Dr. Carter was fabulous. I wish I had her for our first baby but having her there the second time around was excellent. I didn't realize what I missed out on the first pregnancy until I went to her. She's always caring and never rushes. I was worried that she wouldn't be there for the actual delivery (my first doctor wasn't) but she was right there throughout up until the baby was born!! I'm sad that we had to move away but if I go back to austin you can bet who my ob/gyn would be! i've even considered keeping her and just going back for my annual. Great doctor and excellent person. Highly recommend.

I moved to Austin mid-pregnancy, became a patient of Dr. Carter's, and am so glad I did. This was my first pregnancy so I was really looking for a doctor I felt comfortable with and who would be there to answer all the questions I was having during this new stage of my life. She is a fabulous doctor, who goes out of her way for her patients, and is always on top of her game. I admit I've also had some issues with her new staff, but once I informed Dr. Carter of what was going on, it was handled immediately, and I've never had any issues since. (I encourage anyone who is having issues to inform Dr. Carter so she can take care of the problem, because she will!! ) If you are looking for a an outstanding ob/gyn, look no further. I am recommending her to all of my friends, and I confidently recommend her to anyone in search of a new doctor. You will not be disappointed!

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Carter. She delivered my first child this past May. I only started seeing her after we got pregnant and it was just chance that we chose her because there were so few female OB's on our insurance. I'll never change OB/Gyn's again. :) I agree that the new office and staff are not a positive change. However, I know Dr. Carter and I know that she'll be working to get things corrected. She's a fireball and goes above and beyond. She never rushed us at a visit and would sit and talk with us for as long as needed. Plus, since I ended up delivering during an oncall night and was the clinics only patient delivering at the hospital that night, she was with me through my ENTIRE three and a half hours of pushing!

I've been a patient of Dr. Carter for years. I really can't say enough how much I appreciate being her patient. I felt heard and seen. I received a notice of her move to UT and thought that the university would benefit greatly. I would never consider going to another doctor. Until now. I've had the WORST experience with her new office staff. I have left voice mail messages since September, but those aren't returned REPEATEDLY. As of today, 10/8/08, I have given up trying to get any assistance with scheduling an appointment from the new office. I called on 10/7 to get information on how to contact Dr. Carter directly and get my patient records. I really am sad about this, but I can't continue to wait for a response or reply from the new office. The voice messages left on Monday and Tuesday by 10am have not been returned. I was told by the office manager last week that there were issues with scheduling, but apparently there are issues at the university with voice mail messa... Read more

My wife has seen Dr. Carter for a year (initially old office, and now new office). Honestly, Dr. Carter doesn't change, still a great doctor to work with. You probably cannot find too many OB doctor that are so concerned with your health and so skillful. My wife saw the other doctors before, but Dr. Carter is really the best. As for her staffs, well, it's totally different story. The staffs in the old office are good. So that's why when one of Dr. Carter's nurse went with her to the new office, we are glad. (But later on, we believe the nurse left, since we haven't seen her for the last 8-10 visits. Not sure why.) Although it's kind of hard to call-in her old office, but if you succeed, you will get very great response and answer. However, in the new office, you can call in very easily. But when you need to talk to a nurse or surgery scheduling person, you will almost certain need to leave a message and hopefully you will get feedback in a day or two. Like the other comment, sometimes... Read more

I was so pleased when I found Dr. Carter (actually through Citysearch) when I moved to Austin a few years ago. She is a great doctor--understanding and interested in all issues that affect women's health. I recommended her to everyone I knew. Recently, as the post below states, she moved her practice. What a difference! Before, if I called and tried to make an appointment or leave a message (which I did on two occasions over the years), the staff worked with me and messages were returned within about 48 hours. No longer! I am amazed at the attitude of the staff at her new office. I called and asked a question abotu whether I shoudl continue taking a medication she prescribed based on a recent change, left a message for her nurse, and never heard back. Called again to ask the same question...call still not returned. I finally ended up calling my old ob/gyn's office from almost 5 years ago to find out whether I could continue taking the medication under the circumstances. Th... Read more

Just a note to say that Dr. Kimberly Carter has moved to The University of Texas Physicians at 313 East 12th Street Suite 100, Austin TX 78701. The new phone number is 512-324-8670. Dr. Carter is still seeing current and new patients, and still delivers at St. David's Medical Center.

We moved to the area 5 weeks before our twins were born. Dr. Kimberly Carter was amazing, working with our crazy relocation schedule and a birth of multiples. Our twins were born with NO c-section and the environment was the perfect blend of caution and natural birth processes. We were beyond thrilled with our experience and are so grateful so Dr. Carter's friendly, open manner and flexibility. Awesome, awesome doc whom I would recommend whole-heartedly. I'm a mom of eight, so I have definitely had some experience with a wide variety of docs and midwives. Blessings!

I was with another OB/GYN for years. I suffered many miscarriages and I was never given a reason why. I finally decided to switch and I heared about Dr. Carter and what a wonderful woman she was. Everything I heared was right. She is so understanding and never makes you feel rushed or that she is in a hurry to get to her next patient. The first day I saw her we were able to figure out what was causing my miscarriages. I am so grateful for everything and will recommend her to everyone I know.

Kimberly Carter was my doctor when I was pregnant with my son. Kimberly Carter and her staff were so great to me. If I had questions or concerns, they always took the time to explain things to me. They gave me such good memories during my pregnancy. I had a doctor in Florida, and she just treated me like another pregnant woman.. This was my first pregnancy and I had alot of questions and concerns and she gave me attitude and always rushed though my appointments. Kimberly Carter was not like that, she showed alot of excitment and happiness for me and my husband. She was Awesome. I really enjoyed going to my appointments and I left happy every time unlike the doctor I had in Fort, Myers Florida. The doctor that did the C-section on me, Dr. Michelle Chouteau, she also did a great job on delivering my son- Cody Ray jr. I want to thank Dr. Kimberly Carter, Dr. Michelle Chouteau and all the staff for being so great to us. If anyone out there is pregnant or thinking of having a baby, please d... Read more

I totally loathe all doctors and when I met Dr. Carter I was seriously considering not getting prenatal care. I met her once and since have been regular and happy to go. My son was born in Decenber of 2004 and Dr. Carter stayed up all night with us waiting for him. She always takes time to listen and understand every single thing that's going on even when it's not rational......LOL I have moved 300 miles away and I still will not go to anyone but Dr. Carter. I can't possibly tell you all of the woderful, kind things she did for us or how she was professional but not rigged and made us feel so comfortable----if you're looking for an ob/gyn she's your gal. She is in my opinion (and yes i've seen a few) THE BEST OB/GYN IN THE AUSTIN AREA maybe even Texas....she really is awesome.

With my (current) first pregnancy i decided to see her. Me and my husband feel very comfortable with her, we can ask her any queestions and she always sits down and listens to our concerns and even has time to get to establish a relationship with you rather than being "just" a patient. Highly recommend. With anyother pregnancy i will surely go back to her in the future.

Dr. Carter really takes time with her patients, and she truly listens. She is also incredibly intelligent, insightful, and has a great sense of humor. After visiting at least 10 different OB/GYNs in Austin, after seeing Dr. Carter my search for the best has ended.
