Thu Jul 31 2008The later versions of the Chevrolet Camaro (from 1970 1/2 to 2002) were subpar, but the Camaros from 1967 to 1969 were arguably the most beautiful muscle cars ever to roll off the Detroit assembly lines. These Camaros defined muscle and styling during this bygone era, and the Camaro SS itself was many teenagers' dream car. Driving one of these beauties to the line was to literally throw down the gauntlet against the car right next to it. And as far as the greatest Camaro year, 1969? This was the year the great dealer-custom Camaros (with the COPO package) came out. Ever heard of Nickey, Dana or Berger? How about the Baldwin Motion? But surely, every Camaro aficionado's jaw would drop at the sight of a Yenko 427 rumbling past them. Even the small block 327s, 307s and 302s are highly sought today. In short, the models of this great era of the Camaros (and all muscle cars for that matter)- especially the famed Chevrolet SS's- were never again to be duplicated (nor can it ever be, even wit... Thu Apr 27 2006I own a 2001 Camaro Z28. Many people dislike the car, but I love it. I previously had a '93 Camaro with 170k miles on it. It was an extremely reliable car. I traded that car in, but I'm sure it will stay running as long as it's taken care of. I'm 19 years old, and love the fact that I can afford this much horsepower. I have a bunch of fun driving it. I enjoy that I can outmuscle most cars on the road if needed or when late :). The handling is not the greatest I suppose, but for an ordinary driver who just commutes to school/work it's not a problem. The car does have a long nose. However, a competent driver won't have any issues. There is a blindspot that is fairly large, but if you're paying attention like you should be it won't be a problem. The ride feels fairly smooth, and quite smooth at high speeds, but it's no luxury comfort car. It isn't meant to be. Overall, it's a fast, fun car to drive. The speed/dollar ratio is quite nice. And it does get looks.

Sat Dec 31 2005Definly the 4th generation maros are better than the 4th generation mustang, 5.7 compared to a 4.6 enough said. Old maros are alright but nothing like a 70 gs 455 stage 1 or a 69-71 442 or late 60 early 70 gto Oh yeah, F**K GM for discontinuing the Maros and Fbirds, new gto ok but ugly, plain, Austrailian styling.

Mon Jul 26 2004My fav car. Who say's it doesn't last?? I have an 84 camaro with over 200,000 miles and it still runs just fine, starts on the first turn every time. It may not be as fast as some of these new cars, but hey, it's the eighties. Best bang for the buck. I saw a 99 SS for $12,000, that's 320 hp, if you take care of it, it will last! drop a 2- 3000 dollar supercharger in it, you'll smoke a Viper, I've seen it. Camaros rule. and by the way, not everybody that drives them is white trash.

Sat Mar 22 2003After 4th gear broke and dealership told me to take hike on warranty, I sold it for a new Beetle. The long low hood made it hard to park and driving in fowl weather left me cold. I wanted a fun car not cop bait car. Every car want to race me, even other classic Camaros. You can't drive normal in a BOY RACER!..... NOW WELCOME TO THE WORLD DISCONTINUE OF COVAIRS!.....VEGAS!.....NOVAS.....CHEVETTES.....EL CAMINOS!..... CAMERO RS's/SS's/Z28's/IROC's/LT's/BERINETTE

Wed Feb 05 2003WELL FIRST OF ALL PRACTICALLY MOST OF THE CAMARO DRIVERS ARE IGNORANT. I DONT HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST CAMARO, BUT HONESTLY THE CAMARO IS UGLY THE ONLY ONE I WOULD BUY IS A 67 SS CAMARO OR THE 69. WELL I DRIVE A MUSTANG AND I DONT NEED TO SPEND 24,000 DOLLARS TO GET A 13 SECOND AT THE 1/4 MILE I SPENT 3,000 ON MY 89 GT MUSTANG AND I ASSURE YOU THAT WITH 21,000 I LEFT I'LL SMOKE A CAMARO. AND ABOUT BEATING AN IROC-Z WELL SORRY TO BREAK YAH HEARTS BUT IHAVE, AND THE Z-28 TOO. WELL I AM NOT HATING ON THE CAMARO FOLLOWERS, BUT ITS KIND OF DUMB HOW THERE ARE SO MANY IGNORANT PEOPLE CUZ ITS NOT ALWAYS A CAMARO DRIVER LOOKING AT HIS REAR VIEW MIRROR ITS MOSTLY A MUSTANG DRIVER LOOKING AT HIS REAR VIEW MIRROR. ;)

Sat Nov 30 2002The problem is apparently some people buy a Camaro with hopes of a car with a smooth ride with precision building. You cannot, you have to take it for what it is. The purpose of a Camaro is the V8 grunt you get from under the hood and at the end of the exhaust pipes. There is no better feeling than knowing your car can smoke 90% of the cars on the road (i love to go Mustang hunting in my built up '86 IROC), and being able to light up the tires at any moment. That is why you buy a Camaro, and if you're looking for a smooth ride, go look elsewhere, but don't complain about it after you buy one.

