Casa Bianca Pizza

Sorry, I'm a native NY-er and I cannot honestly give this pizza a true thumbs up - it's just not what I expect of a pizza. I'm sure others love it, but it's not quite what a NY-er would jump up and down for.

We were so disappointed, that we thought it might be a mistake, or an off night-- so we went back a second time. The staff were pleasant, as were the other customers. Should other customers matter? In the case of Casa Bianca, they are a major factor, since the place is always full (in fact--swarming)! This means a long wait, which may help spark appetites and form the impression that the food is actually good. The atmosphere is warm, kitschy and very cozy, like a "red" (sauce) American-Italian joint you remember from childhood. Maybe its naive charm is the attraction, or neighborhood loyalty, or the late owner's family and staff. Because the food is not great. Freshly cooked, maybe. Retro, sure. But the kind of retro where the eggplant slices are breaded with Progresso-type pre-seasoned, overly fine, overly dry breadcrumbs, with fake-tasting seasoning and way too much metallic-tasting cheap table salt. This is no more than a neighbor pizza joint with a lot of charm. Don't expect great food.

we waited forever. ordered standard pepperoni. it was not worth the wait. i did go back a second time just to make sure. it takes too long and not that great for my taste.

I'm sorry to add to the Bad reviews. But we relied on all the reviews, and if someone says something is bad we believe it. Somehow we got fooled this night. It was worst than bad it was really greasy and the crust was so tough. I really question the cheese they put on it because the oil was just floating on top. I don't like to write bad reviews but I don't like to waste someone's time or money. I see that it was busy which is fine. I've been to the East coast and even a lot of pizza places here and it was so astonishing at how unhappy an experience we had.

I went to OXY, and everyone say "go to Casa Bianca, they have the best pizza." Well there are three main parts to a pizza (sauce, dough, and chese/toppings), but I don't care what anyone says, the sauce is the most important part. You can always hide sub-par crust or cheese with a great or even good sauce. Thats the only reason why there is good pizza in LA. The water causes the crust for all pizza out here to be average at best. Well the sauce here is so bad. I went once, and won't go ever again. If you want good family style italian food at cheap prices, go to Pamadero in Los Feliz. I never right reviews, but when I saw this was the editor's choice for budget date place, I had to say something.

What a find! Had heard rumors,but had to check it out for ourselves. Got a table right at 4pm and had great service. Salad was great and pizza was great. The wine could use a little help,but now I know! By the time we left at 5:15 we couldn't find the door out there were so many people. It is obviously worth the wait. It's all about the pie man!

Yes, there is always a long wait but it is always worth it. Casa Bianca is a family run classic and they treat you like family, a dysfunctional family, but like home.

Worth the drive to Eagle Rock!! If these 130+ reviews don't convince you to go here, Jonathan Gold's LA Weekly article will. The famous critic can't say enough about Casa Bianca's pizza pie. It really is that darn good! The crust on the thin side, the marinara on the spicy side, and the cheese covering almost all the way to the edges and baked to perfection. You don't need to say "extra crispy". The pizza does not flip or flop around, it's cut into wonderful little slices that are easily, but not mindlessly, devoured. When my boyfriend and I took a recommendation and ventured to this suburban spot we had high hopes, but were extremely impressed and our expectations were exceeded. Friendly staff, comfortable dining area, homey decor. I like plain cheese pizza and my boyfriend likes pepperoni, so we get 1/2 and 1/2, both are great. This is a neighborhood place that has been around for a long time. They haven't changed the interior maybe since they opened, they take cash...

You must visit this place. i live about three blocks and walk here on for dinner usually. But seriously, since the wait is just too long. BE SMART AND MAKE RESERVATIONS. People just assume it is okay to just walk up to the place and it'll all be fine. But seriously, it is all worth it. I love the pizza. If you go there get the pizza! The eggplant is delicious! Mozzarella are always my favorite.

