Carlton Hair Salon & Day Spa

Today I went in for a hair cut and I was THINKING about coloring it. I have never had my hair colored before so I was very nervous. I talk to Alli about it and she was amazing, we talked about whether I should die my hair completely or just do highlights, then she brought out all of the colors that she thought would look good on me. We finally decided and then we moved onto the cut. I explained to her what I was looking for and she did exactly that. It took her about 2 1/2 hours, she even had to call over another stylist to help her dry and straighten my hair because I have so much, but she was extremely nice the WHOLE time! When it was all done I had highlights for the first time and nice layered hair with bangs. I LOVE it! This was the first time that i sat in a stylist's chair and smiled the whole time! I can't wait to see her again!

I only went here once, and Julie cut and colored my hair. She did a great job. I made my next appt but they called a week before and said Julie had left due to medical reasons. Turns out she is allergic to hair dye and at Carlton you have to do both cut and color? But no doubt she is now working somewhere just cutting, and I'd like to find her so she can continue to cut my hair! If you know where she went, please contact me via my review of Carlton on yelp.

John has been cutting my hair for years and I have ALWAYS been pleased with the results. He is very friendly, professional, and attentive. John is an artist with hair and it is clear he takes great pleasure in helping people look their best. I have long, thick, curly hair and John is very skilled at cutting it. My hair is now more manageable, healthy, and can look great worn up or down . He has also recommended many great hair products that work very well and I continue to buy them.

This place is my new default haircut place. I used to get my hair trimmed at a cheaper place in La Mesa, but each time I went home disappointed, with an uneven or unfinished haircut. I've always left extremely pleased since I started seeing Rochelle. She's very skilled and very professional in her work, and my haircuts always come out just how I like and consistent between visits. Each new haircut is virtually identical to the last. I really can't think of a single thing to complain about.

This is only fitting given the fabulous services you will receive here......I am a VERY picky person when it comes to my hair and nails and am unfortunately not talented in the area of doing them on my own. Kathy does the best manicures and pedicures ever and there are NO words to explain how talented Alberto is. You pick the style that you want and you get it, they are very professional, my hair cut turn out good all the time. This is the best place to get a hair cut.

I've been going to Rochelle since 2004 and have not seen another stylist since then. I've always been an indecisive type when it came to how I want my hair, but Rochelle always had the insight and vision to create a new fabulous look each time. Gabriel was the greatest.....I'm a mom & very picky and he was perfect. I felt totally taken care of & highly recommend him.

I made an impropmtu hair appointment (which I always do) with my superfabulous hairstylist Rochelle. As usual, I was undecided as to how I wanted my haircut, keep the length or go short. I left that decision up to Rochelle and before you know it she chopped my hair off (definitely a good thing). I completely let go and told Rochelle that I wanted something new and sassy! She took it upon herself to give me such a great new look ladies! I'm loving my haircut! Rochelle is definitely an up and coming new hairstylist! Jocelyn is awesome! I started going to her three months ago. A friend from work recommended her to me. From day one, Jocelyn really listened to what I wanted and also gave me suggestions on what would type of haircut would look best on me. She also taught me how to style my new side-swept bangs. She's the best!

Jerry is the best hair colorist in all of san diego! i've been seeing him for about 2 years and i have no complaints! The atmostphere in Carlton Salon is very friendly and welcoming=) I am very very very picky when it comes to my hair and Jerry always takes such care when working with my new ideas* I leave there feeling more content then i do when getting a massage... i mean come on you wear your hair everyday- and i bad color job is just as bad as a horrible outfit EXCEPT you have to wear it over and over. I had my 1st visit to the Salon last weekend and it was an awesome experience. The staff was courteous and polite and my hair stylist (Linh) took so much time cutting and styling my hair. The Salon is located in Fashion Valley so you can shop and eat before or after visiting the salon. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

I have been going to Carlton Fashion Valley for hair, waxing & massages but what has kept me loyal for YEARS is Alberto whom I absolutely LOVE. He's the most talented and amazing hairstylist I've EVER met and is the ONLY person that I trust with my hair. The atmospere is great and is always very clean plus everyone is always accommodating from the moment you walk in. The location is great and there's always ample parking. If you are thinking of trying it out...DO IT and go to Alberto. You'll be extremely happy plus you'll walk out feeling like a million bucks without having to empty the bank. Alberto rocks! <3

I have been going to Gabriel for about a year and a half. Gabriel and his assistant Anthony work wonders! They make me feel special and pretty when I leave the salon! The front desk girls are very friendly and they always have a smile. A very stylish, friendly, and full service salon! I have recommended this salon to my friends in the past and now I am happy to spread the word to San Diego!