Wed Jul 11 2001i love some of the retards that rated this car...all they basically said was "i dont like it" and thats it...if the car "sucks", y the hell cant u people give good reasons why? the camaro's one of the 1st muscle cars ever, and it's lasted over 30 years, a kick-ass car 4 the money too...yes, other cars can beat the crap outta it, but how much do they cost. i'll bet anyone that for the price of any car that can beat the camaro, i could buy a new ss, hook it up, and piss all over your fancy sports cars!

Tue May 08 2001Your typical overrated, overhyped boy racer ponycar. Piece of junk. The wide, uneven gaps between the unattractive body panels look like they were put together by a first grader. The interior is even worse with cheap plastics that look like they came from Fisher Price. I'll be taking my Toyota Supra Turbo in red please.

Mon Mar 05 2001Bwahahahahhahaaaaa Lets build a huge engine that anybody can build in their garage and put it together with bubble gum,...... This car is disgusting,....!!

Wed Jan 10 2001Today you can walk into a Chevy dealership with $24,000 and walk out with a 13 second car thats comfortable, gorgeous, and extremely reliable. Enough said.

Wed Jan 10 2001Once again I'm stunned by the stupidity of this sites members...for $24,000 you can buy a Z28 and run 13sec 1/4s all day long. 0-60 in 5.4seconds. Well built and reliable. Sounds like a superb car, doesn't it? Well, it is!

Thu Jan 04 2001I sold my 1995 Mustang V6 Automatic (hardtop) to get my current 1997 Camaro Z28 Automatic (with t-tops). Obviously, the Camaro is a lot faster. The automatic in the Mustang always seemed to be in the wrong gear and the transmission shifted very very slowly. The auto in the Camaro has very firm shifts and the overdrive gear does not get anoying like it did in the Mustang. Handling wise, I loved how the Mustang corner carved. The Camaro has a much bulkier feel around the corners and is not as much fun to drive. The Camaro interior has a much more cockpit like feel and is much more roomy. I am very tall so the Mustang did not give me any room to move. It quality of the interior is the same. Exterior styling is vastly different. The Mustang has more of the appearance of a normal "sporty car" whereas the Camaro is very flat, with a mean look to it. The Mustang was okay for a v6 car, but I needed more. The Z28, with 285hp is blast go fast in. The tires are very easy to break fre... Read more

Thu Dec 28 2000Too many on road Too expensive for what it is Terrible space inside Somewhat good speed Acceptable body style but the There being too many on the road in FL really ruins a car... Shows that they are just another "honda" (and hondas suck)

Sat Dec 09 2000My personal favorite. Own a '68 SS and would cut off my right arm rather than sell. Mustangs may have a lot of followers but I'd rather be exclusive than popular. Wish I could submit a pic

Mon Nov 06 2000A very nice car. From 1993 and up they are well built, handle superbly, and are very fast. I owned a 1989 Iroc-Z with a 305 V8. It was quick, handled well, and looked good, but wasn't as nice as the Ford Mustangs I currently own. Camaros are great sports cars, but the Mustang is a better overall drive; more comfortable and better equipped.

Fri Jun 16 2000Comments based on 1999 Camaro SS convertible. I enjoy this car more than any the Corvettes, Supras, or Mustangs I've had. The engine control is superb. You can floor the accelerator in 6th gear at 700 RPM and the car accelerates smoothly (though slowly 8-). Yet their are no flat spots all the way to redline. The available traction control actually makes it drivable in poor weather, though if I know it's going to snow, I'd rather drive a truck. The wind protection is phenomenal. You can hold a conversation without shouting at 90 (uh... wait... I mean 70) without shouting (at least if you turn down the stereo). It all boils down to 0-60 in < 6 sec and 25 mpg.

Thu May 18 2000Faster and better looking than the Ford Mustang. Also, with slower sales you can walk out with a GREAT deal.

Thu May 11 2000Great Car. I own a 94 Police Package Z28. It is very, very, fast and I've never had any problems with it...yet! One drive in it and you'll understand why the state troopers use it.

Fri Mar 10 2000No matter how long you debate Mustang vs Camaro, it will always be known; a car must win the IROC (Internation Race Of Champions) in order to call their vehicle the IROC edition! And in '69 with the 396, and today with the SS, Mustangs near and far bow their heads when the true Chevy thunder Stomps them down. When I look in my rear view mirror and see a Mustang, I know there will never be a day when Ford can beat Chevy.

Fri Jan 07 2000The '68 model is badass, but the new ones look and feel CHEESY.