Casa Bianca, let me tell you. Great pizza okay prices. it's a little bit price for the service. I wouldn't go there whit a group, but it great for a one on one dinnner .Over all there is always a waite to get a seat but thats the price you pay for a yummy family hole in the wall!

you dont have to be a foodie or a pizza afficionado to give this pizza the worst rating It is greasy, actually soaked with oil. The crust is tasteless and ours was alos quite salty I think people flock to this joint because it is just a little more expensive than dominos and the portion are huge Like many of the reviews here , i wonder how and why it gets a good rating

My grandpa and I decided to try this place out on his eightyth birthday and were we sorry. If you go out to eat here beware that they will tell you that the wait will be 30 mins but, after an hour of waiting I had gone up to the hostess and before I could say a word she said very rudely said "who are you?" I looked at the list to see that my name had been skipped. I told her my name and she said she called me, then she said she called me 4 times, then when the older lady came out she reinacted how she yelled my name all over the place. (defencive much?) We were the sat at a very uncomfortable wooden chair, we noticed there were three open booths and asked the move the older lady at the front said no that there were other people waiting to sit there then they sat these 2 guys at one of them who had been waiting about half as long as we were. I meannnnnnnnn cmon. How on earth is this the best pizza??? It's good in a Costco /Chuck -e- cheese kinda way. Its beyond greasy. I think a lot of people like it because it touches on their WT(white trash) side. Canned veggies? Save yourself some time and go to Barones Pizza in the valley.

A long wait and drive slightly detracted from the delicious pizza and friendly staff. Their pizza with extra cheese was the best I?ve had in LA and we were able to order beers through the hostesses while we waited for our table.

I always want to try out this place because of all the buzz. Me and my husband stopped by lunch time, then find the place only opens for dinner. We went around 4:45pm Saturday again and there is a loooong waiting list. An hour later, we had a table. The inside look OK, the food is not great, we spend another two hours waiting for the waitress to come back and served us. I had to end up get up myself and pay when we finish eating. Thinking about the wait, the food, the services, the environment, all thes won't worth my time, money and effort to go there anymore. Please!!! if you want good pizza, there are so much more places out there worth your precious time. I hope you can enojoy your next dinner and I highly suggest you don't go here to Casa Bianca. I enjoy eating out with my husband to find good restaurants, I never "DISLIKE" a restaurant enough to write a review. This is definitely a "MUST NOT GO"!!!!!!!

Long, long, long waits, but great pizza... & all around Italian restaurant. Has that Sinatra feel yet loud & busy & overrun with kiddies. Even to go takes 2 yrs but the pizza is worth it...

This Eagle Rock institution is always crowded -- for good reason. Everything is scrumptious, from the homemade minestrone soup to the pizzas and pastas. I'm particularly fond of the linguine clams in red sauce; there are plenty of clams and the sauce is wonderfully garlicky. Their pizza has thin crust and is well above average; I found their mushroom and garlic pizza to be exceptional. You have the option of ordering a la carte or as a dinner meal; the dinner includes soup, tea or coffee and a scoop of ice cream for dessert -- a great value. Don't forget to bring cash because they don't take plastic. Also, be warned that the wait can be LONG during peak hours. They are open late, so I'd suggest going later (like after 9 pm) to avoid the crowds; also, they are closed Sunday and Monday (I think).

I love Casa Bianca. Its not East Coast Pizza for sure, but sort of it's own deal. Yes the wait is long, but part of the reason I love to go here is to sit in the crowded lobby, drink some wine and talk with friends before dinner. The pizza itself is amazing, I recommend an eggplant and meatball pie, and the prices are awesome. But what really makes Casa is its awesome staff. In short this place is my favorite place in all of LA not only for pizza but as a restaurant in general.

Totally shocked to see they used disgusting canned mushrooms on their pizza, even dominos wouldn't do this! In fact I don't know anywhere in S. California that would use canned flavorless mushrooms, and this is a key pizza topping! The cheese was also absolutely flavorless! overpriced for what you get!! YOU CANNOT USE CHEAP SUBSITUTES FOR A GOOD PIZZA!

My wife and I went her strictly on the advice of the rave reviews from this website. True the place is a quaint, italian-american hole-in-the-wall, true there is a long wait for a table, but false that the pizza is anything but mediocre. We ordered a pepperoni pizza that took about 50 minutes but looked and smelled great when it finally came. Honestly I was excited when it came, but when i took a bite, all bets were off. Here's the problems: the dough is under-cooked, the pizza is too greasy and too frickin' salty. Don't get me wrong--I like salt and grease as much as the next pizza lover, but this was just a joke. Also, the place is louder than a Kiss concert; impossible to carry a regular conversation. so we just sat and waited a long time for an under done salty greasy pizza. Don't waste your time here.

The wait was awful, and the cashiers were rude. I don't recommend this place at all, not worth the time. Can Mushrooms, oh my gosh how sad can you get. The Linguine was tasteless. I would not go back again.