I had my hair cut at another salon, leaving with it butchered and feeling as if I was wearing a helmet...I then went to Carlton and had an appointment with Luz. After looking at my haircut, she completely understood what needed to be done and did an excellent job fixing it. It may not have been the style I originally wanted, but after she was done I was no longer embarrassed to go to work the next day! I got my hair cut and colored friday. I thought, new year, new hair. So I went in with some idea of what I wanted, but not really sure. I told Rochelle that I was looking for a dark red color, and we looked at some samples and talked it over. I felt like she was really listening, taking my input into account. I hate when stylist think they know exactly what you want, but don't really listen. Rochelle understood what I wanted in the color. With the cut, she's cut my hair many times before and knows my style, so we talked about length and layers. Next thing I know, she's done and my hair is styled and I LOVE IT! I tell everyone about Carlton's and my stylist Rochelle.

I get my eyebrows waxed by Jodi and she does an amazing job! She also gives greatttt facials! The salon is in a great location...you can shop and then go to the salon. They seem to always have an appt. available when I need one, which is really nice.

I was given a gift certificate for a few services from my husband to Carlton for my birthday. I am a busy mom of 4 and never treat myself, but I decided to give it a go. I was so relaxed when I left that I totally forgot it was my birthday! The staff was so nice and treated me like I was a queen for a day. Thank you!

I have to tell you.. giving another hair stylist is probably the hardest thing to do. however i cant imagine trusting my hair in anyones hands but Alli, Nikki, Rachel, Gabriel, John, Luz, i mean the team is so good that they can even make a pick master stylist at ease. good job guys

My 76 year old mother came to me in need of a haircut. I have been going to Carlton for awhile now and I knew just the gal to recommend her to. Not only did Julie do a great job on my mothers hair, she treated her with the utmost respect. I was so impressed. We will definitely come back again!

I'm from MN and I was in San Diego visiting my girlfriend when she told me that I needed a hair cut real bad. I was not excited. She took me to Carlton hair and I eased a little bit because the place was so chill. Vin cut my hair and I was really surprised, I liked it a lot! If I lived here I would go there for cuts on a permanent basis-- I'd recommend them to anyone in San Diego or anyone that's just visiting!

She did the best hair cut I have ever received! I have thinning hair and most of the time I feel that stylists don't give me the attention that my hair needs. I saw Julie for my most recent haircut, and she was so nice. I am from a small town in Wisconsin and was in California visiting my friend for a week when we both decided we needed out hair cut. The place I normally go only has two chairs and is pretty much a barber shop, but this place was so wonderful! I felt pampered in every way, just as a college student should! Living in S.D. is great. I am not much of a shopper and normally don't do women's hair salons. But I was looking shaggy so I walked in to Carlton. It was easy, a shampoo and a cut. I paid a little more than I usually do, but I looked much better than I usually do.

I moved to San Diego two years ago from San Francisco Ca. San Francisco has some of the best hair salons in the world and I knew it would be hard to replace the stylist I have known. I have tried many hair salons over the past few years, but really never clicked with any of them. Then like a ray of sunshine came Carlton Hair at the Fashion Valley Mall. I had shopped there many times but one day I opened my eyes. It was like... dah ! Giti has been getting my hair cut the for the most part and I think she is the best hair stylist in the city and the most friendliest. Up until now I have only recommended her to friends because she was my little secret; too good to let just anyone know about her and this great salon. So it is time to stop being selfish. The times are getting a little tough, so I would like to help the salon out. I think you will love this place!

I have been going to Carlton Hair salon and spa for a couple months, where I found the most talented and creative stylists!!!!! Not only they will make you look beautifull also they will make you feel GREAT inside of you. My overall color is milk chocolate and golden blond highlights, also It was a big decission for me to cut off more than 10 inches of my hair at my last visit , but stylist Julie, walked me through it very nicely. She is very creative and talented so are all of the other stylists and assistants, and most of all they never rush. Now I have shiny rich color and layered cut and my hair NEVER looked the same, plus I get lots of compliments everyday. I recomended it to all of my girlfriends and co-workers, all of them are very happy and loyal to Carlton Hair Salon and Spa!

