had a Return of the Jedi ewok planet landspeeder as the swing. I rode that thing like a owned it. Then there was the REAL bike section where you could test drive all the cool rides. Even there video game section was badass. I was the king of the third grade when I had the only Mike Tyson's Punchout in all of Canton, Ohio. Once I had the pleasure of attending a rave at an abandoned Children's Palace. I tripped my balls off and continued to go outside just to see the red turrets and towers of the castle. This place will forever be in my heart. PETER PANDA IS A PIMP!

Children's Palace was the best toy store EVER! It had everything, plus you could ride bikes and power wheels in the store. The people were always nice. They had no problem ordering a toy from another store if need be. I am so sorry that I didn't take pics of the store here in Baton Rouge. As I reflect now, I can still walk through the store in my mind. Its should have been called Children's Haven. I still miss that store and I am sorry that it didn't stay in business, because its an experience that I would have loved to share with my own children when I have them. Toys R Us is-was-and will always be TOTAL and utter GARBAGE by comparison. I hate that store. They always stock piled themselves with nothing but baby crap and furniture. I can't believe that they had the nerve to open Babies R Us. Their stores have always been poorly organized.

I used to LOVE going to Childrens Palace. In fact I loved it so much that when the local one went out off business, I bought the PETER PANDA mascot costume. When I was little it was my sister and my favorite toy store. Toys-R-Us was in the same plaza but we didn't like it. Children's Palace always had a way better selection of Cabbage Patch Dolls. We go there at Christmas time to pick out the one we wanted. I miss that store; ours became a Marc's. I wish it was still around. I would have loved to take my children there (when i have children) to pick out their cabbage patch kids. We loved the towers on the building. It was defiantly the best toy store ever!!!

The Childrens Palace was quite possibly the worst childrens toy store ever created. It had absolutely nothing, and it's theme was ridiculous. I believe that Toys R Us is 100x better than the Childrens Palace and I'm happy that it took its place here in town. Theres a reason why the Childrens Palace vanished, and thats because it was horrible. I remember going to the Childrens Palace about 15 years ago here in Champaign, Illinois and found that the toys (or lack thereof) were insanely overpriced! Anyway, to make a long story short... I'm quite happy it's gone, and I'm happy Toys R Us is there in it's place.

Wow!!! Haven't heard that name in years. This was the ultimate in children's toys. I attended the grand opening of the Children's Palace in Peoria, IL. Moved away when I was 15, and many years I heard it was closed. I have four teenage kids who would have...and still would love the greatest toy store ever. It was the best for finding games for the Commodore VIC20 and Commodore 64 computers. They were the only place in town that carried the portable Commodore SX64...big and bulky with a built in screen. I loved visiting the store just to stare at it...hoping to get one. That was about 20 years ago...ahhh, the memories.

The one that I used to go to in Dayton was turned into a auto parts store after it closed down. Definitley my favorite toy store as a child. Toy's R US was the giant down the street that I wanted no part of. Oh well.

I remember going to the old Children's Palace in Cincinnati, Ohio (Northgate location.) It was almost a monthly thing where my mom would take me to Showbiz Pizza then to Children's Palace to get a new Transformer in the 80's as a kid. In the late 80's early 90's this place had a huge selection of video games too. I can remember many times I walked out of there with a new NES game much cheaper than Toys R Us were selling them for. I know the Northgate location closed down in the early 90's ('92 I think) but I wish they were still around today because it really was one of the better toy stores back in the day. I don't know what's become of the old store now because I haven't been cross that side of the bridge/overpass for years now.

Children's Palace is a staple in my childhood. I was hoping someone else out there remembers the promo video Children's Palace sent in the mail. I was talking about it with someone the other day and we were wondering if anyone out there still has a copy of that? or knows how to locate one? Help me find my childhood!

Children's Palace brings back great memories. We used to go to the one in Monroeville, PA (near Pittsburgh) for Christmas shopping. They always had a great selection of GI Joe's and Revel model airplanes, my favorite things.

Ahhhh! Children's Palace! The Toy store Toys R' Us WISHES it could be! Let's see... A real bike shop with people who knew bikes (WoW), Wheeled-goods and juvenile clothing, furniture, accessories, bedding, department managers who knew their stuff, friendly employess, outdoor displays (swingsets, pools, sand boxes, bikes) model demonstrations airplanes/kites/rockets. Crucial Turning Point in Company History: When Child World agreed to turn the backwards 'R'in their store signs around to avoid legal confrontation with Toys R' Us who had threatened because they also had a bsckwards 'R' in their logo (although it was used in a different context). Shame on Toys R' Us!

There will never be another store like Children's Palace. My son used to light up when we walked in there. I started my shopping for him before he was even born. Toys R Us will never be the quality family store that Children's Palace was. We found fun, innovative toys & familiar characters, such as Fraggles & other Muppet characters at affordable prices. Now, all that we find is commercialized merchandise. Really wish the company would try again.

Children's Palace had an excellent toy selection. i used to buy action figures there all the time before they closed down. I liked the one in Colerain Township in Cincinnati because It looked like a palace.