Its part of the tradition. If you want to be seen at LA's most popular Pizza joint you have to deal with it! It's amazing -- every time Citysearch trots out its "best pizza in LA" awards, up comes the colossally overrated Casa Bianca. I think I understand why -- everybody loves a Mom n Pop "locals" establishment, instead of making the same old tired trek to the nearest Round Table for the same old tasteless muck.. And it looks the part too: a quaint little italian restaurant with a vintage neon sign, on a busy corner, with a line out the door. It must be good! Right? Well, lemme tell ya. I am not one of those people with no taste buds, who has never had decent pizza -- I've had pizza in Boston, Chicago, New York, and Rome, so I know the difference between a good slice o' pie and a glorified, Pizza Hut $3.99 lunch buffet, been-under-the-heat-lamps-too long pizza. Since I really dislike giving restaurants bad reviews, I am glad this is not the case with Casa Bianca. However, this place is very (I cannot stress this anymore) average. I am really confused as to why or how this place is getting all these rave reviews, but I am gonna tell it like it is....good, but nothing to throw a parade over. Take it from me people, if it will takes you more than 10 mins to get to Casa Bianca, then don't bother. That being said service was good:)

I have worked at Casa Bianca for four years and have lived in Eagle Rock for 18. Customers can be put on the Waiting List as long as they are parties of 1-5 people.NOTE:this is NOT a reservation. Parties of 6-16(max!) CAN make reservations, but it would help out if one calls a few days beforehand, especially if the reservation is for a Friday or Saturday.Expect there to be an hour wait on Saturdays.Seating is very scarce and we are ALWAYS busy! However, it's busy for a reason and definately worth the wait. Even though I've worked there for four years, I can't resist ordering food for myself at the end of the night. The breaded eggplant is my favorite topping,with garlic. I just saw on the site's front page that Casa Bianca came in number 1 again. Well, I went here for my birthday in June just because of the rating. Let me tell you that this place has possibly the WORST pizza I've had in Los Angeles. Unbelieveable. It's cute inside, yes, but people, come on! Stop being sheep. It's terrible. It's an insult to all the other pizzerias in Los Angeles.

First off, I have to say that I've been going here for years. I LOVE the pizza here and go quite often. I've never had a bad experience until last weekend....and it was so bad that I will not go back ever. People who frequent Casa Bianca know that you can call and get your name put on the waiting list when you're on your way, so when 8 of us decided to go here for my cousin's birthday I called first. Knowing how the wait can be I asked if we could possibly get our name on the list for that many people, I was told no, but that the wait was 30-40 mins in an EXTREMELY rude way that implied to me that maybe we shouldn't come at all. they make a really decent thin crust pie...it almost smells better in there than it is to eat...maybe not, but maybe...haven't decided yet...it's a scene for sure.

Hands down- the best pizza in LA. Their thin crust, Chicago style pizza with sausage makes everything right in the world. Beware- it's typical to wait 45-60 minutes to be seated. But everyone there knows it's worth the wait. No reservations. Cash only, but there's an ATM there.

Now I don't know why the other people rated CB any lower than 4 but I guess we all have different taste buds. BEST pie this side of the Mississippi ( aside from Mulberry in BH ). The bruscheta is awesome and so is the antipasto. The ONLY reason why I didn't give it a 5 was because of the long wait....specially on the weekends starting friday night.

Luckily, I have been to the best pizza place in America (it is in New Haven, Conn.). Do not listen to any east coast transplants that say that Casa Bianca pales in comparison to pizza on the East Coast. I would love it if people believed that nonsense, so I did not have to wait in a line around the building. This pizza is terrific -- thin, crispy, great sauce. I prefer pizza with simple toppings, but this is California, so strange toppings are the norm. That is why there is a pizza place named after the state. This place has great character, as well. It reminds me of Frank Pepe's in New Haven.

I am in shock, total and complete shock. How is this the best pizza in los angeles? Or how is it that a whole city of folk has no clue what pizza is. And yes, i do know, as a recent transplant from NY, raised in NJ -- there's no better than on the east coast. Now maybe you all think this pizza is good because, as I noticed walking around the joint, you're loading all all kinds of toppings onto the pie. These concoctions are not pizza; they are unfolded or one slice of bread sandwiches. The measure of a good pie is the single, cheese slice. At Casa, the cheese pie = Domino's thin crust, with a slightly superior sauce. Finally, my friends, where is the CRUST! They have the tastiest sausage pizza and if you want to keep dracula away order it with garlic WOW!! We always go on weekdays to avoid the long wait or when they open if its a fri or sat. The Il Fornio pasta is spectacular and their small antipasto is enough for 3 to 4 (2 if your really hungry) It's a very casual small town anywhere USA atmosphere. Staff is always pleasant and helpful. They don't have any parking, but it's a nice neighborhood and the short walk is always helpful when you come out feeling so full. I've tried the other pizza places on list but this is without a doubt my Favorite.