I just moved to S. C. form Brooklyn a while ago. And I have had some bad experiences with some of the other local salons. I love to shop, had walked by this place... so one day I stopped in. I set an appointment and I was impressed. I got my hair cut by the cutest gal. She was asble to understand exactly how I wanted my hair cut, something which my previous stylist's had found very difficult. I am very satisfied with my hair cut. The atmosphere is very clean and modern, and it seems like everyone who works there is really enjoying themselves. On top of all that I got 5 dollars off a price that was already 10 dollars less expensive than my last hair cut. I definitely recommend this salon to everyone. I am definitely a loyal customer.

I had been searching everywhere for the perfect person to do my hair for my wedding. A friend highly recommended Henna. Although I had never visited the salon, I made an appointment for a hair cut and up do. She knew that I was nervous, but her confidence and cheerful personality put me at ease. She assured me my hair would look beautiful. She was right, I absolutely loved what she did. I couldn't have found a better hairstylist. My hair was gorgeous! I had so many compliments about my hair at my wedding. She truly helped make my wedding day a perfect one. I highly recommend Henna & this salon. She is the best and I will never go to anyone else!

I have been a client at Carlton in the mall for quite a while. I have had a few stylists that have came and went,and they were all really good ... Henna, Giti, Rachael Ally. Everytime I have an appointment I will look awesome when I leave and will get alot of compliments as well. I let them do whatever they think would look good and everytime it has been successful. Prices are reasonable,the associates are fun to listen to,and the location is awesome if you live in the San Diego area, I would recommend anyone to anyone who wants a new fresh look because they definatly know what they are doing!! When we moved from Indiana to S.D. last year, I was dreading having to find a new hair salon. I tried several places but then one day I was shopping at the Fashion Valley Mall and there it was.... The Carlton. I was lucky enough to be schedled with Rachael. She is awesome. I don't do color but she does a GREAT perm and hair cut! My elderly mother who lives with us always liked my haircuts so now she also goes to Carlton and likes Ally alot. I had a hairdresser that I really loved in Indy, but am now really happy with the job Rachael does.

I recently had my hair cut and styled here and it was wonderful. My stylist was a very good listener, and she gave me the best haircut I have had in years. She was friendly, efficient, totally professional and respectful. I immediately trusted her intution about what should be done, and I was really happy with the results. The whole experience was very encouraging for me (someone who has a history of being notoriously picky and disatisfied with my haircuts).

I was in the salon to get my haircut by Henna ( I think that it the right name) and it was so amazing! I have been growing out my hair for years and was hesitant to cut it shorter, but I was given some ideas on how to maintain a short cut and I decided to give it a try. Not only did it turn out just like we discussed, but I was shown ways to style it for different occasions. I will never go to another salon again-I have found my new home :)

I don't usually write reviews but felt that The Carlton deserved it! I got a great cut my hair and did an absolutely fabulous job. We sat and spoke about what I was looking for and how she would do it and all the pieces just fell together. She did exactly what she said and luckily I went on a week day during the day because I was in and out of there in 40 minutes with an amazing hair cut and she straightened my hair faster than anyone around!

I used to color my hair at home and it looked like it. LOL My friend Heather, told me to have someone at Carlton color it and try to get Rachael to cut it. So I listened to her. I was ready for something new. I scheduled an appointment for a color and a cut. I never knew my hair could look this great. I went from ok to fabulous and I will never go back to doing my own hair.

I absolutely love my haircut and my color and I would definitely go back again...My stylist was honest in my consultation and we discussed each step before taking it....I was so relieved to find a salon in San Diego that is affordable and has great results! I have gotten compliments on my hair and I have referred my friends to check it out... you should too !

I just want to say Henna is the best!!! I needed to write a comment about her because she is the best out there. I've gotten my hair done by celeb stylist and i must say she doesn't compare. I was frantic! I was leaving on a great weekend get-a-way and my regular stylist over booked herself. My hair was a mess and i didnt like what i saw in the mirror. I knew Carlton was at the mall, so I called and got in. I found a stylist and a new formula... shop, relax, color, cut, shop, then travel.

I would rather be watching basketball. But my girlfriend Taylor promised Ally I would write a review. Jeepers what can I say? I felt a little wierd, it wasn't like the barber shop ! LOL The gals are so much fun. Ally did a great job on my dried out surfer dude overgrown mop. I'll go back again.

I absolutely love Carlton at the mall... especially my hairstylist, Henna! She gives me a great cut every time, perfect for my hair type. The entire staff is fun and helpful. You can tell they enjoy working together. Shaundra is always helpful and kind. I keep... going back. You will too!

I am such a surfer and i need to keep my look totally sweet. So i took a chance at riding a wave here and they got my cut right on the money. I am going to have the best surf hair in Cali when i get my hair done here. So should all you who are reading my gnarly review!
