Mon Jul 11 2011Just when we thought it wouldn't get anymore absurd, you hear a reaction come out of Washington like this: http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2011/07/11/McConnell -Anthony-verdict-a-warning/UPI-53271310371200/ The real lesson that should be taken from this is the fact that the whole "blood and circuses" atmosphere which seems to surround high-profile cases points less to any type of real justice and towards an atmosphere of entertainment where facts become far less important than appearances. McConnell's comments point to a more troubling strain of thought that has been particularly ubiquitous in some circles especially since after the Anthony case. These people are calling into question the validity of the jury system itself, which has been the backbone of Western legal thought for almost a thousand years. This because some verdicts don't go the right way every once and a while. When a culture seeks to throw out entire institutions in response to superficial conditions, you have ... Read more

Fri Jul 08 2011I think what is harder to take in, is that if this was a slam dunk case as the Police thought! How come the prosecution did not gather the evidence and make a proper case! I am sickened by people getting away with child crimes; then those children getting bent over by a system that would rather spend money prosecuting a sports player for prudery. (Let’s be fair what Politian has not lied under oath!) Than get a women put in jail for a horrid crime! I’m disgusted that we are watching a murderer walk free, from a crime she so clearly committed! The prosecution in my opinion is as bad as the murderer! It's plain and simple the prosecution just did not do their job!

Thu Jul 07 2011I did not follow the trial at all and never watched one second of it. Since the verdict I have been unable to avoid the deluge of talking heads on the subject. I conclude from listening to the TH's that she killed her daughter, but the state couldn't prove it.Circumstantial evidence has the same weight as direct evidence and many persons have been executed after a trial where the evidence is all circumstantial. In a homicide case, the direct evidence is often skimpy because the best source of direct evidence on the subject has been croaked. It appears that the prosecution in the Casey Anthony prosecution proved by circumstantial evidence that she was the killer, but failed in the forensic part of the case that she was guilty of murder.Too much reliance is placed on scientific evidence by juries largely because of television shows where the prosecution always has DNA or fingerprints or fabric threads or other such handy hooks to gain a conviction. I would bet that the average juror wat... Read more

Thu Jul 07 2011I did think she was guilty until Nancy Grace convinced me otherwise, only crazed lunatics like Jared in Arizona would believe anything Nancy would say now would they! Think about it, she seems guilty, and it seems like she will get convicted of murder but I was thinking-hold on, I thought they had more evidence than what the DA presented, I thought they had a ton of evidence against her, and that is why everybody it seems thought she was guilty, but were was this solid , foolproof evidence. The jury, instead of being stupid, irrational, trailer trash worthless people like the garbage that is outside protesting the verdict, had no choice but to find Casey not guilty! I actually think tha Casey just tried to knock out her daughter with chloroform, hence the web searce for that substance, or maybe used a medication like an antihistimine or Valium in an effort to render her daughter unconscious, so she can go out and party, uh?, maybe, what ever the reason she caused an accidental overdose... Thu Jul 07 2011I haven't been following the Casey Anthony trial that much but after the verdict I have been reading up on it. There was not enough evidence to convict her of murder. I would have voted not guilty. The people I have talked to most of them think she should have been found not guilty, some think that she is completely innocent of anything but lying to the police maybe. I know this dude who knows some cops and he said that the cops believe that Casey is innocent, completely. I don't know if a lot of guys are thinking with their pants, but I do know a lot of girls who say that Casey is innocent.