My primary concern is the long wait. After being on the waiting list for 1 hour and being seated, my waitress anounced " Hello, there is a 45 minute wait for pizza pies". At this point I was hungry and decided with my wife we were too Hungry to get up and go somewhere else. Some of the Best Pizza in L.A. Considering the previously mentioned I do not think I will ever wait 1 hour 45 minutes for some of the best pizza in L.A. again. My idea of quality time is not parking 1 block away, sitting on a plastic chair out side at 9 at night in the cold. If anything I will order for pick up.

Hm, my favorite pizza place of all is still Casa Biance Pizza Pie. Their pizza just tast soo good. Pinapple and ham pizza is my usual order. I really highly recommend this place to any one, even to the president of United States :))))

Couldn't agree more with the last reviewer......very average. Good pizza, but NOTHING to brag about at all.

Pizza is mediocre at best. I drove 30 miles from Valencia on Saturday night to see just how good the pizza was. I should have stayed in Valencia and saved the time and gas. Bad parking and long wait were expected, so I can not complain about those. I had much better pizza at the Vitto's (not there any more) on Vermont Ave and the various assembly line pizza like Costco's. I have an advice for the people who coming there with kids. Simply, stay away from there. The tiny waiting area is so crowded with many adults with wine glasses and beer bottles in their hands, it is unsafe for little children. Being a cop, I also have a good advice for the owner of the business. The waiting customers should not be allowed to take their alcoholic drinks to outside the restaurant. Open containers in public street is absolutely against the law.

I love this pizza. My fiance and I have been addicted since our first bite. The sauce is so tasty and delicious, I think they put cr**k in it. I can't get enough of the homemade sausage and fresh sliced garlic pizza, it is outrageously good. I agree that the wait is normally insane, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. You have to know this going in, and accept it. What we have resolved to do in order to get our pizza fix is to get it to go instead. We call in ahead of time, wait the normal 45 minutes to an hour it takes to make it, then drive down and pick it up. We are in and out in 5 minutes. When we do dine in, it is either right at 4pm when they open, or after 10pm when they start to slow down. The crowds are smaller at these times, and you get a better experience. Good restaurants are worth adjusting your normal eating schedule for. The wait staff has always been friendly to me here. We went on a Tuesday night. Long wait to be seated and then poor service. Some items allow substitutions. I asked for Pesto sauce (which they serve with Linguini) on Linguini and Clams (which allows substitutions). They would not make the substitution for some unexplained reason. My wife ordered a Pizza. It was one of the worst we have ever had. It was extremely greasy with a tasteless sauce. I would never go again. Like the old gag, ?The service is terrible but you don?t mind the wait because the food is so bad.?

I love this pizza! But if you're expecting Pizza Hut or numero uno, you're in for a shock. Gone is the grease, the pasty sauce and stringy cheese. Instead, The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is great, and the toppings taste delicious. The cheese was also very fresh. Another positive is the pizza was not dripping with oil like some other places. The anti pasta salad and the garlic bread are my favorites!! The service is friendly. I think this place has proved the test of time, in a city where people have plenty of options Casa Bianca will still be packed. expect a wait but you can order a Carafe of wine and enjoy!

Make your wait useful by walking a couple blocks to Trader Joe's (closes at 9pm) and pick up some wine to go with your pizza. Make sure to add garlic to your toppings--you won't regret it!!! Eggplant and garlic is a great combination for you veggie eaters. The pasta arrabiata (=angry, therefore it is quite spicy!) is to die for, as is the bruschetta. Mmmmm!!!

why the high ratings... i have NO idea. i get better pizza from CPK. this place is not worth the hype at all. the crust was thin, but the ingredients were of bad quality. I didn't think you can actually mess up a hawaiian pizza. we also had some pastas and they were bland. mine (i believe it was their special baked pasta) was the best, but by far nothing to be excited about. for pasta, i will recommend celestino or angelini. pizza... try petrillo's!

After waiting for a half hour to be seated on a Wednesday night, I was completely disappointed by the pizza and eggplant parmigiana. As an earlier reviewer mentioned, they use canned mushrooms on the pizza. How hard is it to use real mushrooms? The eggplant was also boring and flavorless. If you want amazing pizza and the best eggplant I've ever had, go to Pinocchio's in Burbank. There's no wait and the food is so much better.
