Big fan of Castrol. I use it in my 69 vette. Hands down the best motor oil. Superior quality.

I have a Chevy Prizm and its engine rattles when the oil level is low. I have found that one quart more than recommended makes the engine silent and the gas mileage becomes better as well. I have to add on one quart every month or every other month. When the rattling begins I add the one quart of oil. I use ordinary cooking oil, canola oil. The best motor oils are made from vegetable oil anyway. And instead of the standard air filter I use a cut out of washable in-house washable, reusable air conditioning filter material. The better air flow increases engine power and gas mileage. Plus, I never have to replace it. Crickets and such are kept out of the engine. I must have saved hundreds of dollars by now.

If you are running Mobil One Synthetic after purchasing a new vehicle, do not change to Castro Edge. If so, I will almost bet, your engine will seize up (within 1000 miles). Being among the few who had this happen, Castro Edge is not ‘a true” synthetic oil. In correcting this issue, I sent a response (complaint for readdress) to the Castro corporate center, no word or response knowing it is pretty much a problem. Sad part, I have to now seek a legal suit to have the motor replace and hopefully, have a warning placed on their bottles to aid the consumer. It is true; the number one leader in synthetic oils is either Amsoil or Royal Purple.

Castrol is good oil, i don't care if BP makes it, for 3,000-4,000 mile oil change it works just fine.

I am driving a 1982 Dodge D150, 318 cid, with just a little over 307000 miles on it. I have used various brands of oil over the years and I now use Castrol GTX exclusively. I have always used the conventional motor oil but I am considering going to the Castrol High Mileage oil since I have finally got my truck through the "Break in" phase. I am still utilizing the original engine with no heavy duty repairs having been done. I have all of my vehicles on a 4,000 mile service interval and have not had any engine problems with any of them. I use less than a half a quart of oil in the 1982 Dodge between oil changes and I think most of that is from the world famous Dodge gasket leaks. Even the minor oil leakes have slowed quite a lot since I started using the Castrol GTX regularly. Actually after 28 years it is probably time to replace the valve cover gaskets anyway. The Castrol GTX stays a lot cleaner than other oils that I have tried in the past. Valvoline is another good oil that I h... Read more

My car Mazda6 2003 sedan uses Castrol oil 30 weight heavy duty.. Had oil change at Lube express, was told oil was oil..Made from Havoline and was all the same. My son-in -law works for Noble oil..told me the oil rigs motor uses Castrol because it doesn't break down like other brand oil..I had wonder if this Man at the Lube express told me the truth? My manual said use Castrol oil . Lube express said, Mazda industry has a percentage and agreement with Castrol product to use Castrol brand in my Mazda car only.....He told me was not so..that oil was all the same! He told me Havoline makes Castrol and its all the same oil brand. I need to know if this was the right thing to do.. [email protected]

I am a fan of the GTX High Mileage 5W-30 formulation. It seems to keep my car running beautifully with little noise. I like the idea of very high detergent levels to help keep an older engine (100k) clean. My engine doesn't leak, so I could not comment on the efficacy of the seal conditioners, but I burn almost no oil BTW changes. Maybe it's all in my head, but when I switched to Castrol High Mileage, it seemed the can just generally ran better and had better performance. I would definitely recommend this oil. Standard GTX is very good also. I have never tried any of their synthetics, so I don't know how well they work.

Ran in one of my first cars- recomended by a mechanic- wrong decission to change - no motor problems but gummed my entire engine up with sludge- under valve cover was just nasty, could never get all the burnt on oil caking off, so what dose the rest of the motor look like that we can't see- I really don't want to see......

I bought a 1994 Chevy Silverado C-1500 with the 5.7L V8.Next day I changed the oil to Castrol Edge 10W-30.All I got to say is OMG! The Tach went from 900 idle to 250 And after two months still doing this!.Oil pressure lower at idle than conventional oil.water temp went from 195 to 145 in heat of day!,runs real smooth and no startup issues.cruise all day idle all day,no problemo. Ill never use anything else. No formal testing I just looked at the gauges before and after you chhange the oil.You got to see to believe If you not using Castro;Edge you need to whip yourself with that dipstick and save that Irishmam the trouble. This oil is off the chain!!

I used Mobil 1,recently switched to Castrol Edge on my 1997 HONDA CIVIC DX. Feels like I put in a brand new engine. So smooth, quiter and best gas milage ever. The almost ran few hundred miles but still it's look the same like first day BRAND NEW OIL. BTW when I was using Mobil 1, my oil pan gasket started leaking and had to change it. USE CASTROL EDGE or DO NOT USE ANY OTHER CRAPPY OIL If you want to keep your vechile and want to drive it for a long time !! Just try once you will notice what I am talking about Salute to Castrol EDGE, best oil ever made !! That's it

GTX High Mileage oil is good for making older engines run nice and smooth, however their "superior oil burn off protection" is subpar IMHO. vehicle (91 honda civic) burns more with this oil than it did with Valvoline oil of same viscosity. Still good oil though.

I might be biased since I help promote for Castrol, but unlike regular synthetic oils like Mobil 1 and Castrol SYNTEC, Castrol EDGE offers extended drain interval protection, provides unsurpassed wear protection*, and meets the world’s toughest industry-agreed standards. Because of this combination of benefits we put it in a higher class of oil called “advanced” synthetics. *5W-30s tested in industry standard sequence IVA wear test

Castrol is the best oil, but it is also the most expensive. I like it, but not enough to pay its price. I use Havoline when I change oil.

Used Castrol GTX 10W-30 in our car and lawnmower before and seems to be just fine but I havent't used it enough to have made up my mind to keep on using in my car regularly. 1 thing I did find odd tho is I had a 4.4L jug of GTX 10w-30 the oil appeared to be blue which is i assume their way of doing it then after I had the jug sit a while before I needed oil for the lawnmowers it was the regular colour brown/golden like most all oils. I dunno if maybe it was the light that day outside or what but I'm pretty sure thats what I saw. But in any case it seems to be good. And it is true they do put an awful lot of money into Ads and making fancy looking jugs...so I wonder. Best way to know is try it yourself or check out the data sheet specs. But I personally have now switched to Valvoline for a while. [Biggest thing is O&F-5kmOr3m;]

Castrol's 'Syntec' synthetic oil is excellent. I drive a VW and the manual advises 10K oil change intervals with synthetic oil. I've done that many times with the Castrol Syntec, and my car has not had any issues with the motor.

This oil is crap. They put more money into advertising than into making their product. Mobile 1 is the best oil around and is made by esso. I have ran mobile in my car. It now has 700,000 on it and is still running

All of their oils are absolutlely great. The GTX which I have used, just the plain cinventional,is this best that i have ever used for conventionals and the syntec has given me the best dyno results for my trans am ever, anything that Castrol makes is probably the best and most practacle.

I have heard from refinery engineer that most all the brands use the same feedstock and then blend their own additives and most of the differences are miniscule at best!!! the synthetics are only manufactured by ONE company refinery [Mobile] then additives blended.
