They'd annoy the hell out of me if I was forced to go into them, but since I'm not, and can't be bothered to waste my time "talking" to spelling challenged infantile intellects, they don't bother me in the least.

WHEN PEOPLE OPEN A CONVERSATION WITH 'A/S/L'...I REPLY WITH: 'IQ?' So sick of the a/s/l...I really am. Anyone can lie about age etc. You can't hide your IQ for very long. Am I right?

I went into a chat room once with over 50 people in the room. I didn't say a wrod, just looking. No one can spell or use grammar; They lie about their name and age to get young people to chat with them; They're rude to people; and even though I didn't chat, 9 people IM'd me on my screen name telling me that they saw me in the chat and wanting to "cyber". I think it's just really dumb and dangerous in some instances to talk with those people.

I used to think these were pretty fun, then the novelty wore off. They are full of sex seeking saddo's. Cyber sex? Oh please. I have since undergone an ASL phobia!!! ARGH!!! This chatroom is now closed!

I'm surprised that so many people who commented spoke ill of chat rooms! Chat rooms are so diverse along with the people that attend them... Of course if you go into a chat room with the topic of What's Up? you'll get a bunch of idiots raving on about sex related topics and insulting each other or looking for dates. I really can't imagine what chat rooms you've been going to, because the ones I go to have well spoken, friendly people (with the occasional lunatic of course... that's what the ignore button is for) who discuss interesting topics intelligently. Some chat rooms even have a trivia contest with a bot asking questions (tough ones on history, geography, politics, current events and miscellaneous categories) and if you get one right, you gain points. It's fun to do that while having a conversation with the participants. Anyway, if you dont like them I don't see why they should annoy you... Chat rooms don't obligate you to join... So what exactly is annoying about them if you avo... Read more

Chat rooms are fun to go to, except for the people who choose to abuse it: flammers, perverts, scrollers, ad bots, insulters, racists, spammers.... the list goes on and on.

I'm only rating this as great as this is how I met my partner (I kid you not) we met on a chatsite, got talking on there a lot, then started talking on the phone and eventually met and we totally fell for eachother. We have now been together for 4 years :)

Most chat rooms I have been in are full of foul-mouthed, dirty-minded teenagers (and adults!). No matter how I try, most of them don't stop cursing, even when its against the rules of the chat room. Now, there are a few very nice people that go in chat rooms, but most seem to have a one-track mind in the wrong direction and have manners that are about as good as a cockroach.

Chat rooms are awesome and very under rated in society. It seems like everyone sees chat rooms as nothing but trash, and whoever chats on them talks about nothing but sex. I have found this too be totally incorrect. Its cool to talk to people from all over the world and see how they think of views. Sure, there are sicko's out there, but taht does not mean that all of them are.

I won't even have anything to do with them. I think they're bad news!

Used to be mildly entertaining, but after a few months, it gets old. Only in the world of chat rooms have a 95% population of people who are lesbian females (99% of whom are really just perverted and ugly guys who have too much time in their hands, amongst other things. Trust me, I know a guy like that). It seems EVERYONE in a chat room is supposedly under the age of 25, have pictures of themselves which happen to look like a centerfold of a recent magazine, and are surprisingly single. At least that's how things were the last time I was in one (several years ago), and I don't miss it much.

I enjoy going into chatrooms every now and then, but usually restrict myself to those dealing with politics and history. I've never seen the point in developing online relationships with people you will more than likely never meet. A lot of the rooms online today are perverted as well.
